Party of 3: we walked in and was asked to sit anywhere. We got wasabi first from the lady, and she went back to the cashier stand and was watching movies on her laptop. I know because I can hear it all the way where we were sitting. Chef is reading a book. It took 15 minutes and we still NEVER got our menus. Got up, walked out, and went to outbacks right next door. its not what we wanted, but the roast beef was pretty good.

Service was cool. Food was good. I liked the breaded porkchop, Philly roll, and chicken terryaki.

Service here sucks. Whenever the lady gives you something she taps you with it. She’ll bring me my box and tap me with it to get my attention. She’ll bring me my check, reach across my friend, and tap me with the tray to get my attention. What happened to the words«excuse me» ??? She doesn’t even fill up my water. Basically she sucks ass. Hate her. Plus there are always cholos outside watching you eat. Creeps me out.

It’s not like Fujisan is serving bad food but there is really nothing good about this place. I will only eat here if all other restaurants at Milpitas Square are totally packed and I am starved to the point that I can no longer move. Their sushi is just tasteless and overpriced.

I couldn’t give Fujisan a 1-star because it wasn’t god-awful or anything. It just wasn’t anything to rave home about. The sushi lacked flavor and the service was a bit pushy. I don’t like having to tell my server ever 2 minutes, «yes, i’m still eating this.» I felt like the minute we walked in here, they were rushing for us to leave. Weird, cause it was pretty empty on a Saturday night.(telling sign) My boyfriend grew up eating here but since the new location, the quality and taste has faded far from what it used to be.

honestly I suspect them recycling there sushi on the sushi boat. The sushi look so old and gross, it looks like it was made a century ago, puke feast! So, where should I start with my rant. Well, the service, WHATSERVICE. Because of the weird elongated design of the restaurant, if you happen to be so unlucky and get packed at one of the end, that’s the end of service for your meal. Food, yuck, avoid sushi bar and maybe you won’t get food poisoned. The food is just terrible, I don’t even feel like being witty and write something mean and funny. Not worth my time. Simply put, terrible!

Everything seemed to be fine when my family and I got there. We ordered 2 salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, and California/tempura bento boxes. Service was quick, there was not a large lunch crowd. I had the salmon teriyaki and tempura bento box. The miso soup was nice, and the salad was good too. Tempura was delicious– they gave me an assortment of six pieces(carrot, sweet potato, two shrimp, broccoli, and squash) The portions were substantial– I was content. until i got to my SALMON. My salmon was RAW. very raw. It was mushy and darker color inside– it was definitely undercooked! Usually, whenever I order salmon teriyaki, the fish is cooked well. This was not the case and I was very disappointed! It got WORSE, I found a piece of wire(not a bone, but an actual piece of hard wire) in my fish. At this point I was completely put off. I told the waitress and she apologized. She made my meal free and ordered another free bento box for me. At least they did that. To sum it up– my meal was horrible. The rest of my family liked the food though, I guess I got unlucky!

My Ratings: Quality of Food — 1 Star Quantity of Food — 1 Star Price — 1 Star Location — 1 Star Parking — 1 Star Service — 1 Star Speed — 1 Star My Opinion/Story: Whoever voted more than 1 star for this place really doesn’t know their japanese food. This place doesn’t even deserve a star. You are either starving or just doesn’t know any better. This place is the WORST Japanese restaurant ever. Not even sure if Japanese people own or work here… because that would be degrading their heritage. Most of the real japanese restaurants I know value quality and service the most. This place doesn’t deserve to continue their business. They’re like the Mr. Chow for Japanese food. Really bad quality and really bad service. They don’t refill unless you yell at them to do it, they take long with your food, and they’re pricey. The only time we went there, one of the servers sneezed behind my husband and didn’t even say sorry or excuse me nor did she wash her hands as she handled our food. So that alone should have made us run out of the place. But we stayed and still waited for our order. My order was wrong and it took me a long time to get one of the server’s attention. She gave me an attitude as she took my wrong order to get the right one after she insisted that it was the right order. It took a while before my right order came out and by then I really didn’t want to eat my food with thoughts of bad things being put in my dish. It’s just the worst ever experience. The same lady brought us our check as she slammed it on our table. But we did leave that place without tipping her. No point in giving tips for bad service.

