It was pretty good. At least, I liked it. But went there the other day and … ITWASCLOSED!

This is a good place to go if you want to avoid the lines over in Milpitas Square or if you’re out late and want to get a good bite. Otherwise there’s not much to say about, a broth that doesn’t set itself apart, noodles that don’t have much texture, and kimchi that isn’t very fermented.

Don’t be mislead by the low ratings. This place is definitely worth it. Open till 3am on weekends? Come on! Good luck finding ramen this late. I had the Shoyu(Salt ramen), it is definitely a little under Mitsuwa’s, but a little better than Orenchi’s(I hate Orenchi’s Salt, but love their Orenchi). If you wan’t to try this place DON’T HESITATE!!!

This place is OK … I normally go to Halu Ramen and since this place is close to where I live decided to give it a try. Prices are moderate, the dining experience was peaceful(there was no one eles there) Taste was okay, the service was very good. The Waitress was attentive, probably cause we were the only ones there at dinner time. I may go here again if I need to get a quick ramen fix. I wish I could write something special they did but I cannot.

I didn’t even know that they opened in here. They were OK but quite ordinarily style of Japanese Ramen place. Similar to Dohatsuten. I tried Spicy Green Onion and the broth was too salty. Their Chashu Bowl was too oily. Their post sticker was deep fried but I prefer a fried style. I assume they are targeting a younger range. I will try once again in next month to see if there are any difference.

The entrees here are about $ 8-$ 12 each, which I think would justify letting you pay with credit cards, but no, it’s cash only right now. The food is not great; the white tuna bowl had a funny sweet taste to it, and the ramen tasted salty and oddly funky… hard to describe, but it wasn’t likeable. Probably the only redeeming quality was that the servers were nice, and the service was okay. But I probably wouldn’t come back here even if some friends wanted to try it out.

dude… this place is awesome. I strongly feel all the bad reviews must have been written by a bunch of vaginas ok… first, why would you even complain about the décor. I’m here to eat RAMEN, not the walls. & would anyone seriously walk in to this type of establishment expecting high class ornamentation??? c’mon people, let’s not remain fixated on completely irrelevant trivialities Karm E’s review was pretty much on the spot. in summary, it’d be nice if the egg were soft boiled but essentially it’s a pretty awesome bowl of ramen. the broth is flavorful and the noodles have a fantastic consistency. I’m not a purist so I don’t have«real» good authentic ramen standards to judge by, but for reference I love santouka’s ramen, and orenchi’s house ramen is good too. I haven’t seen the ground pork and very thinly sliced pepper garnishes before but it tasted good and isn’t that really all that matters lol. and yeah, it doesn’t look like a whole lot but the portion is definitely fulfilling. my only complaint really was that there was waaay too much chopped chives in my bowl. 2, the ramen wasn’t salty to me. but even if it were, ramen by nature is salty… Oh… they have SHIO flavor(translation: SALT) and it was what? salty? what a surprise… and good lord the pork was fatty. have u ever seen a lean pig? if that’s a part of your complaint then maybe you shouldn’t even be eating ramen because I’ve never had a bowl of ramen that wasn’t served with fatty pork. if you don’t like seafood, don’t eat sushi. as for service, the waitress/waiter takes your order and brings you your food. and refills your water if you are that thirsty. I don’t see how service would be a 3⁄5 unless he or she had been majorly lame with a bad attitude but the rating shouldn’t be a 60% by default. maybe these Unilocalers wanted to be mouth fed and their asses wiped for ‘em after the meal too? who knowz granted, the lack of AC, I feel, would be a legitimate premise for a complaint but while I dined, the temperature was fine. it was at night though. and finally, $ 7.95 is too pricey for ramen? just stay home, man. open your top ramen and enjoy, you cheap mother!@#$%^. I bet you didn’t tip either. all jokes aside, I really don’t think 8 bucks is a lot for an entirely satisfying meal and what’s more, I don’t think you’ll find ramen for cheaper anywhere else either… even that shitty joint a block over is similarly priced. the only redeeming quality there is that their gyoza is off the hook, but the gyoza here tastes just as bomb. basically, the food is good, and as far as I know it’s the only ramen place that doesn’t close by 7. on the weekends they close as late as 3 a.m. so that’s pretty damn awesome/convenient. it’s not infrequent for me to fiend for ramen late at night so this opening is a godsend. I’ll definitely be back for many nights to come. p. s. maruichi is garbage p. p. s. really folks, learn how to sift through the bs reviews. I’m compelled to write this because some reviews are really unfair. I wasn’t deterred by the misleading opinions and ended up having a delicious meal and discovering a new favorite spot EDIT: so I liked it so much that I came back the following day in the presence of new company. I realized this time that my bowl from the night before should have come with a slice of pork. Not a big deal I guess but when they charge you a dollar per extra slice I’d say that’s worth mourning over

