Ahh I’ve always loved this place! It’s gives off such a very«home-y» vibe! Whenever I come here, I always get #9. What that includes is 2 pieces of chicken(leg and thigh) white rice and lumpiang Shanghai. Their gravy is crack. It’s so good, I can drink it if I wanted to, it’s really that good!

This review is solely for the Halo Halo. THEWORST I’ve ever had. Mostly milk. Nothing special included. Ice cream on top was Neapolitan?!? I took two bites and threw it away. Also overpriced at $ 6 for what’s inside, which isn’t much.

This Savory Chicken have a variety of food. Good amount of selection of Filipino, and American plates. Since I’ve never been here before, I ordered a chicken place with eggrolls thinking that it was lumpia. Totally epic fail on this part. Anywho, my fiancé ordered the longanisia plate thinking that there will be chicken with it, NOPE, another epic fail. lol, because usually in Sacramento when we order it comes with the half chicken. Anywho, I guess we assumed it did. Overall, the food was alright, I’ve taste better. Well, the service was good but man, the restaurant was super hot. Yikes, we had to eat pretty quick.

The chicken taste good and crispy but they need to level up the sauce. And the service thumps up!

This is my 1st time eating here and I loved it. This restaurant made me feel welcome since the person helping me was Filipino. I love choppin it up with Filipino people. So to start off, I ordered the BBQ pork skewers and my friend ordered the spaghetti and fried chicken. I loved the chicken and bbq pork and my friend said she enjoyed her spaghetti. I’m not a big fan of spaghetti so I just passed on that. While I was skimming through the menu, I noticed they had Taho. A childhood favorite of ours. It consists of silken tofu, sago, and a sweet syrup. I asked the cashier if they had any more and luckily, I took the last one. It tasted just like the ones I’ve had in the Philippines. It really took me down memory lane. I loved it. I would definitely refer this place to friends and family. Maraming salamat po.

Doordashed the family meal to share with coworkers. Don’t know what the hype is about. The fried chicken was tasty at all. They charged us an extra $ 2 to make the steamed rice fried rice instead but still only gave us steamed rice. Lumpias were just meh and the pan de leche tasted like costco dinner rolls. Nothing savory about their chicken. I’d rather go Jollibee.

The half fried chicken has always been my favorite. I usually just order it with white rice unless I’m craving a lumpia or something. The combo is around $ 8.00 which isn’t too bad I guess. I’m really not fond of their gravy that comes with the chicken. I’m not quite sure but it has a tiny bit sweet aftertaste. I skip the gravy most of the times because I like to fully dip my chicken in chili sauce. Now, that… I LOVE!!! The service is a bit slow. There’s only one person working at the front who practically does everything from taking orders/cashier to helping prepare the food. I came here during lunch hour so everyone was walking in and out trying to order food.

Great tasting fried chicken from the Philippines. One of the oldest fried chicken brand from back home…

Was immediately greeted by a gentleman as I walked into the store. Upon ordering, he asked how I was doing and how was my day. Had a Mini conversation back and fourth. Now, that is great customer service. Very friendly as I felt welcome and comfortable. The food here is top notch with great big portions. Ordered a half tried chicken with steamed rice with two egg rolls. Enough to get me full for a while. Prices are very reasonable with the portions they serve. They also serve spaghetti, which I will try my next visit.

After reading the Unilocal reviews, I took a chance and ordered take-out from Savory Chicken. A man pleasantly answered my call and accurately took my order: Combo 8(½ chicken, 2 egg rolls, steamed white rice), and taho. He told me that my order would be ready in approximately 12 minutes. The restaurant is located in an Asian shopping center. Parking was easy to find even though I arrived during lunchtime on a weekday. I was easily able to find the restaurant as the signage was large and well-marked. From the outside, the retail space looks unkempt, however, the interior is clean and organized. There were two customers dining when I arrived. There are approximately 6 tables with room for about 30 people maximum. There is no table service, and all ordering and payments are done at the counter. I waited a few minutes before an employee came to counter. I told him that I was there to pick up my phone-in order, and he presented me with my food. He was polite, friendly, and made sure to package my food so that it would not spill on my way home. I ate at home, approximately 10 minutes after I picked up the good. The chicken had a cripsy skin, but the meat was dry. The steamed rice was also dry and I did not eat it. The eggrolls were crispy but lacked filling. The taho was mediocre. It was too sweet for me, and tasted a little artificial. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant. The quality of the food was not worth the money. I really wanted to like this restaurant because the staff is pleasant, so I am disappointed.

