Excellent Vietnamese dishes here. The Banh Canh was flavorful and the noodles weren’t overcooked. It’s slightly more expensive than your average Phở place, but the quality is better.

3.5 Stars I was craving some phở after an early dinner and my friend said this restaurant is open pretty late Friday nights. We got here at around 11 and it’s conveniently located off Highway 880 next to Ranch 99. We were seated immediately and when I asked the server for some recommendations, their Crab Udon Noodle seemed to be their most popular dish while my friend ended up getting the #4 Phở. As the restaurant had a couple of other customers, I was surprised that our food took almost 20 minutes to come out. However, their service was exceptionally well for an Asian restaurant. My Crab Udon was pretty good but the broth was a little lighter than I’d like it. Nevertheless, the crab meat was fresh and delicious. I tried my friend’s #4 Phở and it was alright. Their portions were a little smaller than other phở restaurants and their broth could use some improvement. Overall, their Crab Udon was impressive and their service was excellent but their phở could use a little work. P. S. They take card :)

I love the service! The guy at the cashier remembers me and knows my usual order! Love their vietnamese coffee. And their #35. It’s actually cool that they have an ATM machine inside the store if you need cash. This is my go-to lunch meal at work. Longest i had to wait was 5mins :) will definitely come back for more!

Negative stars if I could. Don’t do it unless you want bugs in your face, food, drinks ears. Nasty. And they didn’t do anything about it. This isn’t Vietnam. They ignored it as if it would go away. Guess what? Your customers are going away. Would never go back. Couldn’t even eat my food. Left it and went else where.

They’ve got good food but the service is slow and I’ll never forget that I had to pay extra to have crab in the crab udon! It’s called crab udon, why would you charge someone extra for an ingredient is the namesake of the dish? The price is also more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants around MIlpitas.

AVOIDATALLCOSTS There are flies/gnats everywhere flying in your face and flying into your food. The workers seem to not give a crap at all and seem unbothered by the whole experience. However I think its kind of funny seeing everyone swat the air every 5 seconds. But do not eat here. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

Knocked down a star because of the service… First time going here because my go to place at Phở Nguyen was closed. It looks like the crab udon dish was their customer favorite but I wasn’t feeling it so I tried the beef stew with rice noodles which is what I usually like to get and my guest got grilled chicken and egg roll vermicelli. The food itself was ok. Nothing amazing and nothing terrible. I thought the beef stew could have had more flavor. The rice noodles tasted very ricey and chalky almost like they could have rinsed it out beforehand or something but it didn’t compliment the broth at all. The vermicelli tasted better for sure. Thought they gave you a huge portion! Definitely couldn’t finish. What I was really irritated about was the service. The staff were very nice but they were not very good at being alert. No one refilled our waters and even when we asked three times no one filled it up… there were maybe two other small tables eating at the time so they were not busy. And three waiters… we also sat there forever and they never gave us the check and when we finally got it, we had to ask them to take the check after placing the credit card on the tray for 10 minutes… cmon guys! Wouldn’t really come back here unless I was in the area *really* craving phở.

I like Truong Thanh. Solid restaurant. Strangely comfortable and peaceful atmosphere, which I liked. Nice décor. The food was good, they would’ve gotten a 5 if the phở was larger. If you don’t have a huge phở for the large as a Vietnamese restaurant, you have some work to do. It has to be massive. People want to be filled up when they get the large. There phở was ok size, needed to be bigger. But the flavor was very good, broth was great, and there were no odd flavors. Will be back.

We were first timers here, we came here to try the crab udon because a friend recommended this place. So we have nothing to compare it to, with that said, the crab udon was pretty good. The crab is real, broth was flavorful, and udon al dente yet soft. We also ordered the bahn xeo: pretty good, nothing special yet not bad. The servers were friendly. Although the food took a little while to come out, but I think because it was made to order and not pre cooked. We will be back!

This place have one of the best beef stew and Korean bbq. They are located in the same complex as 85 degrees so the parking can be a pain to find during busy hours. My favorite is the egg noodles beef stew. The carrots, tendons, and beef gives a great natural Vietnamese beef stew flavor. The soup was not too oily so it was cooked just right. They have awesome customer service when you’re at the restaurant or even picking up food for take out. Their service is fast and quick. They also accept credit cards too!

Come here almost every month for the same dish: #1 on the menu: Crab noodle The soup is super yummy and that’s the taste I can’t get from anywhere else. It’s a mix flavour of crab, shirmp and seaweed. I usually cannot finish a full bowl of noodles. This’s an exception that I won’t miss any food in the bowl. This noodle is best to be served with hot tea. The hot tea will help digesting and I always feel refreshed after drinking it Oh! Customer experience is very nice as well. I once left my jacket during lunch hour, they kept it for me for couple days before I went back pickup :)

Omg. This is by far my most favorite restaurant when it comes to banh canh cua(crab udon noodle). Everything about this dish is amazing. The udon is cooked to perfection and the crab meat tasted really fresh. I like how they added thinly sliced meat and some sort of ground meat formed into little pieces of sausages. The soup was really good and tasty. It’s more on the watery side rather than thick, which I prefer. In comparison, I would choose this restaurant over my canh located in San Francisco. My canh specializes in banh canh cua but I think it’s okay. I don’t like how they leave the crab shell and legs in the soup. Also, it takes up time separating the crab meat from its shell. And the udon tasted different. –msashleyytee

The five stars is all about the food and the convenience of the fact that the restau is open until 2 am(maybe even 3 am now)! Ok, we all know that Asian customer service is generally(and I use this word very carefully) not up to standards, so do not expect to get the typical five star service you get any where else! Now on to the food, their Phở is really good. Compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants, the food is quite the same, but overall Vietnamese food is good! I tend to get the vermicelli noodle with some kind of grilled pork or grilled pork, but when it is cold, I go to the typical Phở noodle soup! Quite far from Santa Clara is the only drawback, but the upside is that 85 Degrees is right around the corner… literally!