*** Cash Only *** FuFuKen ramen is very similar to Dohatsuten’s( ) namesake ramen with spicy ground pork and chili threads. I was going to say«knock-off», but I see one review that says they have the same owner as Dohatsuten(DHST). They have fewer ramen options than DHST with choice of broth(miso, shio, shoyu, tonkotsu) with the same toppings of spicy ground pork, ½ egg, bamboo shoots, chashu slice, chives, sprouts, sheet of nori, and chili threads. Also Chashu ramen with extra pork and two veggie ramen options(iirc). All the bowls are $ 7.95(so no Tonkotsu upcharge like DHST) except the Chashu which is $ 9.95. They have sets with the $ 7.95 bowls plus Gyoza or rice bowls(curry, tuna, etc) ranging up to $ 10.95(+$ 3) for the pork belly rice bowl. I got Set C(priciest set @ $ 10.95) with pork belly rice bowl and Tonkotsu broth. No alcohol license, but complimentary black tea. The food came out and the ramen looked a little chive heavy with most of the toppings submerged( ). The rice bowl looked nice with the pile of scallions and slivers of nori on top of the pork belly( ). The broth started out tasting OK, but got saltier the deeper I got into the bowl. Not sure if it was the spicy pork mixing in or if the tare & soup base weren’t blended well to start. I think they use some MSG as my tongue was feeling cottony when I left. I couldn’t finish the broth because of the saltiness and I’m an avowed salt-a-holic. I liked the toppings. The one half-dollar sized chashu was slightly fatty and had nice flavor. The spicy pork & chili threads added some kick to the whole bowl. .. I was getting my sweat on. The ½ egg was hard-boiled and lightly seasoned. It was not over-boiled and was tasty even if it wasn’t oozing yolk. Aside from looking nice, the pork bowl was a big miss. The pan fried pork belly was OK in spots, but overcooked, burned, and hard in others. The rice was also pretty wet and not from the sauce on the pork. Maybe I misread the menu and it said Jook w/pork?(I kid) I took a picture, but it doesn’t quite show how wet it was( ). I picked at the pork and left most of the rice alone. Maybe Tuesdays are slow or I was there early, but I was the only customer from 6:30 to 7:30. Ramen: 3 stars — need to work on that broth. Toppings pretty good Pork belly rice bowl: 1.5 star They still have their Grand Opening sign up so hopefully will improve over time.

After the reading the reviews I was very skeptical about this place but my friend wanted to give it a try and it wasn’t too bad. first of all, AVOIDTHEPORKBELLYFATRICEBOWL, it is super salty and not worth anything unless you want to use it to add some extra salt to your broth. On the other hand I enjoyed the white tuna bowl they had. Price-wise it is about the same as any other ramen place and service is okay, just not great. Portions are alright, it looked like a small bowl at first but it’s not as shallow as other places. The pork meat they have is sorta fatty but it is not as tough as other places either. The meat they have is really well seasoned. The décor is really lacking, sure it looks clean but it’s super plain. All in all, I wouldn’t mind coming back here but i’d probably prefer going to the nearby maruichi instead.

Foods taste ok and in a regular portion at a high price, no wifi, no tv, no air at all… better look for somewhere else. Menu is very limited but fine. We ordered some Tonkotsu Ramen combo with curry rice and gyoza. The ramen, I may not able to tell, does not taste like they are freshly made in the store. Soup base is yummy, not too oily. Curry rice tastes yummy. Deep fried tofu is so-so. The chef did send some time in decorate the plate and it appealed very nice. Price are simlar to Maru Ichi. Anyhow, what really matter is the experience itself… for sure, the restaurant is not appealing at all. When you walk in, you don’t see Japanese magazines, toy, deco of any assemble of a ramen place. Walls are painted very dark and the ceiling has painted black. Tables are old and greasy. Apparently they used tape to tape down some peeling corners. The restaurant have no wifi(at least is not working) and tv, just some loud musics. To me, I would rather go one more block to Maru Ichi for a better experience. This is why Maru Ichi always crowded.