Next Stop: Seafood City! And surrounding Seafood City is a collection of little food shops and other various stores catering to the sizable Asian community. In all this, Savory Chicken can get lost. But it’s there, in the collection of storefronts on the right. Savory Chicken appears to be a family owned-and-operated restaurant. Very small. The dad(I think) started taking my order, and the daughter(I think) came in and went right to work, finishing my order. You don’t get a number for your order, they call out your order when it’s ready and you go up and get it. «Number 6 with a Pepsi!» That’s me, half a chicken with two pandeleche rolls and macaroni salad. I paid just over $ 11 for it. Juicy, sweet bird, with a skin that’s not exactly savory but is tasty. The salad and rolls with sauce were good too, but the chicken was the highlight. You can dress it up with sririachi sauce, barbecue sauce, or vinegar; I used the vinegar, and it tasted better. Atmosphere is very low-key. Newspapers from Manila for your perusal. They probably wouldn’t mind if you moved the tables around for a bigger group. And the big surprise was what was on the radio. I *groaned* when I heard the call letters for 96.5KOIT! Celine Dion’s husband had recently passed away, so I expected half of the songs to be the Princess of Wails butchering some sappy love songs. Instead, it was feel-good music from not long ago, nothing to make us guys want to run out of the restaurant without finishing our meal. I think the station has finally gotten okay. So, Savory Chicken. Another good-tasting, filling, affordable choice close to 680.

Far from fancy dining(styrofoam utensils), very small and very simple. About half the menu is on the left side of the wall upon entry in photos to better help your adult decision making. Service is fast and friendly. The food is good. You can get half a chicken in your choice of fried or grilled. Get the fried and the skin is cripsy, crunchy goodness! I don’t exactly get how this is «filipino» food other than the sweet spaghetti and the shanghi lumpia. Either way, come for the chicken!

I went here with my parents after my mom heard about this restaurant from her friends. My parents ordered a fried chicken combo each, while I ordered a combo with charbroiled chicken for an extra fifty cents. My combo(#8) came with two egg rolls and rice, along with half of a chicken. It’s a big meal for $ 10. And it was good. I could see myself coming back if I was craving chicken and rice, especially with the sauce that came with it. It was like a teriyaki sauce. The veggie egg rolls were good too, but I could do without. I also ordered taho with sago. It’s my favorite Filipino drink, and it didn’t live up to the ones I had in the Philippines. It was too sweet, and the sago was cooked too long. It’s a mom-and-pop shop that serves decent food, and probably a better option than some of the places nearby.

Its a very small restaurant that is far from fancy and somewhat resembles a diner. Simple furnishings and classic ceiling fans with their cuisine photos on the wall. You would not expect that their food is superb. One of the best fried chicken and BBq skewer you will ever taste is here. The presentation is very simple but if you are after purely for the taste, this is where you go. You would guess that their fried and grilled chicken come from many generations of a family recipe in preparation. i have not tasted more than half of their menu but I can tell their specialty is fried chicken.

I’ve always enjoyed going to Savory, despite the bad reviews I noticed, thankfully I cannot relate to their issues. Whether I’m ordering via phone call or in-person, they always get my order right, the chicken is always on point and my other favorite of theirs, Kikiam. It’s always a reliable place to grab dinner, if you’re feeling lazy being a Master Chef! Despite costing a bit high, if I’m enjoying my food, so be it!

