Best part of wandering into this place was reading the Unilocal reviews while waiting for a waiter. Thankfully the waiter took long enough for us rethink our dinner decision and just order a beer and Edamame. After reading and laughing to the point of tears all of the other Unilocal reviews, we left. Edamame did not feel, smell or taste right. .out the door we went. Once again, Unilocal reviewers were right. I give this place 1 star for the enjoyment of reading all of the Unilocal reviews!

First thing I have to say about this restaurant is that I’m never going back. I’m glad I finally got to try it out, but that is it. The spontaneous streak in me convinced me to check this place out for lunch. I was really hungry, and I was ready for good Japanese food. As we entered, we were seated fairly right away. The interior was alright. I saw a sushi boat on the other side of the restaurant. There was a group of three people near us, and they seemed to be having a pleasant time. I ordered the tempura entrée, which came with miso soup and a salad. The soup was watered down, and there was one tofu in it. The salad was alright. I didn’t care much for the sauce, though I did munch on the leaves, because I was really hungry. The shrimp tempura was very disappointing. I only got four small AND very skinny shrimp tempuras. I seriously didn’t think shrimp tempuras can get that much smaller! The only reason it looked thick is that the batter was thick, AND it didn’t stick well on the shrimp. Every time I took a bite, the batter literally fell off the dinky shrimp. It seemed like I inhaled the shrimp tempura, but that’s only because they were really tiny. As for the sushi, the california roll was horrible. The rice wasn’t sticky enough. It tasted like the rice that I make at home added with nori and crab. I think the Okami sushi that you can buy at Costco tastes better, and I don’t like store bought sushi that much! My boyfriend ordered the unagi with rice. He said it was alright. Enough said. The service was okay. The waitress poured our glasses twice, which was nice. I did notice that when she wasn’t waiting on tables, she would be on her laptop. Unless she was getting orders via online, I found it tacky that she was on the laptop, visible to the customers. At least do it when no one can see it.

DON’T WASTEYOURMONEYHERE. I came here 3 months ago with my wife and left a «Quick Tip» containing only the previous sentence above but decided to delete it to write a real review. Negatives: –tea was cold –sashimi(sake & maguro) had no flavor –the spider roll I ordered was made COMPLETELY wrong! Each piece was about the size of a regular CA roll. Also, all that was in it was soft shell crab. THAT’S IT! Told the waitress the spider roll was made wrong and had no additional ingredients(which were listed on the menu and I pointed out to her) and she got us another one with tiny bits of avocado but the overall pieces were just as small as the first. Also, it seemed to be put together with even less care this time as some of the pieces were falling apart. She later told us that the sushi chef just got back from a long vacation and said something along the lines of, «he’s rusty.» Sorry, that is B.S. That chef was not«rusty». He clearly didn’t know what he was doing! How do I know? The poorly made sushi was a big hint and also the fact that just about every time I looked over at him he was jumping up and down and doing twists. Yup… he was exercising! Needless to say I will not be coming back… ever.

Sushi restaurants at malls generally have a bad rep and this one is no different. You should never eat sushi at a mall or at least be hesitant to! The tables are sticky which gives an overall feeling this place isn’t very clean. The sushi on the sushi boats look dry like they’ve been out for a very long time. My friend ordered a bento and it was just sloppy. The food tasted so bland and slimy! EW! Please don’t come here.

I’ve been here a few times over the past five years as The Great Mall is a convenient location to meet with my friends who live in the local vicinity. I’ve also learned that sushi/sashimi should not be ordered from a restaurant that is not operated or owned by Japanese. We all ordered the cooked food with the soup, salad and rice. It was satisfactory and we received good service although I was surprised that they charged us for hot tea. The Mayflower Restaurant is always packed when we try to dine there, but Fuji-san is a good option for us. I cannot believe the negative reviews that this place has received.

If I could give negative stars I would. For quality and freshness this place should close down! It’s so expensive it’s ridiculous. Everything we had, had me questioning if I was gonna be sick later on that night. Service was extremely poor. I had to ask multiple times for a refill. & the lady helping us was never around. The boat and chairs were sticky. The only star this place gets is the clean bathroom.

