Had the spicy tuna and a chicken teriyaki bento box, It’s very busy for dinner and tables are very small and close together so no romantic talk during din-din! I don’t like that they only have one restroom but it’s pretty clean and I was satisfied. Staff was friendly and prices are reasonable. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Best sushi in Milpitas! Expect a wait during peak dinner hours! The thing that sets Sen Dai apart from other sushi restaurants in Milpitas is the freshness and quality of their fish. My absolute favorite is the Honda roll which has fresh scallop on it. The scallop is so fresh and buttery that I actually *don’t* using soy sauce on it! I also really love the Rockstar roll which has a slice of lemon to give it that extra punch of flavor! Aside from rolls, I also love the sashimi combos that come in all different sizes — perfect for sharing(or eating yourself, no judgement here) If you don’t want to wait for a table, I highly recommend calling ahead and ordering for pick up. It’ll be ready in 10 — 20 minutes and the menu is online :)

I’m a regular here. Or vvvvvip lol I love their sashimi and nigiri Before Sen Dai I never liked sashimi. My mama is the pickiest and if she approve here, they must be real good! Last week I was here three times and I think they all remember me haha

Uh I can’t believe I have never reviewed this place… This has definitely been my favorite sushi place in the area for years! Their fish is so fresh. Their rolls are perfectly made and so tasty. Even though this review won’t add much to the Unilocal I just felt so incompletely not letting my friends know how important this place is to me. Unfortunately this place is always crowded especially during dinner and weekends :( My parents love it just as much as I do. I recommend all of their rolls here and please get some sashimi. Their poke isn’t legit poke but still tasty too!

Portions here are good. Great if you want to share a bunch of rolls. Didn’t fall in love with anything here. Service was good. The server placed the wrong order. Instead of chicken katsu curry, they gave us a pork katsu curry. They told us they made a mistake and gave us a bowl of ice cream on the house. I’d come back.

I had really high expectations going in, since the reviews were so great. But in my personal experience, this was just an average sushi place. I ordered the orgasmic roll(7 pieces), but when it was brought to the table, it seemed like such a small portion so I ordered a booth all extra large maki roll(4 big pieces). Other than the size of the maki rolls, there really was nothing unique about them(in my friend’s and my opinion). I ended up finishing both, but I was STUFFED. the total came out to be around $ 30 for those two, including tax and tips. The food was not bad, especially the first few pieces when I was really hungry. But the portion and taste for the price is definitely small compared to some of the places I’ve been to(Yanagi, amakara, wasabi bistro, etc). So I don’t think I’ll be coming back in a short while.

Great small sushi gig in the heart of Milpitas located in a small unsuspecting plaza. Usually a long line(30min-1hr wait) after 5:30PM. No reservations. Entire party must be present to be seated. Really fresh assortment of sashimi/fish and some pretty creative and diverse assortment rolls. There is also a daily revolving special for fresh fishes of the day. Off the menu is the egg bowl with a cracked quail egg and a couple pieces of uni over rice. Really a delight to eat. I also like the Las Vegas roll which is pretty much a kitchen sink of sashimi with some krab, massago, etc… all wrapped up into one giant roll, topped off with their awesome wasabi sauce. I took off a star, because every time I eat here, I feel quite a bit rushed to finish my food. Once your table is starting to look on the tail end of the meal, the servers will start to hover and hastily ask if there is anything else they can get you. There have been a couple times where they started taking a dish away with still some food on it… minus points in my book. Nonetheless great food, great quality, price is decent(not the cheapest), and service is okay.

This is where my bf and I had our second date… or was it the third. Wow time flies but I remember how it was this tiny spot so reservations or getting there REALLY early kind of needed to happen as it got full quick. Not sure why this place in particular is THE place for Japanese but it somehow is. It’s located in a small little plaza with Donut Basket. Parking isn’t very large. I did mention that this place used to be small and now has expanded but still gets really packed. We called in for our order today and was estimated 25 minutes and it just opened. That’s right. It’s THAT busy. My bf went to pick it up and well I was wondering where he was. Apparently it took much longer than the estimated time. I don’t know what the cost was but I’m sure it was an arm and a leg. The three rolls we got were In the Sea, Fuji, and Storm Bringer. All three rolls were fairly large and looked fresh. The In the Sea roll was pretty much a spicy tuna roll covered with fresh slices of salmon and tuna, but alas, you couldn’t enjoy it cause it was like a fire in my mouth. It wasn’t enjoyable and I like spicy food, but not to the point where I can’t taste anything else but the spiciness. So note to self, never get any spicy tuna rolls here. The Storm Bringer had well fried soft shell crab, but nothing too amazing about that roll. The Fuji was baked, but again, it was just ok. I was super full, but not satisfied which is quite disappointing. Roll portions are large, but I’m sure they were costly. The wait time was not great and food was just ok. I guess considering it’s the closest Japanese spot, I’ll likely be back, but not often.

Back in high school we would drive from Fremont to Milpitas just for their $ 1 California roll. They’ve expanded since then and the days of $ 1 California rolls are long gone, but I love what they’ve evolved into. I’ve never been here without a wait, so that speaks volumes to the quality of their food. I’ve tried a handful of their sushi rolls and have never been disappointed. As far as appetizers go, their garlic edamame are simply to die for. I have come back just for those. The baked scallop appetizer is also crazy delicious.