The place has been open for just over a month and still has the grand opening sign. Sadly it’s already on the downhill. Actually it’s hitting the bottom of the bottom. Avoid this place at all cost for now unless: 1. you enjoy warm air inside on a hot day eating hot soup 2. you enjoy flapping your hands every minute to cast multiple flies away 3. you enjoy raising your arm to get attention from the server when the place is half empty 4. you enjoy 20 – 30 minutes to get your ramen on a half empty restaurant 5. you enjoy asking them not to add bean sprout and find bean sprout when it comes out so you get to order again which leads to another 10 minutes 6. you enjoy ordering mini rice and ramen so you can have mini rice first while waiting for ramen but turns out they forget the rice until I finish the remen 7. you enjoy not hearing a single apology after all the mess ups 8. you enjoy eating bland ramen with no real taste 9. you enjoy eating mini vegetable over rice that is also very bland 10, you enjoy getting the attention without trying only when you were paying 11. you enjoy being able to pay only by cash Yup. I paid $ 9.95 for the set B of ramen and mini rice. You be the judge whether to eat here or not. For your reference, here is the quote from my friend. «That must worth the shittiness for the whole week combined. Hope the rest of the day doesn’t follow the same path»

My friend suggested this place for a late dinner! I called her up last minute to see if she can pick me up from the SJ Airport. I told her I’ll treat, so pick any restaurant. She said she wanted to give this restaurant a try since it’s new. We ordered the chicken karage, agedashi tofu, and each ordered a ramen dish. It was pretty tasty and the restaurant is clean. The service is fast. I live so close to here, so yes I will be back to try their other items. The prices are very reasonable here!

Pretty good… It very tasty… Would come back again. I noticed the reviews were bad in the beginning post, just maybe they are getting use to the ingredients, temperature, and the new environment. It’s always good to give everyone a chance, and that’s what we did. Price — Check /Reasonable! Food Quality — Doesn’t taste like I’m in Japan, but very descent. Quantity — Just right, not too full, not too much. Environmennt — Needs some new wall stuff, but pretty clean. I wish them good luck, and I’ll be back. PS buy a TV& Use A Huge Chalkboard with Japanese writing to make it look cool.

Just ate here with B and M after seeing the Grand Opening sign; about half full at 12:30 on a Saturday. Service(3⁄5) There was only one server. He was polite but not particularly attentive. After he seated us, he didn’t give us any menus and went off to slowly count someone’s change. After waiting for a while, we finally got our menus. Orders came quickly. Atmosphere(3⁄5) Clean. Décor was very plain(M thought that it looked like a streetside restaurant), could be improved. Music was a little too loud. Food(2⁄5) I got the Shoyu(soy sauce) Ramen and M got Miso Ramen. F got one of the sets with Tonkotsu(pork broth) Ramen and mini curry rice. All of the ramen(except for the Chashu Ramen) have: pork slice(too small, especially considering that more than half of it was fat), egg(only half :(I expected a whole egg…), Chinese chives, bean sprouts(barely any! Another disappointment), spicy minced pork(I liked the slight spiciness), bamboo shoots(only three small pieces. Disappointing) and a square of dried seaweed. Noodles were chewy and had a nice texture. My Shoyu broth was good, if a little salty. M’s Miso broth was a little too thick and also too salty. F’s Tonkotsu broth was also too salty. Maybe it’s just our tastes. But there was quite a lot of MSG in there too… I didn’t want to drink too much of the water though, after looking to my left and seeing the server filling up cups directly from the kitchen tap. The curry rice was good but very simple: minced pork and miniscule pieces of carrot, plus sauce made from curry powder. Price(0⁄5) Ramen are $ 7.95/bowl(except for the Chashu Ramen); the set was $ 9.95. Considering the bowl size and the paucity of toppings, it was WAYOVERPRICED. Also you can pay $ 1 extra each for an egg, bamboo shoots, seaweed, or spicy green onions; and $ 2 extra each for 2 pieces of sliced pork, minced pork, or spicy cod roe. We didn’t get any extra toppings, but I must say, these are also overpriced; $ 1 per small fatty slice of pork? Seriously. OVERALL(2⁄5) Food was decent. Something to fill your belly when you’re just really, really hungry and all the other stores are closed. NOT worth the price though! Would I eat here again? Probably not…