I remember this meal very well. Amazing tea… that’s about it. Usually, when I go to a sushi restaurant with sushi boats… i spend so much money because I can’t resist myself from grabbing all these delicious looking rolls. When I saw what was on this joint’s boats… I couldn’t grab even ONE. They looked so dangerous… I didn’t know you can make sushi so unpresentable and not fresh. I then went on to the menu and saw nothing I liked — that’s almost impossible in a restaurant for me… and since i was craving sushi and was just too hungry, I just ordered some rolls and ika(squid). I prayed that at least the ones I ordered would be fresh and tasty… and God did ANSWER my prayers! FIrst, I loved how the rolls were made up of about 90% rice and 10% not-so-fresh looking sushi. Second, I loved how I had to pay so much for basically all white rice rolls. Third, I loved how awful it tasted. Yea…God said«No.» He did answer…

Horrible place for sushi. This place isn’t even worth getting a quick bite. Granted we got free miso soup but it was just as good as my packets of miso soup i buy at the Japanese store. fish is not fresh and the sushi boat they have nothing is fresh there either. You can definitely see the film the food gets after sitting out for so long. Purchase item on the menu is sake. SAFEBET.

I went here several times on lunch breaks from work just because I was craving for Sushi while I need to buy something inside the mall. I’m giving stars for nice service. They’re really accommodating and all, but the sushi needs more star factor. I guess I’ve eaten here several times enough that now I don’t want to go back at all. They’re not pocket-friendly ya know. So your $$ should just go to something with a better quality.

Passable but not a good value. Rice was on the soft gummy side, showing a lack of care. Place was nearly empty at 6:30 pm. That should have warned me. And don’t trust the award notices posted outside. Service was quick but perfunctory. Plenty of other sushi places better in this area – best to move on.

Last time I went to this place(which was over a year ago), it was my 2nd time eating there. The first time was bad enough and I swore not to eat there again, but a bunch of friends decided to and was dragged into going there again. So, okay, let’s try this again a second time I thought to myself. I thought it was safe to stay away from the sushi altogether and get a bento with some teriyaki beef… but I was wrong. Well, one of those friends wound up getting food poisoning, and I was again not satisfied with the food I got. Not worth the money, and not worth the time to even try. It’s a sushi boat attached to a mall… That usually is a sign to just stay away. and I have yet found a sushi place in a mall I liked. One can only hope.

I’ve been here 2x. It’s kind of pricey and at times I just get a little scared of the sushi. For awhile I contemplated why I had mixed feelings about this place but I figured it out. Have a little music if not some flat screen TV and remove the carpets & expand the space. It’s the feng shui of this place… totally off. I just always pray…“please don’t be in the mood for sushi right now” because this is the only sushi restaurant in the mall!

I don’t think we are going to the same place as the rest of the ppl that commented here. This is the second time for us and it seems like they changed server? My night at fujisan was flawless, great service, sushi was very fresh and our water glasses were never empty. The boss lady talks kind of loud but she was very nice to us and our waiter was very attentive. It was kind of busy but he made sure we were doing ok and refilled our water like five times! Great job and keep up the good work! We took some plates from the sushi boat but when we asked the chef to make us some salmon nigiri, he was more than willing to and sliced us some big pieces!!! Thumbs up on the hamachi too!!! I think ppl here just following otheres to leave bad reviews for Fujisan, I tried Sen Den that has like 4 stars on Unilocal and in my opinion, nothing compare to Fujisan. They have like no service and sushi not as fresh.

Horrible! The lady that was taking our order had food in her mouth and she was talking while her mouth was full. When she tried to talk, food came out of her mouth. They never refilled our water, i actually got up myself and filled it up. Never would i step into this place again.

I had dinner here with my lawyer, so to make him proud, here’s my one star disclaimer: I never give one star ratings unless I give a place multiple chances to succeed. Anyone can have a bad day, but if you mess up more than twice, you get the lone star of shame. Here’s a list of their accomplishments today: A. Fish came out of a vacuum pack, like you buy at Costco. B. Had to ask multiple times for soy sauce, and there were less than 10 customers in the restaurant. C. Grilled squid was overcooked, tasted like Goodyear. D. Didn’t eat off the boats — food wasn’t fresh. E. Waitress grabbed glass with her hands on the inside… then poured beer. F. Fish was frozen. You could tell because it was watery. G. Friendly service… that garnered one star. Shame on me… I should have checked Unilocal first. Just because it’s in an outlet mall doesn’t’ mean it has to be outlet quality.

The little cut up swimmers were overpriced & sat out on the boats cooking in the daylight for way too long. The sushi chef was trying, I could see that. So therefore the 2 stars.

