Me and my cousin came here after some shopping. Can’t complain, the phở was really good and the large size comes at around 10 $ and its was huge! Wouldn’t mind coming here again.

I probably eat here twice a week. Definitely my local go to place for phở when my kids and I are craving it. Chicken or the beef phở are delicious. Plenty of flavor and they even offer fresh noodles. The rice plates are ok. The meat sometimes is still cold which tells me it’s precooked. Which pretty much is probably why it’s tough. I just stick to the soup here. There seafood soup is amazing also. Only problem is I do get the msg pains afterwards. Other then that this is my go to place when I need to eat close, fast and quick. Super fast service with tvs.

So I came here thinking it was going to be delicious and I ordered the seafood Phở… well it was not what I expected at all since it is in the Bay Area. The noodles were soggy and the seafood was imitation and not very clean. As I sit here on the toilet after eating there I would not recommend this place to any one. I’m sick to my stomach. Can you say bubble guts yuk I threw away most of my food. I also ordered spring tools and it was very fishy tasting that should have been my first indicator. Not impressed and won’t be back.

I know, why would I even go here after the rodent issue. Well my husband believes they have the best rice plates so there we were going in at 9:15ish place our orders. Every time I order I read it from the menu, point to it, ask the waiter/waitress to repeat it back & one final time say my order again. Here they have their food listed numerically but they messed up tonight which didn’t really strike a nerve to me it was their attitude when I kindly tried to explain to them they gave me the wrong order. The lady asked me four times & each time getting a notch louder, my order came out right & that was the night. I could’ve easily gave her attitude back but yeah their customer service sort of sucks.

Great phở. Broth taste amazing. No beer nor wine. Ahhh sigh. Located in a strip mall but the quality of food isn’t strip mallish. I will return when in area

My review might be a bit biased. My family and I used to come here for any possible family occasion possible. After years, I wasn’t feeling it anymore. It’s been a while since I came back but my boyfriend does enjoy this place, so I decided to give it another try. He ordered the number 1(special) while I ordered the Phở Bo Vien. Both of us got fresh noodles(+.50 cents). One thing I liked was the broth was super hot. Another was the meatballs were not too peppery and very smooth. But that’s about it. The meatballs were very salty. The soup was oily. The fresh noodles were soggy. But the service was decent and the place was relatively clean. If I come back, it probably won’t be for the phở.

Ever since going off to college, one of the main things I miss from living in the South Bay is a nice down-to-earth bowl of good phở — specifically, this place’s phở. Haven’t been to this joint in a while because it’s gotten a little bit too much publicity and the lines are way too long nowadays, but thankfully had the chance to come back after a long strenuous hike up Mission Peak on labor day. Updates since 2012… Prices: They’ve gone up quite a bit since last time. ~$ 8.5 for a «small»(aka most places’ large) and ~$ 9 for a large(aka super size). they’ve gone from amazing portion: price ratio to just average portion: price, but still way more than worth. and how can you have so much food for less than $ 10 anywhere else anyways? Food: i’m so glad this has remained consistent! as most places get more popular, quality tends to go down, but happily this has not been the case here! phở broth is as rich and amazing as i remember it, with portions as equally generous as many years ago. because it was over 100 degrees and i’m sweating like crazy after a hike, i opted to get a vermicelli instead of my usual phở — the grilled pork + fried eggroll vermicelli for $ 9.5, and was not disappointed at all! pork was grilled nicely and not dried out, vinegar/vermicelli sauce was the perfect balance of sourness and sweetness, and the fried eggroll was absolutely delicious. portion was also huge and more than adequate to nourish my body after mission peak. their specialty pandan waffle is as light and deliciously crispy as ever too! Service: ahhh authentic hole in the wall asian restaurants — the speedy and not-super-polite-borderline-rushing-waiters make sure food is dished out in a very short amount of time, and it’s part of the experience of good asian comfort food! the huge bowls of phở came waayy before the waffles or vermicelli dishes, and while i was super hungry watching my friends eat phở while waiting for my vermicelli, i’m glad the food gets delivered right as it’s ready(aka piping hot delicious phở broth). phở nguyen, keep up the work and continue serving your delicious and gigantic bowls of phở! i promise i’ll be back when i’m craving phở and conveniently in the area as long as your lines aren’t pouring out the door. much love, a boy who misses this place a ton during cold chicago winters in college