I used to frequent Dohatsuten in Palo Alto for my ramen fix since I really enjoyed the miso flavored broth(it’s different from other miso flavored ramen that I have tasted). I learned that the owner of Dohatsuten in Palo Alto and Fremont opened a new location in Milpitas. I went, but was surprised to see that the restaurant’s name wasn’t Dohatsuten, but Fu Fu Ken. Kinda funny name. Entering upon the place, it was pretty spacious, but the décor could use improvement. Pretty big enough to serve a large party. It’s a lot more spacious than Palo Alto to say for the least. Now, I usually don’t write reviews unless they are memorable or horrible, but this place is relatively new, so I decided to give my opinion for those who are still on the fence about visiting this place. Anyway, went on a Friday night, surprisingly there weren’t very many customers. The menu has the standard fare of Ramen choices similar to Dohatsuten. Had to ask the waiter about the Chashu ramen, but basically, it’s an «extra chashu» option that you can add to any ramen. I didn’t see much dessert choices, but thats the same for Palo Alto. Miss the Panna Cotta and Green Tea Tiramisu :( I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. The serving was generous, despite it’s looks. Now, I’m a big guy, and I finished it satisfied. My opinions on the Ramen: The soup was a tad salty. I asked the waiter about it, and she brought me some soup base which allowed me to dilute it down to perfection. Understandable since the restaurant just opened, and I’m pretty sure all the cooks are new. Guys, if it’s too salty, say something! The helpful waitresses will do something about it. The egg wasn’t soft-boiled like Dohatsuten’s eggs. Boo. The noodles were cooked great. Not perfect, but they sure had the right chewiness too it. The chashu was cooked good. No complaints here. I was surprised they added ground pork into it here. It comes with a bit of chili, so if you cant handle spicy make sure you tell the waiter. Anyway, overall, the ramen was pretty good. I tried maruichi’s ramen, but I perfer the flavors here since they have a «kick» to it that shines over most ramen places despite it’s limited menu. If you guys are in the area, check out Fu Fu Ken. The food is good and the waitresses are attentive. I’ll be back.

It was just aiight. Nothing that really wow’ed me about this place. Broth was too salty for my liking and I usually like it a little salty– this was too much. For the kim chee fried rice, we thought it was cool when they served it on a hot plate not mixed yet, but when we mixed it, the bottom was just oil drenched burnt rice-Yuck. Better off going to Maruichi next door.

Went there at 12:30pm on Tues and the restaurant was half full. I ordered the Chashu Ramen with Tonkotsu soup base. Soup: salty but i like the tasty ground pork and diced red pepper Noodle: Chewy and ok Meat: 4 slides of fatty Chasu(pork belly); it says premium on the menu but i doubt it. Too much fat. Noise level: Loud diners + loud rock music Server/customer service: The Japanese servers are very attentive and nice.

Pretty decent ramen place just opened in Milpitas square. It’s definitely not on my favorite list but it’s good enough for me to hit up when I’m in a rush for lunch and craving ramen. I had the tonkatsu ramen and the broth was decent and came w/an egg which was a semi attempt to be half raw inside. The broth has a little kick to it from the red peppers. Gyozas were just ok… Ok eats if you’re craving ramen and close by!

I’ve never had such nasty ramen until I set foot in FuFuKen and I thought I was pretty tolerable with noodle dishes! We came on a Saturday for lunch after meeting their server girl standing outside promoting the new shop. Their menu looked quite similar to Maruichi, offering individual ramen choices and sets. We got a Shio ramen(salt flavor), a tonkotsu ramen set including pork belly on rice. Both ramen soup failed horribly. Salty, full of MSG, with bits of black stuff floating around that I had no way of seperating them from the soup. The noodle was the thin kind but not too chewy, can’t say it was overcooked, but it just lacked any character at all. I can’t speak for the tonkotsu, but my Shio came in with the egg and a piece of pork meat cold. The pork belly rice had better flavor due to the sauce, but the rice was really mushy, like a thick porridge. The servers all seemed to speak Japanese among themselves, but the service was just OK. Not too warm(consider it was their grand opening stage). So would I come back again? Nah… Maruichi next plaza would suffice.
