Hate to give a bad review but this place has really gone downhill. Service was slow, and poor, but first the food: Very mediocre and overly priced!!! Everything was a near-miss or hardly made with much attention and care. Ordered the mac n’ cheese tapa which despite a nice smoked flavor was very dry. Octopus with pasta special was way salty, and the pork tacos were nothing but congealed meat plopped in a taco shell with not much else. The lemon bars dessert was definitely lemony but too sweet and dense for my taste. The only good thing were the truffle fries — garlicky and yummy. Now for the service: pretty poor. No water for the table after ordering, no sugar for my coffee despite being asked if I wanted any, missing silverware and napkin, and, not to sound petty but my wine glass was probably missing a good ounce from the normal serving amount when it arrived. Very disappointing! Food took an unusually long time to arrive, and at the end, waited 20 minutes for the check. 20 minutes! Gave it 1 star because $ 80(including obligatory tip) for relatively poor service and an overall subpar meal is a joke. Maybe we came in on an off night, but after this last time I’m never coming back.

Tapas are fun. Live music makes it even better. Great date night out or pit stop before or after a movie at Millerton’s Movie House. It’s not dinner unless you invest in 6 or more tapas. If dinner is the goal then I’d opt for the paella with your choice of mixins. We had the chicken and chorizo which worked well and I’d do again. Tapas we enjoyed: Cauliflower Steak(1⁄5 roasted cauliflower, cauliflower purée, smoked paprika aioli); apricot ghost chili wings; Wedge salad with crispy shallots tangy chipotle ranch dressing. Not an inexpensive dinner before the movie but tasty and enjoyable.

First time at 52 main. Figured we would stop in and try I love Tapas. The atmosphere was very nice. The menu looked fun but as our food started to arrive menu discription was HORRIBLE. I ordered the Kalamata salad let me tell you there was NO salad a few tomatoes maybe 6 cut up including cherry tomatoes, few olives and NOT what the menu seemed to explain. We also ordered the Cevich salmon?(Love Cevich any other time) I’ve never tried with salmon and DIDN’T love… No one came to ask if I liked Cevich or any of other items came with 3 tiny pieces of bread and that’s the only way u could eat this.(horrible texture and after taste) The wine was good and beer as long the calamari but other then that didn’t like at all… It’s a shame because I had high hopes!

Stopped here for brunch after dropping our son off at the commuter rail in Wassaic. What a find. The food was very good — interesting, well prepared and very nicely presented. The Bloody Mary was perfect. The brunch price was a good value. And the wine list was well chosen and out of the ordinary. We enjoyed the décor(and appreciated the baffles integrated into the ceiling which kept the ambient sound lively, but not deafening) and the playlist was solid. The service was friendly and professional.(Although the greeting to us and to other customers by the host/manager(?) was a little off-handed. She left a number of folks standing awkwardly inside the entrance.) Would definitely return.

Came into town on our way up to the Berkshires for a stop at Harney & Sons and after our tea stop decided to walk the town a bit and stopped by 52 Main due to a little hunger pang and great curb appeal. Inside is warm and pleasant. Happy people inside and great choices on the menu and at the bar. Ordered some drafts and 52 Frites, Carnitas(manchengo and pork and the pineapple salsa… whoa…another order of these went in before the first plate was done… loved them). Will be back the next time our travels take us out this way… probably on purpose rather than happy accident now that we know 52 Main is here.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon. The place wasn’t packed, but quite a few tables were occupied, and we enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. The food was quite good — we ordered 6 tapas plates, including cauliflower steaks with a spicy creamy condiment(perhaps chipotle aioli?), mussels with chorizo and delicious bread(for me) for dunking in the luscious sauce. I do wish that 52Main had gluten-free bread available for my husband. The most disappointing thing was the service — the tuna ceviche was fantastic, but it was delivered to our table last, and I would have expected it to be served in advance of the heavier cooked fare. No matter, we’ll definitely return if we find ourselves in Millerton in the future.

Decent food and service. Eclectic menu but fun atmosphere. Would come back again! Would like a few more larger dish options for those who don’t dig the tapas idea(even though I do)!

Eleanor served us at the bar. We had a tapas and beer/wine before the movies. Awesome place. Great flavors. We will be back for dinner!

Very tasty. I love the tapas. I ordered steak tips that came with 2 dipping sauces and the fries. The fries were so delicious. I had no idea fries could even be that good!!! I also ordered a white sangria. It was a great size and was strong. They don’t water down drinks here. They’re made properly. Everything I had here was delicious and I will go back. The only negative is parking is atrocious!!! Be prepared to walk. I had to park a block and a half over on some random side street.

