My boyfriend and I came here instead of Sen Dai one night and this place is going to be our to-go sushi spot whenever we’re in Milpitas! The one thing that attracted us was how much cheaper the rolls are here. I ordered the Milpitas Roll and Sun Roll. They both had a very good amount of fresh fish in it. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t so packed, which we liked since we had more attention from the servers. Servers were really friendly and approachable.

Not the best sushi joint in the area but very affordable. The quality and quantity is pretty good for this price range. You won’t leave the restaurant hungry. Their chirashi has some generous thick cuts of sake, maguro and butter fish. The sushi rice was decent. Believe it or not, I have actually been served regular rice with my chirashi that was rather unpleasant. Glad that wasn’t the case here. The sushi rice was nicely seasoned with a slightly gooey texture. I finished everything.

Friend took me here. It was good sushi. Pretty fast service. Cheap prices. But the only negative thing I’d say about this is that it was empty. All in all, definitely taking my parents here some time soon :)

There wasn’t any free edamame(as others have stated), but I still like the place! I hope this is my parents’ next go-to sushi place, rather than Sushi Factory(bleah, I HATE that place with a passion). Fast and attentive service, quick to bring out the miso soup and hand rolls, and good & clean décor. The bento box lunch special was pretty inexpensive — about $ 8 something? However, they did mess up on my order and gave me a whole plate of tonkatsu. That’s okay though, I was secretly craving just that and only ordered other stuff in an attempt to be healthy.

After church at NVC, some of my girlfriends decided to get some sushi here at Milpitas… We walk in and the resturant is on the small side. It was pretty empty because we went for early lunch… We all ordered a roll but it took a while even though we were like the only group there… I ordered a «Jin» roll and it wasn’t that amazing. The fish was not that fresh and there was too much rice… I also ordered the spicy tuna hand roll… That hand roll was so good. It was amazing. Lots of tuna and lots of flavor and not so much of the rice… just the way I like it. For my «Jin» roll and my hand roll I paid $ 15.00(tip and tax is added)

After a few hours at Dave and Busters, my boyfriend and I decided to grab some dinner before parting ways. We Unilocaled for a while and finally decided to try Sushi One. It was already 9 at the time, half an hour before closing, but the employees were still very pleasant to us. It took us a while to order since it was our first time but we finally decided on three rolls: milpitas roll, Hama Saba, and the… something else that I don’t remember. All of them were so good! You know how it sucks when the ratio of rice and fish is like… just all rice? Well Sushi One does it perfectly! Thickness of rice was perfect and the portion of fish for each piece was generous. Yum yum! The only complaint that my boyfriend had was that they could improve presentation wise. Their plates are just plain white and I guess they could decorate each order a bit more? But honestly I don’t really care because food is food and when it’s this good, presentation doesn’t have to be 100% beautiful. We shall be back!

With my diet restriction, we came here only for cooked food, which is a bit off the purpose of trying a sushi place. I liked the fact that their menu is quite extensive on both cooked and raw food compared to a lot of Japanese restaurants. We ordered 2 appertizers: salmon kama($ 3.95) and beef wrapped asparagus roll($ 6.95). Hot items, we ordered beef sukiyaki($ 8.95) and Lion King Roll($ 8.95). The appertizers were good! The salmon kama was nicely grilled with good flavor and big portion for the price. The beef wrapped asparagus roll was also good, soft beef and fresh asparagus. The beef sukiyaki also had good value but the sauce is a bit too sweet, the worst was the Lion King Roll as the sauce on top tasted weird and not as creamy as other sushi places. They offered a bowl of free edamame while we waited for our food and the service is OK. We didn’t order tempura but we saw a few pieces of huge shrimp tempura on the other table that looked pretty good.