It’s one of the best phở places in Milpitas! Make sure to order your phở with fresh noodle. And don’t forget to order the pandan(young coconut) waffle for around $ 1! For some reason it’s not on the menu. They’re both chewy and crunchy

I’ve heard wonderfuL things about this pLace from my oLd coworkers and my oLder sister swears by this joint! When my famiLy was bickering about where to eat for breakfast, we thought this wouLd be the perfect choice. Our party of 6 ordered: 2 bowLs of phở 2 bowLs of bun bo hue Com Bo Luc Lac My Tho noodLe soup 2 Pandan Green WaffLes Bun Bo Hue was a disaster! The broth simply tasted of chili oil and the cuts of meat was super fatty. Phở was mediocre, better than the Bun Bo Hue but that doesn’t reaLLy say much since that dish was absoLuteLy disgusting. Meat was aLso extremeLy fatty and the broth was not fLavorfuL. I pretty much seasoned it up with hoisin sauce and sriracha. Com Bo Luc Lac(Vietnamese cubed shaken beef) was great. Meat was cooked to perfection and weLL marinated. Great choice for rice and steak lovers. My Tho(seafood noodLes) with soup on the side was a great choice. Seafood was well cooked and no condiments needed to be added. Green waffLes don’t compare to Grand Century– they tasted bLand! I don’t think i’ll be making another visit back here– at Least not by choice. The food was definiteLy a miss in my book.

First timer here! Staff was really friendly and there was no wait time(at 8 pm on a thursday?) so we were seated immediately. Immediately flipped to the com tam(rice plate) section. Though I think they’re known for bun bo hue(spicy noodle soup) I am a die hard com tam fan. I basically judge the place based on how good their rice plates are. I got #51(pork bone in, shredded pork, rice and salad). It was served with a bowl of soup as well which I didn’t drink because I was too full. Pork was cooked nicely with nice char but definitely not hitting reaching my bar on flavor. Not enough of the complex level of smokiness that I get at other places. The shredded pork was just too dry for my liking. The fish sauce was also a little too sweet for my liking. The pickled salad was probably the best part… nice light contrast from the heaviness. I’d probably come back to try the noodles but not the com tam.

Tried the BBH and the vermicelli dish. The bbh was jus ok and the vermicelli dish was on par. Its pretty expensive for a phở place. The dishes ran for $ 9.25 and $ 9.75. The portions seemed a lil bigger but not really enough to justify the price. I also tried the green(pandan) waffles. They were pretty good. Anyways, i heard the egg noodle beef stew was good so I may go back to try as this place probably the closest phở place to me.

Phở Nguyen looks huge from the outside. inside there only around 20 tables of various seatings. menu typical of vietnamese eateries + boba drinks, eats: phở tai gan(lg. 9) –sweet broth, no beefy taste, slight msg aftertaste. –sparse amount of noodles, tendons small pieces. not a good value. take outs: –mostly full, waiting list exists. –many pandan waffles sold here.