It’s very nice and the drink selections are good. That being said, I’ll never go back. Each of the times I’ve gone in the bartender was serving visibly and OBNOXIOUSLY intoxicated patrons. The last two times, I saw cocaine openly being dealt. Albeit, those were both very late and the staff can’t control people being jerks like that, but serving drunk people who are coming in already quite intoxicated? Not okay! Also: I originally rated this as «3 stars», but knocked off two more because the owner complained about my review! Said it was«exaggerated.» Honestly, it isn’t: if anything, I’m being tactful and glossing over some other things I saw. I’d NEVER bad mouth a small business(although in this case I’ll make an exception) or lie about seeing things like this happen.

52 Main is a tapas restaurant, but the choices are smart and interesting. My wife is a vegetarian, and there were plenty of things for her to choose from, which isn’t always the case! There were all sorts of different people here, but as the night went on, the young and rowdy crowd started to emerge. We knew then that it was time for us to move on. The food and service were both great, though!

I’ve been wanting to go here since I saw Chef Tommy on Cutthroat Kitchen. Today was that day and was it phenomenal? YESITWAS! My wife started with the arugula salad(sorry no photo, I’m not enthused by salad) it was great with the whipped goat cheese. I had the beef tongue tacos(a special) it was perfect, enough tongue to warrant its namesake yest not overpowering, a perfect blend of well seasoned flavors and soft succulent tongue(I appreciate a soft succulent tongue I don’t mind saying) My wife had the cauliflower roasted over a cauliflower purée, she is a CF aficionado and she said it’s the best she ever had… I agree, I’m not a hater but not a lover of CF and this was good enough that I’d order it going back! She had the tuna, which was sushi grade, fresh, well prepared and wonderfully tasty! I’m a major duck snob and the duck confit was made for me, if I didn’t want to try so many other dishes I’d have ordered 3 more, moist tasty well seasoned not dry at all and the balsamic complimented the duck perfectly! The braised short ribs were dynamite a perfect blend of savory and sweet with the perfect amount of heat from the jalapenos, another dish I could have had 3 more of. The sangria was yummy(driving so I only had 1) next time wifey drives and I will have 2(yes, I’m a lightweight drinker) I didn’t save room for desert but I ordered it anyway, a dulce de leche covered cheese cake ball that was deep fried, yummmy, yummy, yummy! I ate half and brought home the rest. That being said I’m going to go sit on the couch get a ice-cold glass of milk and finish my desert. Can’t wait to go back. As a matter of fact I am considering having my 60th B-day there! I’ve been criticized in the past by other Unilocalers for writing too short of a review, I hope this suits the crowd of judges. 52 Main is worthy of 6 Stars, can’t wait to go back! PS: Almost forgot, Laci the server was FANTASTIC! Thanks to everyone who made our experience memorable… and a giant SHOUTOUT to Chef Tommy!

I heard of this place after Chef Tommy Stevens(of Hells Kitchen and winner of Cutthroat Kitchen) made this his new home. I had been following him on instagram and after seeing the beautiful plates he was putting out, I had to try it. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Really nice modern interior, very small space with a large bar and open kitchen. My buddy and I sat at the bar and ordered many dishes, the bartender was very helpful and friendly. Coconut Crab Cakes, this was the most underwhelming of all the dishes we got but it was not at all bad. Four very small crab cakes, however very flavorful and tons of crab, plated beautifully. Charred Asparagus, This was incredible… crispy asparagus covered in manchego, over a delicious potato purée, simple yet perfect Brisket Taco, this was on the specials, Chili rubbed brisket tacos, the flavor was amazing Carnitas taco, roast pork and pineapple salsa, this one was unforgettable, the pork was perfectly cooked, super moist and bursting with flavor, the pineapple was a great touch and these looked beautiful Skewers, we ordered the chorizo and the octopus… the octopus was the surprise of the night for me because it tasted so great, really really flavorful, the chorizo was simple but plated beautifully, the sauces were the stars of this one, both tasted great. «Award winning wings», I love wings and I’ve had Chef Stevens wings before so I knew they’d be good, these were excellent. Large portion of very crispy, dripping with sauce wings Pica Pollo, the best way I can describe this would be boneless wings. Described as boneless fried chicken, covered in chipotle honey with bbq dipping sauce… effing great, perfect bar food, large portion of this too, chicken was seasoned perfectly and the bbq sauce was on point Mac ‘n’ Cheese, this was a smoked gouda macncheese with bacon and panko… I saved the best for last, easily the best macncheese I have ever had, the pasta was perfect and the cheese sauce with the bacon, damn this was something I will drive the hour plus drive to get again. I would seriously eat this out of a plumbers butt crack. I would eat this for every meal of every day. Shower me in the cheese sauce, wash my face with the bacon. FUCK this was some good shit. I definitely recommend this place, the service was excellent, food came out quick, drinks brought to us fast… drinks, they have a great beer selection on tap and in bottles and a huge wine selection and I noticed they do wine flights, pretty cool. Plus the Mac and Cheese is crack. I’ll be back someday for sure.

