Don’t come here often but I think the prices are comparable of A&P and Stop &Shop. Occasionally have some good sales but overall a bit more expensive than ShopRite(my go to shopping spot). During the week day afternoon, before school lets out, it seems very quiet in here, almost dead. Only a few registers need to be open and there is typically no wait. This may be different on weekends, when everyone stocks up on food for the week. But having no line or crowds to navigate around made this one super fast trip! Some older people seem to shop here and they stroll their cart right down the middle and don’t move for you. I was amazed that they are taking up all the room and giving me a dirty look — when I only have a basket. Workers here border on neutral to no personality. I mean, you ask them a question and they do answer, but there is no emotion whatsoever on their face. A monotone voice. Eyebrows don’t move. I’m both amazed and a little turned off. I don’t expect cashiers to be happy and bubbly, because they probably get cranky oldies or pissy people who read sale prices wrong, but it wouldn’t hurt if they had some life. Definitely a unique shopping experience. But hey I am definitely going to come here as long as they sell my Edward’s cheesecake 2 slice pack. Cost more than Wal-mart, but I don’t think there is a high volume of shoppers here, so they don’t sell out as fast. Yeah!

Prices are fair to a bit more expensive. They largely cater tot he Kosher community and I think that drives up the prices in other areas. If I see a good deal in the circular I come to Acme. If I’m at my favorite liquor store next door I come to Acme. If I’m just doings some random shopping I don’t go to Acme odds are the prices wont be the best.

The only reason I went here to begin with is because they have Amazon lockers so you can get packages delivered there from Amazon and pick them up whenever. The first visit I was a bit turned off by the place. Its in one of those run down looking complexes right off major roads. The prices on a lot of stuff seemed pretty high compared to what I am used to with Stop and Shop or Wegmans(Which i don’t think are even the cheapest in general). I could have just grabbed my package and left but it was after work one night and I needed dinner so I grabbed one of their pre-made subs for $ 5. That made it worth it to do the same kind of thing again next time and my second visit I didn’t find the place to be too bad. There were some redeeming things that made it worth the trip. –The pre-made subs are twice the size for the same price as other run of the mill supermarkets –They have nice selection of pre-chopped vegetables with more options than I have seen at other supermarkets –They have store made things like guacamole or hummus that are a good price –The bakery has a decent selection –There is a decent Kosher section if you are looking for that. –Amazon Lockers Everything else though like the dry goods meats/fish doesn’t seem too impressive. Selection is OK but prices not too great.

I go to Acme to pick up necessities but tend to do the bulk of my shopping elsewhere. The store is neat but I struggle in their produce department with the prices and I don’t like the lighting. Large grocery stores like Acme and Shop Rite are really just not my thing, but I do prefer this Acme to any Shop Rite!

I really try to avoid this acme as much as possible. I find it to be incredibly overpriced with a mediocre selection of items. The staff is sometimes super helpful, but other times downright rude! I read the other review saying it has a large vegan selection. I personally think that while they do have some of the basic Morningstar products, their veg*n selection is nothing to brag about.

Yes, I’m reviewing my local grocery store. Why? Because I think it’s important to get the word out – This Milltown Acme is amazing. Not only does it have everything a supermarket should have, but it goes above and beyond the call of duty by providing an outSTANDING selection of vegan/alternative choices. I’m not vegan myself, but my brother is… and as the primary grocery-buyer of the family, trekking thirty miles down Rt. 1 just to go to Whole Foods in Princeton for the Nayonnaise(vegan mayonnaise — I know, weird)… It wasn’t my favorite chore. The Milltown Acme already had an entire shelf devoted to vegan meats and cheeses, but I asked the customer service desk if they’d consider also stocking Nayonnaise. Lo and behold, exactly TWOWEEKS later, Nayonnaise magically appeared on the condiment shelves. Also, the Milltown Acme is the only store hereabouts that carries AK-MAK whole wheat crackers, the best crackers that you could ever pair with cheeses or spreads. If you haven’t had it, go get it. You’ll thank me.