May 06, 20153.5 stars Went to lunch with 7 co workers and I ordered a large Phở Nguyen Dac Biet(Nguyen House Special Beef Noodle). Hot tea was served and complimentary pandan waffles. ***Food*** ~Phở Nguyen Dac Biet It was a good sized portion. The soup was not very greasy or salty too salty. I felt my bowl was lacking in terms of meat, a couple pieces of brisket, flank, fat brisket, tripe, tendon and rare eye round, as well as a couple of small pieces of tendon. I would have been much happier if they had chunks of the tendon instead of small pieces. Overall it was a very enjoyable bowl of phở. ~Pandan Waffle(complimentary) The pandan flavor was very light and waffle was crispy and tasted good when it was warm. Would have been very good with coconut ice cream. ~Accompaniments Bean sprouts, Thai basil, culantro leaves, jalapeño, lime slices. The vegetables was nice and fresh, wished they provided more for the number of people we had, but we decided not to ask for more. They did provide more lime wedges when asked. ***Hostess, staff, wait*** There is no one to greet you at the door, but a wait staff greeted you and directed you to your table. The tables was put together for our group and staff was nice enough to exchange a small table with a larger one to give us more room. We didn’t have to wait long because two co workers was there earlier to get the place setting. ***Ambiance*** It was nicely lit, and bright, didn’t look dingy. People wasn’t loud or obnoxious, and we was able to hear everyone perfectly fine. ***Parking*** There’s a parking lot available and we had no problem finding parking. It’s shared with other businesses in the plaza, Jang su Jang, grocery outlet, etc.

Pretty good phở, not the best I’ve ever had, but very good especially considering I had it after a 7 hour drive and with a bunch of good friends. Located in a plaza that has representation of half the countries in Asia. Besides this place, there’s are Korean, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Vietnamese restaurants here.

I’ve been here a lot of times with family and friends, and this place never disappoints each time I’m here! The location is great but parking does get difficult with other shops and restaurants around. It does get super busy during the lunch hour! The restaurant itself does get busy during the lunch as well. So be warned. I usually order the #1 special because it’s just really easy to choose and I don’t really have to think too much. Even for a small, it’s pretty big! At least for me. There is so much meat in there! The broth is good, too. But this time, I decided to get #46, which is BBQ Pork and Shrimp with vermicelli with salad. I was pretty surprised how big it was. The size of the bowl is probably as big as a large bowl of phở! I thought the noodles was a little different than what I’ve had before. It seemed more thin than usual. But the shrimp and pork were well seasoned and were very delicious. Overall, I had a great experience here. I do think that they’ve actually raised their price. I guess I do understand seeing how the economy is right now. But it’s almost $ 8 for a small bowl of phở. It seems a little unreasonable to me. But I will be back.

Solid phở place. Nothing amazing, but it’s quick and it’ll definitely satisfy any cravings. The phở is on the pricier end here — $ 8.25 for a small — but the small bowl is still pretty big. Noodles are soft and there’s an decent portion of meat, but my rare steak cooked too quickly in the broth :(. The broth is light instead of rich and flavorful, but I’ve yet to find a phở place that doesn’t have light broth. They also have green pandan waffles here(off the menu), which are really yummy! Minimum $ 10 charge for credit card.

There’s got to be some reason I can find that every single item I gulped down joyfully at Phở Nguyen to be anything less than 5 stars, right? Right? There’s no way that this«average”-looking phở restaurant in Milpitas should have food this delicious? I had to come back twice just to be sure my taste buds weren’t fooling me. At night, it smells like someone took a major dump in the bathroom. During the day, it smells like phở. Egg rolls — Glorious. For once, you never have to ask for extra fish sauce because every other restaurant in the area gives you droplets. Phở Nguyen give you enough fish sauce to ensure you drown and drink it up with the egg roll. It may be slightly more expensive than other restaurants – but unlike what their menu claims – they give you more. We had 7 deliciously fried rolls to finish. Spring rolls — So sturdy and fresh. These appetizers will fill half of your stomach so order conservatively. You may think you’re as hungry as a dinosaur, but this healthy recipe will easily stomp on your imaginary starvation. Beef stew — The accompanying baguette is inconsistent. Make sure you have it presented warm and toasty. If not, send it back to the kitchen. The stew was delicious with plenty of beef chunks and diced carrots bathing happily in the broth. Unlike other restaurants with proper, smaller portions, this stew comes in a handsomely sized noodle bowl.