Located right across the ticketing booths of the multiplex movie theater by the Great Mall is the 2nd and only remaining location of Fuji $an Sushi(the flagship restaurant at Milpitas Square closed a few months ago and in its place is a Korean tofu stew shoppe) that seemingly still seems to be around for perhaps a multitude of inexplicable reasons(other than the fact that half decent A$N food in mall$ is typically defined by Panda Expre$$) I wrote about the original location here Interesting the main shop is Fujisan Sushi. At the Great Mall it is Fuji San Sushi. In Chinese it’s Mount Fuji Sushi for both locations. However the separation of Fuji and San in the name for the Great Mall location makes it read like it is Mister Fuji, rather than Mount Fuji. So regardless of both the English and Chinese names not making any sense(why would you name a sushi restaurant after a dormant volcano in the first place and thus suggesting a SNOOZER, in a mountainous region or in the countryside of Japan where fresh seafood wouldn’t be a main attraction, rather local produce and hot springs), the offering$ absolutely do not warrant a visit whatsoever. I have nothing but great love for my Chinese and Taiwanese people. If this were a clone of a sushi boat moat straight out of Taiwan where they import fish from Japan and use local Taiwan fish for sashimi(where a plate of aji nigiri is NT$ 60 or two George W’s, that’s George WASHINGTON) then it’s all good to me. Unfortunately nigiri $ushi and jive a$$ roll$ here do not give you any bang for your buck$. Variety is somewhat limited to the commonly seen stuff and not very good quality nor cuts, similar to the former first location. You are better off getting your A$N fix(food that is) at Milpitas Square, or heck even Banana Leaf(godfather and forefather of South Bay Malaysian, though not necessarily at the top of their game anymore) at McCarthy Ranch before shopping at the mall or hitting a movie. If you are really desperate for nigiri and rolls, like I said in the other review, Sushi Maru in Milpitas off Calevaras at the Milpitas Town Center, a subsidiary of the Sushi Tomi/Maruichi Ramen etc conglomerate where the variety is great as is the quality(especially for a sushi boat moat place), for a similar cost. Mister Fuji could surely take some lessons from Mister Maru.

Totally forgot this place existed here at the mall. I figure I give it a shot. I’ve had my fair share of sushi places around the South Bay. Having this be at the mall, my expectations were low. So its all uphill when you are right at the bottom. The interior had me in high spirit. It was very clean, bright, and modern. The sushi«chef» who was actually Asian(japanese I’m not sure) greeted me. We were here for a quick bite so we just sat at the«boat». So far so good. A nice positive thing at this place is you don’t have to ask for extra wasabi and ginger if you run out because a few boats have them for the taking. This is nice if you feel intimidated to bother the«chefs» at work. If first impressions without tasting food was the basis of this review, they would’ve got a good review. Unfortunately for them it is not. I grab a few rolls, california, unagi, etc. The basics. Price wise it «seemed» a bit cheaper than other places. So how did it taste, it tasted like it was there for a while or the rice they use SUCKED. The wasabi also wasn’t too hot. I use A LOT of wasabi, and I had to put a lot more t han usual just to get the heat started. The fake crab, avocado, unagi, etc were satisfactory, but the rice ruined the entire thing. My significant other ordered some type of noodle soup. That was good and I had no complaints. The service was below average, not really much to say here, had to ask for everything. Almost reminds me of being at most/any Vietnamese restaurants, they only serve you once you get in, but once you order and get your food, you are not even there. I’ll probably eat here again for a quick bite of some fake sushi(california rolls). I didn’t get an upset stomach or anything so thats a plus. If the food and service were satisfactory or better, this review would’ve got another star or 2. The price and atmosphere is right, so they get 2 for that.

I get a hundred of these messages a day: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Dear David Lately I’ve been waking up with no desire to get out of bed. Maybe its the pointlessness of my dead end job, the loveless marriage I endure, or the painful remnants of abandoned hope of meaning in my life, that heavies my body and wets my pillow. Ordered. Food came out about 5 – 10 minutes. Quality was okay. The waitress that seated us and brought out our food, would not stop bugging us about what it was we wanted, and on top of that, she had such a thick accent that we couldn’t understand what it was she was trying to tell us. I understand that she’s trying to be polite, but she really didn’t have to give us any added pressure on ordering food. Oh, and what’s the deal with the 2 different entrances? The architecture for this building sucks. I’m used to going to sushi resturaunts that only have one way in, one way out, and a way out in the back for employees, but this place has 2 different entrances, so it makes it kinda confusing as to where to enter, where to be seated, where to pay, and where to wait for someone to seat you. This will be my first, and last time ever visiting this place to eat.