I’ve always had a mental list of things I would do NEVERAGAIN… One day I was bored and made an actual list of all the things I swore to myself that I would NEVER do again… A few of them include watching spoof movies, anything by M. Night Shayamalan, and driving to Santa Cruz on 4th of July. I failed to include FUJISANSUSHI on my list. Well, now I remember. I swear, every time I leave Fujisan, I have to tell myself, DONOTCOMEHEREAGAIN! The only reason why I come here is because it’s conveniently located across from the movie theater. The sushi isn’t even all that great. As a matter of fact, the avocado was all dark, I almost broke a tooth from the rice being so dried up and hard, and the service was just HORRIBLE. The workers could barely speak english and didn’t even know what a Philly Roll was. Either the service sucked so bad or the waitress had A.D.D. because I had to ask for water almost 5 times. I would rather eat molded sushi from 7-Eleven that’s been sitting out for days unrefridgerated than eat here again! I’ve officially added Fujisan Sushi to my «NEVERAGAIN» list.

Got out of the movie theater across the way. Feeling a bit disappointed with the latest Indy Jones flick and wanted to drown my sorrow with a bowl of Sukiyaki. Decided to give this place a try. Mall sushi, heck, how bad could it be? The minute I walked in, I knew the choice I had made wasn’t one of my best. It was Thursday night and the place was deserted. No wait staff in sight to greet us and after standing there for a little while, the sushi chef gestured us to pick a table to sit. Yeah, could have turned around and walked out but decided to stay and tough it out. The décor — or the lack thereof — was… well, I’m not an interior decorator so let’s just say it was something the owner had decided to skip on this luxury. Cleanliness also was lacking; there were wooden chopstick sleeves and remnants of Edamame soy kernel all over the floor. It would have just taken minutes to clean these up. None of the two waitresses seemed to care. Twenty minutes after we had placed our order, the food arrived. They looked decent. My girlfriend ordered Unagi Donburi. It tasted like Unagi Donburi should taste so nothing special or memorable there. I ordered beef Sukiyaki. Sadly to say, it was one of the worst I had tasted over the years from numerous Japanese restaurants. It was bland and didn’t taste like a Sukiyaki dish should. Seasoned it with a soy sauce on the table helped a little. Just a little. And the beef? Well, I would hardly called a few slices of beef a beef dish. It was more like the beef was a mere garnish instead of being part of the main entrée. During the meal, the youngest of the two waitresses came by to check if I had wanted more greet tea. «Yes, please.», I said. She came back with a kettle and poured the tea into my cup and hastily walked off. Curiously, she didn’t bother to check my girlfriend’s tea cup, which was less than half full. Needless to say, she was not amused. A little while later, we asked the older of the two waitresses for a refill on our greet tea cups. «Wait a minute.», she said and never did she returned to fill her promise. When the bill came, I had opted to pay with my ATM card. The young waitress brought the sale slip over and hovered over me while I calculated out her tips. This made for an uncomfortable situation for me. It was quite an experience; albeit, not a good one. Would I recommend this place? Well, only if you had to have Japanese food(and I use the term«Japanese food term loosely) within five minutes or you’ll die, then yes. Other then that, I would suggest you go somewhere else to satisfy your craving.

Very poor quality sushi. I tried one dish off the boat parade, and the roll tasted very bad. I ordered the Dragon Roll and California Roll. Both were very small, and did not have a fresh and crisp taste. Sushi chefs seemed bored with their work, and were not friendly as compared to the other places I have been. Not recommended!

This is the real, the first Fuji San Sushi in Milpitas. I’m not saying it’s necessarily better, but it was THE first PROS: –I’ve been to this place ever since I was 12(and trust me, it’s been a few years since then because… I’m just not 12 anymore) and I have fallen in love with their Nigiri Sushi boat with California rolls! –pretty cute décor(under the former owner, Linda, they had paper cranes hanging from the ceiling) –much more space than the other Fuji San Sushi including private Japanese-style rooms –much bigger bar area CONS: –I just went here tonight, a FRIDAYNIGHT, and it was DEAD. wtf?! it was so isolated that there was only ONE chef and ONE hostess/waitress –prices went up –on this particular night, i felt like this waitress was SUCH a nuisance! It seemed she was either hovering close to our table, always serving something(btw, I hated her serving technique. They need to get smaller plates or bigger tables, because not only was I pissed that she was serving, but the fact that the plate was so big that I’d have to stop my discussion and HELP her move the water or tea in the way. Multiple times), or just plain bored because we were the only people there! She tried to be nice, but the nice factor did not outweigh the nuisance factor.

