Did not enjoy our first time here. The rice was very sour and wet, the unagi roll had only a hint of unagi– it should be called cucumber roll! The salad was days old, and chicken wasn’t cooked well. Quality of food is really poor. Didn’t finish any of our order. Will never come back again even if it was free.

Quite possibly the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Strange texture to it, the sauces all tasted off, the quality just wasn’t there at all. I feel gross and couldn’t even finish eating it. Had the potstickers too and they were fried and had some weird breading on them even though the picture did not show it like that. Like a previous commenter said, the lettuce in my salad was not cold or fresh-it was room temperature or warmer so it was not particularly pleasant.

Second time at this place. Craved sushi so we decided to check it out again. We arrived 15min from closing time but they allowed us to enter and order. Staff was more attentive and friendlier than last time. Good wasn’t as good though. Chicken katsu wasn’t dry but the batter was different. Good sized meal portions. Ingredients in the udon was fresh but the beef broth seemed like it was from a can or carton. The dragon and caterpillar rolls we ordered tasted similar. The mayo sauce on the roll did not compliment the sushi.

I wouldn’t say this place is GREAT, but I wouldn’t say it’s HORRIBLE. The place was totally empty upon walking in and that was a huge red flag. But since we were already there let’s eat! The menu is pretty limited and has your basics. Not impressed with the menu at all. BUT, let’s just try it. It actually wasn’t that bad. This is more of a lunch place I’d say. Would I go back, sure, for a quick lunch maybe. Would it be my first Sushi choice, not really. The service was very good, the staff was really nice. Maybe in time they will step up their roll game! Till then, It’s not a bad place, food is decent and prices are reasonable.

The new owners took over in January 2016. The restaurant was clean and the service was great! My favorite was the caterpillar roll, it was AMAZING. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful. Give this place a try if ever in the area, you won’t be sorry!

Not bad. Upon reading the bad reviews I thought my experience would be horrible or negative. I have had worse sushi experiences in the past and this is not one of them. The sushi was good… Is there better? OFCOURSE there are better restaurants. Would I come back? Yes I would. The waiter screwed up bad lol She must’ve had a stressful day or she could have been new? She mixed up our order with someone else. She served us the wrong thing thereafter. Maybe she didn’t hear correctly idk but her english was pretty damn good to not misunderstand. The chef seemed irritated with her and she seemed nervous so IDK what happened prior to my visit. I still had a good experience but I was starving to say the least. She never checked to refill our tea and we always had to call her over to ask so I thought that was bad customer service regardless if she’s new… it’s just common courtesy/sense but that’s just my opinion and we know all opinions are stinky hehe. What was weird upon ordering was that she took 1 persons order at our table of 2 and when I went to give her my order she just walked away LOLIDK what that was but I was in a good mood so I patiently waited and we called her back over after she served others and took others orders(at other tables mind you)…was very weird but when we called her over to take my order she acted as if she knew already so not sure what to think. To me, it seemed she completely forgot but maybe there is noone in the back and she is taking orders and cooking? Who knows but it was extremely unprofessional. I mean… who the hell takes only 1 persons order at a table and completely walks away?!? After all this, I’d still go back… I do agree with others, it’s pricey for what you get but then again, it’s the bay area… 3 stars because they needa get their shit together but I would give more for the food alone. My visit made me happy with the quality. I def had worse in the past but the food outweighs the poor customer service.

I’m surprised this place has 2 stars. I ordered the Dragon roll and a combo plate and it was really good. Fish was fresh and the presentation was nice as well. Place is quaint and very small but it has sushi boats and the place is very clean. Staff was friendly as well and attentive.

Note to self: Don’t eat here ever again! I ordered a chirashi bowl, salad and gyoza. The lettuce tasted room temperature and the dressing was unlike any dressing I’ve had at a sushi restaurant. Almost mayo-like…the chirashi bowl was 89% rice and 8 tiny pieces of assorted fish and shrimp. Maybe a tablespoon of seaweed and artificial crab. No sauce. Gyoza tasted like they had reheated in the microwave. I hope the owner makes a decision to serve better food.