The octopus was pretty good, and the french fries had a nice bite, but the short rib taco’s were terrible(store bought probably frozen tortilla’s, watery unflavored meat), and the $ 30 filet mignon special was perhaps the worst steak I have ever had in a restaurant.

Really Loved this place! The Great: — Wonderful atmosphere — a really mixed crowd, great energy, and fantastic music(think Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald — at least when I was there). — You’re not rushed — I was there on a Friday night with my spouse, and it was a wonderful place to just relax and talk. — The food quality — really solid. I’ve lived in cities that have tapas places, and their menu is pretty nice at great prices. If you go for happy hour, the prices get even better for drinks. — The drinks — The red wine I had was fantastic, and the lager my spouse was recommended ended up being a favorite The Only Detractor: Timing of food — Our«starters» were presented with other parts of the meal… not in advance as an appetizer. — My meal was forgotten entirely. As I continued to wait and other items arrived, it wasn’t until almost the end of the meal when I asked where the steak was… she had forgotten to write it down. She did correct it and put a «rush» on it so it did come later. These are things that could have been due to a busy friday night(which it was), or an inexperienced server… and didn’t really take away from our night out. The food was tasty and fresh — we had the grilled breads with spreads, the sliders with bacon jam, the beef skewers, truffle fries, etc… all done very nicely. Even the small bread and olive oil when you arrive is wonderful with a great olive oil. Overall, for being only 45 minutes away from my home in the Litchfield Hills, it is worth the drive. The town is adorable, and the food and atmosphere are worth the drive. I’ll certainly be back.

I love tapas. I’ve had tapas before, I’m friends with tapas. This, my friend, is no tapas. There are tapas-like things on the menu(I got the papas bravas and grilled octopus, both tapas staples), but then you’re thrown off by hokey bar food(Philly cheesesteak egg rolls?!) and decidedly non-Spanish food, like the duck quesadilla. All in all, this is fancied-up bar food, overpriced to make you feel like you’re eating tapas. My boyfriend got the croquettes, whose marginal amount of filling caused them to deflate when skewered by a fork. Everything was previously frozen, which you could tell just by the quality — the rubbery octopus, the over-cheesed quesadilla, even the chunky fries were uncannily similar to those in a college cafeteria. The service was good, I will say that, with all of the food coming out quite quickly — which probably had to do with the previous state it was in. If you want to be overcharged for sub-par food while you stare at Getty images«art» on the walls, come here! If you want real food, with a less cheesy atmosphere, remember to reserve a table anywhere else(perhaps at Manna Dew, where we were trying to go).

We drove out to Millerton from Central CT and decided to stop at 52 for dinner. Atmosphere was quaint and our waitress was unbelievably upbeat and courteous. Ordered the Pico & Guac app with yucca chips. Decent homemade guacamole, but could have used a lot more cilantro. The entrée concepts were inventive and high end — my girlfriend ordered the Kobe sliders and I went with the short rib arepas. Unfortunately, the execution of each dish was well below our expectations. The sliders were ordered medium rare and delivered medium well. The arepas were visually beautiful, but the short ribs were very dry and dramatically under seasoned. An additional word of warning — if you’re extremely hungry don’t expected to be satisfied by these entrees. The portion sizes are extremely small, which may explain why the prices are so low. All in all, an average dining experience.

Though I didn’t get to sample as much as I wanted, my Angry Orchard, my Tres Leches Bread Pudding, my cousin’s coconut flan, and my friend’s sliders were enough to draw me back for more. Over the years, little Millerton has blossomed into a small yet burgeoning food and culture mecca, and 52 Main, with its deceptively plain name, is one of the jewels in the crown. Offering an array of excellent tapas, drinks, and small desserts, it has something to please everyone. Old high school friends and I gathered one night for a post-Thanksgiving reunion full of small plates, drinks, and desserts, and everything was perfect. The service was on the money as well. In the quiet corner of Northwestern Connecticut where I grew up, options for a lovely bite and drink are limited. Perhaps the drive up to a Great Barrington(where things are normally and relatively more hopping) when I’m visiting home isn’t as necessary as it used to be; a drive to Millerton saves me 10 minutes and Main 52 is a place I want to go back to over and over again. I’ve got a LOT more tapas to try and more Angry Orchard to drink.

Stopped in for a late lunch /early dinner during a ride from Massachusetts. Saw the sign for Tapas and in I went. This is a great bar/restaurant with a nice selection of small plates and wines. The owner was working and she offered excellent and genuine hospitality(«Hello» all other restaurant and bar personnel. Take note.). Had a tapas menu special of grilled skirt steak with some garlic mashed potatoes for $ 10. Excellent and was really a right size portion of food for a lunch or dinner. Also had a small bowl of olives($ 4 and more than I could eat) along with a glass of Portuguese red wine(«Vino Tinto» as they would say in Portuguese) which she suggested and poured a taste prior to me deciding on it. Overall a very nice experience and will definitely stop back in.
