This is the first review I have written on Unilocal, but after a fantastic trip to World of Beer, I felt compelled to spread the word. As someone who has been on a gluten free diet for 25 years(of which I have been 21+ for 6), I have never seen such an amazing selection of gf options. I am usually lucky to see one or two overly sweet or barely palatable options. maybe a cider, and MAYBE a gluten free beer. I tried to count… This place had at least 12 gluten free beers and about 30 ciders, some of which I had never seen. There was such an amazing variety… Sadly, I did not consume 40+ beers that night so I couldn’t try them all but I would certainly go back for more. The atmosphere was great for a casual mid 20s/early 30s crowd, and the prices were right. I came from out of town but next time I’m in Milwaukee I will be back!

Average. I love the concept of a beer bar with a huge selection… if you were to have a normal bar with beer selection this big, I would be concerned that the bottles are waaaaaay old. But since beer is all they do, it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Great selection, always can find a great beer. The problem here is atmosphere. It is bland and boring inside, and the bar staff just don’t give off any warmth. Nothing memorable about them, nothing at all that makes me say, «I have to go back there!!!» Would I return? Yes. Would I go out of my way? No.

It was my first time and I was pretty impressed with their selection and the crowd. Or maybe the lack of one! It wasn’t too crowded and the live band wasn’t obnoxiously loud which made was just right for me. And my visit was on a Saturday around 11 pm!

I’ve been to World of Beer just a handful of times… yesterday was probably the third time but it was during the USA World Cup game and it complete craziness. I have to give props to the efficiency of the bartenders yesterday. They were doing a great job keeping up with the intense crowd; once you got up to the bar, the wait time to get a beverage wasn’t too bad. WOB must be like heaven to a beer connoisseur. They have an extensive menu and everything on display in shiny cases which are slightly reminiscent of a grocery store. Prices vary per selection, and I’m unsure if they run any specials as I have never been here when there was a special. There are many tvs to watch sporting events. There is seating along the bar, booths, tables, and tables outside. I feel the crowed is diverse — not overly bro-y, not overly snobby. It is a nice place to meet and try something new, but I personally have never spent much time here before my group ventured on.

I saw that they were running a Leinenkugel’s special last night, where you could get a pint of beer, and keep the glass for $ 4. So what did I do after finishing off a long, warm walk on what was one of the hottest days of the year to date? I stopped for a dang beer. And I’m glad I did! I won’t lie, I live 2 blocks from here, and pass it 12 times a day(give or take 10) but I’ve never been. I’m not a huge beer drinker, and I don’t generally go to a lot of bars, so… yeah, I’ve never been. I stopped in around 6pm and they weren’t too busy, but it was nice that the bartender greeted me with a menu before I even sat down. I ordered my $ 4 Leinie’s, gave the bartender a $ 5 bill and was given $ 2.85 in change. Not sure if the beer was half off for happy hour or what, but I got a beer, and a glass for $ 2.15. Not bad at all. They have some interesting food options, despite not really having a kitchen. I’m definitely going to go back and try some food in the future though.

I’m not a beer person, so I’ll leave the in depth analysis to the experts. But I did wind up here on a pub crawl with a group, and it was the perfect venue for it. Lots and lots, and did I mention lots of beer selections for those that like that kinda thing. A couple of cider selections for those of us that are beerheads. The pear cider that I had tasted great and was served well chilled, which added to the taste. Ciders usually have softer flavors and can be thrown off my dirty taps and/or lines but that’s not a concern here at all. They also boast a decent tavern fare menu and I was impressed that the same giant pretzel with side of mustard that is about $ 15 at other joints can be had here for a mere $ 8. Great for group gatherings or watch the game!

I have been to WOB several times and always had a good experience with friendly, knowledgable bartenders. As you can imagine, they have a phenomenal beer selection. About 20 beers on tap and hundreds in bottles and cans. Not much to eat although they have added a few appetizers. Primarily a place to go try a new beer you’ve never had.

