Just in from California. I am here un Wisconsin on a business trip. Hungry and tired we decided to eat here at the hotel restaurant. Pleasantly surprised. I had the Beef Short Rib and the baked potato. It was such good comfort food. The bartender made me a really good Dirty Shirley too. The service was very good too.

I pass by the sign on Brown Deer every day showcasing their cheap salad and soup bar for $ 6. I finally gave it a shot, always looking for new lunch spots! I went at 1:00, and there was not a single other person in the entire place. I know it is a hotel restaurant, but it was a ghost town — not a good sign. I was seated and greeted promptly, and looked over the menu. For an additional three dollars you can get a sandwich with the bar. I got a buffalo chicken wrap after learning that the one soup offered was clam chowder, not my cup of ‘soup’. The salad bar was underwhelming, browning warm iceberg lettuce, or spinach. Only two dressings were offered, french and ranch. There should have been bread sticks, but they had run out. You could tell it was the tail end of their lunch, but they should keep up with it until the last person leaves satisfied. I only had one trip up there. When my wrap came it was sitting in its own lake of sauce and grease. I literally only took one bite. I got a chicken ‘gooey’ in that bite, and the ‘buffalo’ was simply a Tabasco sauce drenched all over it. The filling was mostly lettuce. The best part of the entire meal was the chips. They tasted homemade, were warm and thick cut, just right. I might come back… but it absolutely isn’t high on my list.

Stopped for lunch, and were pleased to find id exceeded our expectations. There were at least a hundred cars in the parking lot, but we found they belonged to the hotel staff, construction workers working on the roof, and the Rotary club meeting for a luncheon in one of the event rooms. The restaurant was empty. We were seated immediately, watered and provided with menus. The waitress explained that there is a soup and salad bar for six dollars and a sandwich can be ordered for an additional three dollars. Soup today was cream of asparagus, excellent. I ordered a sandwich and found it to be huge, beautiful and delicious. The whole occasion, lunch, tax and tip totaled about $ 25 for two. China settings, hefty flatware, crystal glassware, linen, napkins. Dynamite value.

So I just ordered the room service here. They promise you your food in 30 minutes or less or its complimentary. Let’s just say they were 30 minutes ONTHEBUTTON. Darn, almost a free meal. As a result, the burger and fries were a little lukewarm like they’d been sitting out for 15 minutes after it had been cooked. Not bad, because I don’t ever order room service but I was too busy or starving to get off my butt. It wasn’t bad. Just slightly lukewarm… and not free :/

The 8900 Bar & Bistro is an alright place in my book. Located in the Four Points Sheraton hotel in Brown Deer, it is a great place for guests of the hotel to come relax and unwind for a few beverages after a hard day at work or after traveling. Not only is the 8900 a good place to chill with a cold brew, but they also have some pretty good food for a hotel restaurant. I’ve had a couple of the burgers and they have always satisfied my hungry appetite. I usually travel here about once a month for work and my company always puts me up the Four Points so this bar is very convenient for me; I just love the happy hour here with a cold drink and a buffet of appetizers to absorb my New Glarus Moon Man beer buzz. The staff here is great. The bartender is very attentive to my needs and makes sure my beer is waiting on me when I walk into the bar. It is like my home away from home.