I wonder what waiters think when people come into their place last minute? Well, when i came here 30minutes before closing, they were suuper nice and prompt!!! got our water and hot tea right away! now for the food: –bento box, about $ 12: teriyaki beef, sashimi, which comes with rice, salad, and tempura mix. for this price, we got ALOT! the tempura was not even in the bento box, because they gave such a generous portion, it was in its own dish, which included TWO tempura shrimp… most bento boxes only come with one, so if you share it you’re guna have to split, BUT no splitting here! –forgive me for forgetting the name of this roll, but it was basically a deep fried tempura spicy tuna roll! YUM, that is all i can say! crispy on the outside with the spicy mayo and tender on the inside with the spicy tuna slightly cooked!!! about $ 7 and a large enough roll to share for two! So far this is all i have tried! i wouldn’t mind coming back to try more!!! so overall, i know the location of this place makes it seem out of place, but try it, you’d be surprised. only con is that they have left over décor from the previous place it used to be… crab something, i think!

I like Sushi One. They are new to the area. Pros: Came with girlfriends for lunch and my sister brought her one year old baby. My niece made kind of a mess and my sister tried to clean it up but the staff was so friendly and accommodating they said it was okay and they would take care of it.(They even didn’t say anything when baby was stomping the rice into the hardwood floor… sorry about that Sushi One!) Besides this the portions are plentiful and the price is right! The lunch bento box is a steal! You can get three items for $ 9(plus it includes miso soup, salad, and edamame)! I came here with my husband another night because I wanted him to try it out(we enjoy Japanese food a lot as you can see from my past reviews). We sampled the rolls and soft shell crab appetizer. Again the staff was attentive and friendly. I was not disappointed in the portions again and the sashimi quality was decent. The atmosphere was spacious, clean, and not too loud(music at the perfect noise level). There were plenty of people eating here on both the Saturday lunchtime and Wednesday dinnertime but not overly crowded. There is no waiting for a table. Cons: I can’t give this place five stars just because it didn’t completely WOW me but for no particular reason. I’m saving my five stars for something truly spectacular. If you are looking for a decent place just to eat Japanese food, I would recommend Sushi One.

The only good thing about this place is that it is cheap and good bento box portions. Other than that, I would not waste my time or appetite. I went there with a group of friends and the menu seemed pretty reasonable, especially the prices. I learned quickly that I should have ordered a normal bento box than trying to be different and ordering the ramen. Big mistake. I’m not sure why, but the bento boxes came out a lot quicker than the ramen. Who would have thought noodles would an extra 10 – 15 minutes to come out. While my friends were gnawing away at their food, I was stuck there waiting for mine. Why didn’t the food come out all together? I have no idea, but bad customer service if you ask me. The bento boxes were pretty big and cheap. I think it was like 7 to 9 dollars for certain combinations. The ramen on the other hand was sucked, big time! It was supposed to be miso flavored, but for some reason, it tasted strange. I had never tasted ramen like that before. It was salty and tasted strangely burnt. I’m not sure what it was, but it wasn’t miso. I can say that the noodles were nicely cooked, but how can you eat noodles in a yucky broth? Not good. I’m not coming back here again. I don’t think the service was very kind and the food quality and taste is poor.

************************** 514 **************************** I used to come to this very spot when it was a Chinese restaurant that served crawfish. I didn’t even know Sushi One took over this place 6 months ago. My belly made loud noises, and I didn’t feel like eating. It’s been like this for a few months now, I lost my appetite, odd right? Well I came in with mom to shut my belly loud mouth. Sat at the bar and got to chat with the sushi chef, a nice man. Service was friendly and attentive. Big menu, lots of rolls, Bento box, everything is so much LESS than any other sushi places around the area. I wasn’t sure about the quality of it, but we tried it anyway. — Miso and soup — OK — Sun Roll — with spicy maguro, hottategai, sake — good. — Dragon Roll — good. — Sashimi — sake, hamachi, maguro, hirame, all decent. I ate this! — Salmon skin hand roll — generous and decent too. My belly was finally quiet. Mom was happy with her meal, but she couldn’t believe how cheap it was! Mom wants to take my dad back here soon!