Stumbled upon this place randomly, but very glad I did! I came on a Sunday night with my family and were told that our wait time would be 20 minutes. The wait went by quickly, the waiting area is a little cramped though so prepare to possibly stand outsdie in the cold. We ordered the ultimate combo, tempura udon, Hawaiian poke salad and the storm bringer roll. All our food came out very quickly! We were constantly getting asked if we needed refills on our tea and water. The service was really exceptional! The food was also great as well. The raw fish tasted really fresh and the ultimate combo is a great deal! The Hawaiian poke salad I would definitely recommend as well! Great service and great food=great experience!

(4.5 stars) Binky loves Star Wars a LOT, LOT, LOT — so much so that he bought tickets for the Star Wars movie MONTHS ago for the 9:00AMSHOWING in SANJOSE(*note* we are from the East Bay area). Unfortunately, that meant I, Porky, had to wake up at the very early hour of 6:30AM so we could make the trek out to San Jose from our hometown with PLENTY of time to spare(we arrived an hour early…). NOW, yo girl has never seen any of the Star Wars movies(I know, I know) and was about ~0% excited at the prospect of watching a LONG movie SO early in the morn. Therefore, yo girl, being the porky that she is, planned a lunch at SENDAISUSHI to reward herself for good companionship behavior. WELLWHATDOYOUKNOW? The movie ended up being GREAT and SO was the food. It was a DOUBLEWIN kind of day(although I did crash from exhaustion sometime in the afternoon…). Binky and I, in high spirits after watching the Star Wars movie, came to Sen Dai excited and happy at the prospect of some yums-in-the-tums sushi. Binky and I ordered the rainbow roll, the spicy tuna roll, and a chirashi bowl to share. The rainbow roll was gorgeous — with different kinds of fish lining the top of the roll — creating a «rainbow» effect. The inside contained(imitation?) crab meat. I really enjoyed this very simple little roll(Binky and I can not stand messy rolls with too much sauce, cream cheese, fried everything, etc, etc) — very impressed by how large the pieces were as well. The spicy tuna was yet another very simple, very delicious roll — the inside was stuffed with spicy tuna(duh) and contained a little avocado inside(not really sure why it was advertised with cucumber??). Lastly, we received the chirashi bowl — and WOW, what a STUNNER… Binky and I like to try each piece of fish together and decide our favorites — I think we definitely decided on a fatty piece of «salmon» looking fish(not quite sure what it was??) — ALL of the fish tasted wonderful — very fresh and thick. Sen Dai is generous with its portion sizes(large pieces of fish over a TON of rice…). On the down side, the parking lot is very, very tiny — Binky dro

This isn’t your fancy Japanese restaurant(prolly cus its not authentic), but its the best bang for your buck especially when you want fast service Ordered the Hwe dub bab 4⁄5 This is like Korean chirashi but better imo. Love the Korean red spicy sweet paste it comes with on the side — Makes anything good. Surprsingly food was big portioned and came with fresh fish pieces — hamachi, tuna, seared tuna topped with a raw quail egg and toppled with Buncha fish eggs. Super yum :) lil pricy for $ 20 Catepillar roll was a solid 4⁄5 too. Loved that it didn’t skimp on avocado! Satisfied with lunch:) go try the Korean chirashi ;)

So this is the popular sushi spot in Milpitas and I had never been so I decided to give it a go. It’s kinda hidden and you won’t really see it if it’s late and dark as they don’t have much in the way of lights on the outside. However, once you know where it’s at, you’ll be able to find it with relative ease. It’s not a huge location and the sushi is a bit cheaper than most other places. However, as I said it’s a really small place so you’ll have tables to either side of you if you’re seated in the middle of the restaurant and you’ll be really close to your neighbors. Like you’ll be able to hear their entire conversations close. The food itself is not bad, but it didn’t boldly take me where no man has been before. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but nothing special. There also seems to be a lot of locals here as the people that worked here seemed to be on a first name basis with a bunch of people. Not a bad place to have a Friday dinner, but nothing Earth shattering either.

This place was recommended to me by my boss as a return favor for recommending him Satomi Sushi(which is another fav of mine btw). He found it and saw the reviews and told me I had to check it out! So I decided to see what it’s all about on a Saturday night for dinner since I was already around the area shopping at Great Mall. We showed up around 8:45 pm(they close at 9 pm on Saturdays) and they seated us immediately since we had a party of 2. What was crazy to me was that there was a family of 4 ahead of us waiting to be seated, that close to closing time! This place was still packed near closing time, and people were still trying to get seated for dinner. I could not believe this, Once we were seated, we were given tea and iced water(tea is free!) and the staff were very friendly and nice. We ordered the edamame to startoff and the Dragon Roll(my way of determining whether a sushi spot is good or not) and also the Fuji roll. The Dragon Roll was delicious and well made where you get a slice of avocado and eel in each piece. The Fuji roll was ok to me, the baked scallops were a little dry for my taste. To finish it off, we ordered the tempura ice cream(green tea ice cream). The tempura part of the ice cream was good until it got soggy. Then we just ate the ice cream and left the rest. Overall, I would give it 4 stars. Next time i’ll try some of their other rolls.

Hervorragendes Essen, authentisch japanisch, gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis!