Terrible. Don’t go. Was here for lunch. Fish was mealy and watery — a sure sign of being frozen. No taste at all. Portions were small. Sushi rice was undercooked. No refills were given on tea.

having lunch with my bro. Watch the sushi chef preparing our salmon skin roll. Watch him cut off the tip of his finger. See him find the finger piece among our salmon skin. Then continues to prepare our roll. Called over the server to tell him it’s a no go on the«finger» roll. Check pls! Gross.

Food is ok, about what you would expect from a strip — mall fast-food sushi place. Staff is great though. Very prompt and attentive service. Miso soup was good. Prices were competitive. Overall it was a good value

When my family has a sushi craving, we call ahead for orders here. They’re pretty good prices for basic sushi. My sister loves the California Rolls, and I love the Avocado Rolls. I get them with Unagi or Inari. It’s so cheap, and since it’s located right by a boba place, it’s the best combo!

This place is actually pretty good. I have no idea why they don’t have more traffic(other than location). I’m always here during a lunch rush and I’m actually really happy that they’re open and not jam-packed when I need to grab food on the go. The boyfriend and I have never eaten in-house and have always gotten take-out. It takes a good minute so we always leave for drinks at cha-time and come back… typically once we finish our drinks. But that never takes too long at all. The food is packed with such care. It looks like an advertisement most of the time. Probably nicer than most sushi places serve to you if you dine-in! The only peeve of mine is when I ask for wasabi and ginger on the side, it’s literally on the side. of the box and not in separate containers. So my boyfriend always HASTO eat those specific pieces since I can’t eat either ginger or wasabi.

The sushi here tastes great, with the fish always being fresh. However, it’s still pricey(as sushi always is) but it’s still definitely better priced than other stores. Service isn’t the fastest, but they have a nice range of sushi/sashimi/nigiri. Staff is really nice and friendly, with the store being very clean. c: One of my favorite sushi places when it comes to quality, pricing, and taste. My only complaint is that the location could be a little bit more convenient. I’m a regular here, and will continue to be one in the future. c:

I Don’t know about anyone else’s review but this sushi to me is awesome! Compared to overly priced sushi you can get the same thing here The fish is always fresh and nice. Never a bad smell walking in like other sushi spots I’ve been at that people rave about. The people are extremely nice and always so welcoming. They messed up one of my rolls out of the many times I’ve gone but never hesitated or made a face that they messed up. They gladly took everything back and prepared me a new order. Now that service you will not get anywhere! I haven’t tried Everythjng on the menu but so far it’s great food great prices awesome atmosphere ! Some people are sometimes just too picky and pin point every detail Enjoy the food.

Nice customer service. I think we got the king sushi roll and it was pretty good. We also got the chicken teriyaki bento with California rolls. My daughter loves the chicken and she is very picky about her food.

Sushi King doesn’t deserve the severity of the some of the negative reviews, although it will definitely be a sushi place I will have no desire to return to. Being a frequent visitor of McCarthy Ranch for at least 15 years, I had to let curiosity get the best of me by seeing why this place hasn’t gone out of business yet based on opinion. The inside is clean but empty and somewhat depressing. Even during lunch when the waiter asks for you to sit at the bar where the boats float, we turned it down because all the boats were empty and sushi-less. That was an odd sight. It also didn’t help that as we were trying to decide what to order, the waiter stood over us and asked us literally every 15 seconds if we were ready yet. Personal space, please! I ordered the chirashi bowl and the slices of sashimi were very thin so $ 16.95 for this assortment felt expensive. The taste was average. The three-item bento box included fried tofu which tasted much more like tempura so order some tempura sauce to really enjoy this. As long as you tell yourself it’s not tofu, this is good. The chicken teriyaki felt more like soy-sauce. The beef teriyaki was extremely tough and chewy. The sauce wasn’t that good.
