Halliday’s is: *The place I go to get drinks before standing out in the cold for Red Light Ramen *The place where I once had too many drinks, causing me to miss out on Red Light Ramen *Your standard issue divey bar with video poker machines for«Entertainment Only» *Where the bartender kindly looks like other way so I can«carry out» my beer to wait in the cold for Red Light Ramen *Full of fairly wasted patrons who probably enjoy Nickleback *Not that bad, really! Let’s be real — its the closest bar to Red Light Ramen — that is what you need to know, people.

A janky fight club masquerading as a bar. Going there once was one time too many. It smelled moldy. The single employee was too drunk to serve customers(or keep her head upright). And there was a serious fight going on right inside the bar. Fortunately it didn’t take more than two minutes to realize what a disaster this place is.

One of the strangest and worst bar experiences I’ve ever had. Went in with a group of 8 who were served drinks and shots that equaled about $ 50. Bartender(daughter of the owner) comes over to serve me, and I ask for a water, and was told«you can’t come in my bar and order a water, so really, what do you want?» I laughed, thinking she was joking, but then I again said just a water. She then got very irritated, and raised her voice to everyone in the bar, sternly stating«no one will come in the bar and order a water.» My shocked friends asked her to further explain herself, and she just ran around in circles about how every patron must come in and purchase a drink, and then sent her mother(the owner) over to continue the same run-around about how no one can have water. The problem was that I wasn’t told I would have to purchase a water, I was just flat out denied. No wonder no one ever goes in this janky dive, run by two chain-smoking, old boiler women who pick fights with patrons.
The best time to go to this bar is on St. Patrick’s day, otherwise it is a slow bar with an older crowd. Great outdoor patio.

On a sunday in January my bf and I walked to dinner and one bar where we had two drinks each. We decided to walk to another bar and picked this place which we never went to before. Looked fine inside but we were clearly unwelcome. The oldish lady behind the bar was rude and scary. My bf couldn’t decide and I asked for a manhattan to which the lady replied condescendingly, «that’s what you want?» and told me I better think about that. Guess I should’ve asked for a guiness. The only other customer there must have been having a few and kept chiming in, offering to buy us both long islands, at which I laughed and finally said if he really wanted to I wouldn’t decline(I’d have returned the favor). Suddenly the lady sternly told us that she wasn’t going to serve us and that we better get out. I was shocked but we didn’t argue and merrily went on our way figuring we’d go elsewhere. The customer asked the woman repeatedly what the problem was but she wouldn’t say as we walked out. Neither of us were over the limit and I definitely wasnt intending to take advantage of the man offering to buy our drinks, so I really have no idea what we did wrong. Needless to say I’ll never return to or recommend this place to anyone.

Came in here on a random Friday night, around midnight… I have walked past this place at least a hundred times, and never actually gone in. From the outside, it doesn’t seem like anything special, but the inside is oddly charming and nice! It was a slow night, so there was only a single bartender, but she was friendly and made her drinks strong. So, the right way. It’s a cash only bar, so I was lucky that it was a rare night I actually had cash on me… it’s a split level set up, with two bars on each level, so there’s plenty of room and bar space. One thing that really stuck out as a bonus was that while being polite, the server sternly refused to serve someone who came in, who was clearly overly drunk(stumbling, slurring), even when their more sober friend tried to order a drink for them. They became a bit rude, and she was able to shrug off their comments, while not antagonizing them, and they left without trouble after a few minutes. Bravo! I have no clue what it’s like when it’s busy, or if it ever gets busy, but I’d definitely come back if any of my friends were interested!

Always a good time at Halliday’s. I love the small oval shaped bar. It really opens things up for a more social environment. I’ll admit that I’m usually half in the bag every time I come here. But so is everybody else, which definitely contributes to the fun. My only gripe is the prices are a little steep. $ 4 for a bottle of Miller High Life? This isn’t Russia. Is this Russia?

Honestly there is wrong with this bar or their prices. However the fact remains that they would not honor a credit that was given to me on the previous visit. Essentially they denied money I had already given them, and kept the sheet the bartender wrote which said how much money I was owed. I cannot respect any business that would take my money and not give me anything for it. Avoid then for their unfair business practices, and never trust them if they say they can just write you a voucher instead of giving you change.

I really want to like this bar, but it is waaaay over priced and it is CASHONLY. The patio was cool and the inside area has a nice 70s throwback feel. This would be a 4 star rating if they would adopt 1980s technology and allow me to pay with my debit card.

An interesting setting. Seemed to be for more of a middle aged crowd but friendly bartenders and an amazing patio out back.

So I’ve been to Halliday’s twice now, just by chance both times. Every time I go there, I have a complete blast. The bar is always crowded with fun loving and enthusiastic people! It’s a fantastic local, neighborhood bar. I don’t remember the depth of their beer selection, but I recommend just grabbing a pitcher or two of Miller Lite and a seat at the bar… the fun and conversation will come to you. Both times I was at Halliday’s my night ended with a few high-fives around the bar and requests from other other(more regular) customers that I come back. I really want to go back as a destination, rather than just a stop during the night. I’m sure I’ll leave with some great stories and one hell of a buzz. Two thumbs up for Hallidays.