Order the Chicken Roti with Rice. The Chicken was dry. I think it was pre-cooked and they just fried it again when I ordered it. The skin was super dark/burnt too. The rice was hard. Outside was dried and inside was very hot. I believe it was microwaved so the heat was uneven. Disappointed.

Last night made a late night visit. I hadn’t eaten all day and I was starved. I always completely enjoyed myself here. We had: Egg Rolls(5⁄5) Distinctively good, great wrapper, the kind w/texture and a ground beef and vegetable mix. Beef Phở(4⁄5) Solid. It didn’t come steaming hot which was my only complaint. Salmon Plate(5⁄5) LOVED this. Two small, grilled pieces complete with grill marks, served with a teriyaki-like sauce on the side with some greens. Just a quick update to let you know that. You will find consistently solid, good eats here all hours of the day and night. Highly under-rated in my opinion.

I have come back to this place many many many times and feel that I can make a very seasoned review. Only only only order the Banh Can Cua!***That is the best dish that they make and specialize that is worth getting here compared to other vietnamese restaurants! Hence why it’s still 4 stars just because of this item alone. Want phở? Bun bo hue? Phở ga? Please go to phở kim long or an establishment that specialized in what you you’re looking for. –don’t get the phở here. The soup is bland and the portion is smaller than other phở places. –don’t get bun rieu here… they lack tomatoes in it, no egg or crab meat! It was just a red soup with noodles and some pork, tofu and 2 pc of prawns. Not hoe bun rieu is supposed to be! –the rice dishes is a hit or miss… mostly walk away craving to be more satisfied. BUT if you want something refreshing or a good appetizer, I recommend the goi ga(chicken salad). I don’t rave of this as much to the banh can cua but that’s mainly because the chicken portion is sometimes inconsistent(too little at times). But it’s a good dish that I don’t mind reordering.

I have come here a couple times for dinner and lunch. Every time I go the service is pretty good and fast. The only thing that makes it not a five star review is that the taste of the broth of most of the noodle soup dishes don’t have as deep of a flavor as I am used to. They taste good, but when I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, I want deep flavor. I don’t want to have to add a bunch of fish sauce or sriracha to get it just right. I have ordered the Banh Xeo(Vietnamese style crêpe), Banh Canh Cua(Crab noodle soup), and the Bun Bo Hue(Spicy beef noodle soup). I usually try and compare these to other Viet spots and this is one of the better places. My favorite is the Viet crêpe though. It is nice and crispy and taste great with the crisp lettuce leaves. Just talking about it makes me want to come back. Can’t wait til next time.

The interior of this restaurant is modern with a twist native to its cuisine’s roots, lots of wooden touches and paintings. Not your average hole in the wall establishment. My relatives brought me to this place after a long day at the beach, and it closes at 2am on weekends in case anyone’s famished. Pleasant service with smiles all around. I ordered a #21 combination egg noodle($ 9.50) that had too much imitation crab meat in it which affected the taste of the broth; there was a slight difference in the middle of sipping it. I’m surprised there wasn’t a large amount of noodles compared to other places I’ve been to, but my cousin’s bowl had a lot rice noodles in it. The combo has BBQ pork slices, imitation crab meat, 2 shrimps, some sliced squid, mini fish ball, and wontons. I wish there were more than two wontons in my soup. Why I didn’t order egg noodles with wontons(and the BBQ pork I didn’t want at first) I’ll never know. They use a lot of pepper in their meat: halved beef balls and pork wontons in particular, gives a slight kick. The bean sprouts they place at the table look incredibly fresh and washed– lime slices, mint, and cilantro are also included. Their water glasses look new and clean! I really appreciated that. All of the phở places I go to keep the same foggy plastic cups that probably never get replaced. There’s a reason why I get hot tea at those eateries. If I return one of these days, I’ll try their egg noodles with crispy breaded shrimp on top, no broth. One Unilocaler’s photo looked so amazing I almost started drooling.

To be honest, we go to Truong Thanh because it’s the closest Vietnamese place to home. So whenever we have a craving for vietnamese, we come here. Last time we came we had the egg rolls that you wrap in veggies which is lovely. The only thing is that it’s so oily. We also had the crêpe before too and I felt that way then. Just feels like everything that’s fried was swimming in oil and not really patted down to remove it. I would have to say the shaking beef was pretty good with the mixture of sweet and salty. I would definitely recommend the dish. Still the parking situation during peak times can be a bit crazy but just as long as you park in the back and don’t mind a tiny walk, then you’ll be fine.