I’m sorry to say that I wasn’t too impressed with the sushi I had here. Usually I’m a fairly generous rater, especially with sushi, especially with places close to the pad. but for some reason the food didn’t wow me. I went to the place for take out at 9pm, the place is open until 10pm on a weekday, which was the saving grace for the third star. I ordered edamame, super spider roll, salmon and sake roll, and a philadelphia roll. The edamame was a little cold and mushy, not the worst that I’ve had, but not the best. The super spider wasn’t that super, not heaping chunks of soft shell crab. The salmon and sake roll was just too much salmon, my wife likes salmon but this was salmon in the middle surrounded by rice then salmon and lemon on top. Maybe the salmon wasn’t super fresh? Philadelphia roll was standard, nothing to complain about that. Overall, the portions were pretty large, but the rolls weren’t really that memorable. I may be back just because of the convenient hours, but this isn’t my favorite place.

I saw the Grand Opening sign and decided to try it for lunch. They’ve been open for 2 months now, it’s to the left of the Save Mart grocery store in Milpitas. They have a Chinese sushi chef — I heard one waitress talk to the chef in Mandarin & they have a Chinese magazine by the front door. Clean looking dining room — lots of tables/chairs. We were the only customers for almost 1hr. FREE edamame– soy beans. They were ok. FREE hot tea & ice water if you ask for it. My lunch was: Saba Shioyaki that came with miso soup & salad. Soup average; salad ok; saba shioyaki(grilled mackerel) was ok. Came with white rice — nothing special. I got 3 different nigiri too. Unagi(eel) — eel was fine, rice was boring. White tuna — ok. Yellowtail — ok. M. got a sushi lunch — 6 pc Calif. roll w/Chef’s Choice on Nigiri. He liked it ok, thought the rice wasn’t very good. Lunch was about $ 40, credit cards taken. M. paid Cash. Separate bathrooms. Open Daily: 11am-10pm

My husband and I went back for lunch on 12⁄5 and tried the bento boxes. The price is very reasonable for the quantity of food. My husband ordered the Saba Shioyaki, Tempura, and Sashimi bento. I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, Tempura, and Sashimi bento. Each bento came with rice, side salad, kimchi, and miso soup. [See pictures] As usual, the tempura is the best! I’m still amazed at how fresh the tempura is. The Saba Shioyaki is really good. The mackerel had a lot of flavor. The salmon teriyaki was okay. There was a bit too much teriyaki sauce covering the fish. The sashimi was really fresh. We had two thick slices of tuna and salmon. Yum! My tummy was very happy after eating all the food. We’ll be back again!

Came here with my buddy Strap the other night for dinner. It was a cozy place with great service. I was surprised at the large selection of sushi. They have WONDERFUL prices for their sushi. I started off with a glass of chardonnay that was only $ 4.95(that’s usually a happy hour price not an anytime price). I ordered the chicken teriyaki roll for $ 2.95 and the Sushi One roll for $ 6.95. These are the cheapest prices I have yet to encounter in all my sushi adventures. My friend ordered the Chicken Teriyaki entrée that came with soup and salad. This was a HUGE portion. We were amazed and he ended up taking more than half of it home. He also ordered regular california rolls which he was very happy with. For 3 different rolls, a dinner entrée, a soda, and a glass of chardonnay, our bill was only $ 30. Our food came out fast, we had great service, great food with great prices in a clean, cozy restaurant. This place is my new little gem! I can’t wait to come back here.

We got amazing service. The prices were very fair. The selection was great. Though, maybe it was just me, but the food seemed a little bland. But really, it may have just been me. It was all good except the food didn’t turn my tummy on. My friend didn’t eat much of her veggie combo plate but she said she liked it. I had a yellowtail tuna roll and a salmon skin roll. We also shared the fried tofu — which they gave us extra of! And they gave us a very nicely cut up orange for dessert. It was lovely.

A decent sushi fix for sushi lovers. Located near Savemart, it pretty much took over the old Crawdad place. We were quite interested to see a new Sushi place open up in Milpitas — and since Sendai is always packed, we decided to come try this baby out. The restaurant is nicely decorated and pretty clean — so yay for ambiance! The waiters and waitresses are however not so yay worthy. Our waitress, was rather«meek» and a little less welcoming then desired. The poor girl seemed like she was pretty uncomfortable running around and speaking to the dine in’s. Call me high maintenance, but I enjoy pleasant, smiling people. Minus one star for the service — it took them pretty much forever to even take out our water as well. So on to the rolls! You also get complimentary edamame. :) Super California Roll: Deep friend california roll topped with unagi. Overall, it was only decent — didn’t really stand out. Hand Spider Roll: Egh. Nothing spectacular either. The fried crab was a little cold, and the roll was pretty bland tasting as well. Lion King Roll — Didn’t try it myself, but my boyfriend commented on it’s lack of sauciness or taste. So I can assume it was fairly bland as well. To note, it’s also topped with cheese! XD Soooo minus one off for the disappointing food. The redeeming quality of this place? The prices! It’s pretty cheap. Probably a tiny bit cheaper in comparison to Sendai. So if Sendai’s packed and you are low on cash, this place might be a good second choice. :)