Prompt service at lunchtime when picking up and the gentleman at the counter was very nice and welcoming! I ordered the #9 which was the fried chicken breast/wing/leg(no thigh), steamed rice, and 3 pork rolls(lumpia). There wasn’t much rice, three small rolls, and the chicken was fried without batter until everything was pretty much fried down to just the crispy meat. Although it was tasty, I think adding a bit more rice or a 4th small pork roll or even one bread roll would have helped justify a $ 10.00 plate. I might go back and try some of the other menu items! Until next time…

Ernie helped us choose what to order. He says our chicken is what you should try, however when I asked what HIS favorite dish was, it turned out to be the Ribs! Ordered myself a Chicken and waffles. It came garnished with watermelon which I found hilarious… The chicken was fried to perfection, with a thin crispy layer and a perfect crunch. It also came with gravy that I was pretty much drinking with each bite. The waffle was nothing special but the chicken and gravy will have me back for more. Ernie was also very friendly and very helpful in helping us choose our meals. Damn Im writing this like 5 days later and now I’m drooling thinking about that crunch and that gravy… The only downside is the price. 3 plates and 2 drinks for ~$ 40 O. o

Filipino style fried chicken. How did I know? 1) Milpitas location. 2) Super simple fried chicken(no breading/batter) 3) Lumpia/garlic rice also on menu 4) Sweet Baby Jesus statue up front by the register. This chicken is not bad, but it has so MUCH more potential. First they need to salt/season the chicken a bit more. It is really plain. A simple salt rub will change it exponentially. Sure there is a sweetish gravy served on the side(that I actually do not know why people rave about it), but the chicken should shine on its own. It is in your name, OWNIT! It is nicely fried. It is a smaller bird(almost cornish hen size). It is juicy in the interior. There are numerous combos on what to eat with chicken. Won ton soup/chix combo. Egg roll/chix combo. Knock yourself out. Really good value(combos are $ 7ish) will probably get me to come back. But I have to be in this hood, ain’t trekking for this… unless they start to bring some flava to that chicken. *Daring them to make it crave-worthy*

After eating here probably 20 times in the last few years, we’ve decided never to return. Why? Let me tell you. Our family loves the food here. The customer service is hit or miss — sometimes it’s fantastic, sometimes they act like they could care less that we’re there. The real problem is that they often close way earlier than their posted hours say they will. You see, we don’t live in Milpitas, but ever since Chicken D’Lite in Newark closed, Savory Chicken has been the only savory-style chicken place we love to eat at, so even though we live on the peninsula, we would often drive all the way over to Milpitas to eat at Savory Chicken. But, even though we call in advance and they say they’re open, when we get there, they’re closed! Tonight was the final straw. This is the third time that we’ve made the drive all the way over here and they’ve been *closed* super early, even though their posted hours on their website and their store sign both say they should be open. And we’re not talking closing 15 minutes early, we’re talking HOURS early. We’ve arrived there two hours before closing time and they were closed. We got there today(Friday) about 6:45, and their website and the sign on their wall both say they’ll be open until 8pm. This is the third and final time driving all that way for nothing. We’re not going to waste our time any more. You’ve lost fans and customers. If your posted hours say you’ll be open until 8, then be open until 8.

The fried chicken with gravy here is pretty damn delicious. Pricey, but the gravy alone with it made it worth it. At first I thought it was some type of version of that nasty ass«Mang Thomas» sauce that you lechon eating fucks like to eat, since it kinda looked like it, but it was completely different. It kinda tasted like a sweeter version of some type of curry sauce for some reason. Whatever is in it, I definitely liked it so much that I purchased one to go. Price for a large bowl of it was like $ 7.50(!) and it was only like maybe 8 ounces? Fried chicken itself was good and big for a plate(all chicken orders are basically a half of a chicken), but you definitely needed the sauce to enjoy it. Service was fine, but you won’t get the welcoming feel since this is your typical Filipino/Asian hole-in-the-wall. No napkins are available in the dining area for some reason, so make sure to ask for extra from them. Overall, a good place to check out if you’re in the area