Really crappy clientele. If you’re not in college or six beers deep, this probably isn’t your place. And they often have really crappy cover bands playing Matchbox 20 or what-have-you. But… amazing beer selection and really friendly staff. If you can find a seat on a quieter day it’s definitely worth a stop for the beer selection alone!

From the outside it looks like Bro City, but once we stepped inside it was déjà vu. This place is exactly the same as another bar I’ve been too in Bloomington, IN. Shit! I’ve been duped! It’s not local. it’s a chain. Ugh! That being said, the staff was pretty friendly and really knowledgable. The beer bottle selection was awesome, tap selection was average. For as many times as I have scoffed at the overly bright florescent(ok, probably LED) lighting, grocery store-ish cases of beer, & occasional acoustic guitar player in here as I walked by –I really liked this place! There is something overly home-y and comfortable about it. You can bring in food from neighboring vendors, spend hours perusing the menu and bottles in the cooler, and there are plenty of tv’s if you are trying to watch a game. Best of all, they have banana bread beer! Add a shot of chocolate stout and its chocolate covered banana beer!(I randomly made that up – so if it doesn’t taste good, you’ve been warned.)

First time here and was extremely impressed with the bottles selection. I like the booth and bar stool seating to make it easy to expand your group to a few tables if needed. Prices weren’t too bad and our server was somewhat knowledgeable with te selection. I wish she knew a bit more about the beers to help with selections. ill definitely return to try some more beers and maybe some appetizers.

3 for now. Maybe a 4 with time. As George stated, service was moving pretty well, and that’s a huge plus given the size of the beer list and number of taps. I’m now a member of the loyalty/royalty club and added something like 24 points between two of us on the first outing. I’m being challenged to make top five within a year now that I live just down Brady. I’m sure it’s feasible. It is a bit like drinking beer in a store, as you spend the time looking at giant reach in coolers full of beer. There’s hope that we’ll see some live music there given the stage, but I didn’t happen to see anything advertised. Food, sadly, is a new work in progress. I won’t judge them for that, based on that fact. The menu looks okay, but they were out of a couple of items due to not knowing how much of anything will sell yet. Totally understandable. But the Polish sausage wasn’t a sausage. Maybe it was Polish, but I don’t know where the pig where was born. It looked and tasted like a hot dog. A good hot dog, but still… it wasn’t a sausage. Oversight or out of stock, who knows? But it needs work. The staff was extremely helpful and they seemed to be decently in tune with the beers on tap and what was good to follow from beer to beer. I’ll be back, and I hope I’ll get to like the place more. Also, beer shots. Mixed. I was sent one of cider with Delirium Tremens. I’d drink that full-sized…

World of BO! We have one down in Ft. Myers so yes its a chain corporate store. This one was packed to the gills, with customers and servers. Outside seating was a plus. As it was really tight quarters inside. Hard to breath, think or move. The staff and customers suffered today. Here some one should think safety and operations to get a door man to slow the rush and ease up since you can only sell so many drinks max without jamming it up with people. I’m sure the staff probably hated customers by the end of the night since it was a maze to get around. Some of the animals here kept passing flatulence. I believe the porta johns had better ventilation than the whole building. The staff here seemed fast and was able to give good service even though they were slammed from Brady st customers. They have a great selection of drafts and bottles from around the world. I get the idea but I rarely will go out just to buy a mystery bottle and find a beer that is a beer I can only drink at 1 – 2 places. Food only had 1 beer. That was enough. Amb 1 Too packed. Body odor sweat farts. Deodorant people! It doesn’t apply itself. Profits before people? Not a comfort zone at all. Service 4 fast bartenders. Location 3 not good for parking. Value 2. Sorry not a fan.

Impressive beer selection with bottles categorized by region. Prices are reasonable. Flights are a great way to sample the beers on tap.

Very bright inside! Went there with 2 of my friends and our server was new and wrote happy hour selections on a wet piece of paper… um thanks? She was not very attentive to us at all, the manager however was awesome and helped us out. Lots of beer selections of course, it’s in the name. I would suggest going during happy hour because some of the beers can be a bit pricy.