So this is a new sushi place over in Milpitas at that plaza where Save Mart is. My good friend recommended this place, and I definitely had a sushi craving. So why not give this place a shot? From the outside, the place looks really small but when you enter, it’s a pretty big place(seats maybe 50ish people total?). It looks like the theme of the restaurant is that you’re in a boat which was pretty cool. As for the actual food: The rolls were a good portion size. What I really liked was the fact that the menu tells you how many pieces you get per roll and the most expensive roll is $ 11.99. The rest of the rolls are no less than $ 8.99 if I remember correctly. The fish was fresh enough and the rice was solid. I really liked the big sashimi portions. The reason I rounded this down to a 3 and not up to a 4 is because the service was so-so. Our waiter was really accomodating to our TV request, but they took forever to give us our check. I’d understand if business was slow. But there are 3 waiters and 3 groups eating. It shouldn’t take that long!!! Would I come back to this place? Heck yes! This place has a lot of potential and I’m sure they’ll do fine.

+1 for cheap eats +1 for friendly service +1 a nice spin on some rolls –1 for not so fresh fish –1 for not a potential go-to sushi place for me So I wanted to give this place a try because I am a sushi whore. Located in the corner of a shopping center, it’s a little hard to find, but they do have a grand opening banner in the front. When we entered, I felt like I was on a ship. The décor along with the wood walls, floor and furniture made it look … ship-y. The service was awkwardly nice. I don’t mean this in a rude way, but our server was definitely new, so she couldn’t answer some of our questions about the menu. However, she was soooo sweet and we could tell she was trying her best. They gave us some edamame on the house as we browsed through the menu. Tempura Combo: Tempura shrimp and veggies on a wooden tempura hammock. I like it — nicely breaded and light. The sauce was good, however, my date said it was a little bland. Sake & Salmon roll: Salmon and cucumber roll with salmon on top as well. According to the pictures, the fish looked amazing, but the pictures said all the wrong words. The fish I got had a fishy, mushy, stringy taste and texture to it. We concluded that the fish is not real here. It’s not salmon, it’s Soymon. I could devour a roll easily but this one had to stay behind. Sushi one roll: Very interesting roll as it had unagi, avocado, cucumber, and bacon! This roll was a lot better and had a very unique flavor to it. However the last piece had a MONSTROUS eel tail sticking out of it. I’m not kidding. MONSTROUS. It was too big to enjoy, so I buried it in rice and left it behind with the Soymon. After dinner, they gave us complimentary oranges that were presented in a cute way. I’d probably come back here to get the cooked goods since the prices are good and the service is nice. TIP: They’re open all day 11am –10pm? Cool for a sushi place.

Overall, this place is 4.75 stars. We came here on a Friday night(10÷15÷10) around 7:30 pm. While there was a HUGE line at at the tofu house next door, we walked int Sushi One and sat down right away. There were only 2 other patrons(2 top and 4 top table) before we got there. The place was pretty slow as it’s only been open for one week as of 10⁄15. We were greeted with very friendly staff and they brought us menus and drinks promptly. My side of the table had a little grease left behind and I told the waiter. He immediately wiped it down for me. :) We ordered 2 – 2 item entrée combos. Starters: edamame, soup and salad. The first entrée was beef teriyaki with rice and assorted tempura. The assorted tempura was fried nicely and included 3 large pieces of shrimp! the second entrée came with starters as well. I had the spicy poki roll and the rainbow roll. We also ordered a 2 piece salmon nigiri. It was really good. The salmon was thick cut and very fresh. The waiters kept checking on us often.