This isn’t one of the better sushi restaurants around. Drive 7 miles and you’ll have Yuki on Driscoll Rd, Fremont. However, if you are pressed for time and you want a quick *COOKED* Japanese food, or if you have nowhere else to go, this place isn’t as bad as other reviewers portray it to be. I agree — never get anything from the sushi boat… you never know how long those things have been sitting there… the sushi boat is never popular and seems like every patron choose the tables and get made-to-order sushi. Hence the slow turnover of the dishes on the sushi boat, which is reflected on the sad-looking pieces of nigiri sushi and maki rolls. My favorite menu item here is super spicy roll… it’s basically spicy tuna topped with avocado and hot sauce(not unlike that found in phở restaurants). Other than that, their other dishes are mediocre. I can’t remember anything about the service, either, so it’s neither bad nor good. The waiters seem to always rush us, which is not that big an issue if you’re there on a weekday for lunch.

Terrible!!! My bad though for coming to Milpitas, the craphole of the bay and expecting to get good sushi. I am not sure that the sushi floating around and around and around ever gets eaten or changed. Not even sure if it is real since it is the same stuff and looks plastic. I ordered the salmon sashimi which was a RIPOFF! 6 pieces for about $ 20 bucks!!! The service was terrible. The server barely spoke English and would run off to the computer to punch it in right after I ordered 1 item, not thinking that maybe I wasn’t finished ordering. Then the rest of the time she chatted it up with her coworkers and didn’t check on us until I tackled a server near by to get her attention for me. Never again!!! I should have known when I walked in though since there were like 3 people in there during dinner time.

Fujian Sushi in Milpitas Square is one of the original tenants from the plaza’s grand opening in 1996, yet still miraculously survives and thrives to this day. I just read another Unilocaler mention a management or ownership change. I recall coming here a few times after they opened, when the owner is/was a Taiwanese mom, and the sushi chefs were from Taiwan as well. However the sushi tastes absolutely nothing like a real good to standard place in Taiwan where quality as well as passion really matters in a competitive and innovative environment. It’s no surprise that the staple of this restaurant is the kaitenzushi, or as Sushi Monster of Chowhound lore has said before, Sushi Boat Moat. Nigiri and rolls(JAR) here are overpriced, poor value, and well, you can literally use Nobu K’s term to describe them, yes even Jive Ass Nigiri and Jive Ass Rolls. I might give them a 2nd star if they jazz up the boat moat and give it a Disney Pirates of the Carribean ride theme, maybe put cannons on the boats, and real 6 inch pirates fighting each other between a spicy toona roll and a piece of crud, while Captain Jack is swimming around the moat hoping to find a semi tasy piece of Jive Ass Nigiri somewhere. But alas they might get sued for copyrighting. DOH. Never ate cooked food here but if they can’t nail down the sushi and rolls, I have no faith in the kitchen’s output either. Yet despite the very consistent crud this place churns out, there has been enough interest and revenue for the owners and management to open a SECOND location right by Milpitas Great Mall and the multi plex movie theater. I’m curious if they will open a 3rd location, but let’s hope not. For about the same amount of money, drive further into Calaveras towards the Town Center, and get some authentic style nigiri at Sushi Maru also a kaitenzushi, but at least Japanese run, more variety, and definitely better value. So yeah, Sushi Maru is like Ad Hoc, and on the other end, Fujisan Sushi is Bad Foc.

OKOK. I LOVE sushi and miso soup. Plus its easy cause I like California Rolls and Unagi, you can’t really get too picky with it. Anyway, one of my best friends and I like meet here to have catch up dinners. So sometimes we sit around for more than an hour just chattin it up. Once or twice a worker would slowly creep by and stare at us — as if he wanted us to leave? I’m not sure but it was a litlte weird. It was almost like he wanted the table. But we were the only ones eating there besides another group and there was bunch of other tables available. No one wants to see someone walking slowly back and forth behind them while they’re sippin on miso soup!

This place is alright… surprisingly, this location on Barber is better than the one at the Great Mall. I bumped them up to 3 stars for having very nice service… the lady brought my baby a bowl of just the tofu from the miso soup without my having to ask.

I guess everyone feels the same about Fujisan. I used to come here when lunch was busy and food was great. I would order the bento box that came with chicken teryaki and a huge tempura shrimp that was alive and kicking before it was cooked. After trying other places and coming back here, I think twice before making this my final decision. It’s sad when the quality of food dwindles over the years.

Warning: do not go here… ever. Upon entering the place was dead empty. On a Saturday evening when every other surrounding restaurant was crowded, I figured something was up. Not quite sure why we stayed, but we did. After about an hour by the end of our meal it remained empty, except for my party’s presence. The sushi was stale. I didn’t have a single decent roll there. Though we were the only ones there, no one ever came by to refill our water. The sushi on the boats must have been even more old, since during the whole duration of the stay we witnessed the same items in constant rotation on the boats. Who knows how long those items stayed on the boats.