This place is okay. It is worth a stop. Pros: 1. Service. Though, the servers were all very attractive young young women with rather skimpy attire. All blonde. Just stereotypical. Two served us through the evening, and both were very nice. But I am highly suspicious of the owner/manager. 2. Variety. Lots of different beers to choose from, many on tap. Cons: 1. Serious lack of comfort. Very metallic environment. Some tables, but just stools without backs(at the tables, not just the bar area). NOT a place I would recommend for a full evening, just a stop for a single beer. Or you will be uncomfortable. Not a hang out. 2. Price. Overpriced. Bring it down a buck or two where possible and you create happier customers with more loyalty. Especially in light of no comfortable seating — you aren’t winning anyone with ambiance and comfort, better win them with better prices.

The Clipper and Laker jerseys on the huge screens brought me in. The monstrous amounts of world beers, microbrews, and the amazing staff made me stay until close. A modern layout with a detailed beer list, it’s easy to get distracted with the beautiful bottles in the fridges that say«Hey, don’t you wanna try me too»? I listened, and grabbed a couple that I hadn’t had in years from Eastern Europe. The fridge sections are divided by their country of origin and are easy to read after a few drinks hit the noggin’. Cool background music, cool people. Definitely check this place out and say hi to Jay and Jayne for me!

Love their massive selection! I don’t care if it is a chain – the people are local. Great place. My only negative is the acoustics make it hard to talk to your date. They should install some acoustic sound absorbers on the ceiling or strategically on the walls. No fun to drink beer and not hear the person you’re standing with talk. I’ll be back. I love the selection and the wait staff was very friendly.

I like World of Beer. It’s got a bunch of HDTVs so you can keep your eye on the game, tons of beers and usually a few good specials, live music and on my visits, I’ve had good service. The disdain others pour on this place for being a chain is undeserved. Chain restaurants attract my ire when they serve food that tastes like it was just rolled out of the back of the Sysco truck. Furthermore, chains are often disgustingly dirty(I haven’t eaten at an Olive Garden in at least 10 years, but I recall looking at the wall from my seat in a booth and seeing the walls splattered with tomato sauce. I suspect this is from the bus agressively stacking saucy plates atop one another). And I’ve had my forearms stick to the top of more than one TGIF bar top too. I’ve yet to see a chain screw up a good bottle of beer. And as for the«buy local» bent, I imagine the proprietor is a local franchisee, the employees live nearby, and they’ve got a great number Wisconsin craft beer selections to choose from. Sorry, but if you’re gonna be hating on a chain, hate it for the quality if it’s poor. Don’t be hating just because it’s a chain.

I came here to kill some time before a dinner I was having close by and figured they had to have a good amount of beers on tap, especially those that I haven’t had before. I am a beer snob and am very particular about the variety of beers on and off top and the glasses they get poured into. When we first walk in it has a sports bar feel to it just with lots of beer, which sort of threw me for a loop since it is complete opposite of my favorite beer bar down in Bay View. They have a loyalty card and the whole nine yards here. The bartender was awesome with talking about the different breweries and we connected on talking about beer like it was a nice scotch or collectable car. I wasn’t too impressed with their tap selection hoping out of the 40 taps that there would be a few I hadn’t tried before and would have a variety of beer on Nitro and Cask/Firkin. I was wrong. They had 2 on Nitro with Guiness being on of them and no firkin beers. I like places that try out new things with different beers on Nitro or Firkin to give it a unique taste or feel to it. There is no food here and was pricey compared to what I am used to paying even at a beer bar. They had a great selection of bottled and canned beer that was organized by region; with 4 coolers flanking the taps. Overall, service was good but the atmosphere is that of a sports bar with no food and a corporate BW3 style to it. Worth a shot but if you are looking for a variety of beer there are a few down south a bit. Bayview and third ward have great places and would go to either before coming back here.
