First, I’m not sure how I’ve lived down the street from this bar for three years and not made it in until now. Finally went last night to meet up with a friend for her birthday and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Very cool little dive bar and I found it incredibly charming that they were actually watching the baseball game on TV and not just using it as background noise. The vibe here was comfortable and so we made ourselves at home for awhile. Our group of 8 was able to grab a table without a problem, which was definitely appreciated. Also love that this place is dog friendly… The fluffy St. Bernard sighting while I was enjoying my beer was an awesome perk. My only complaint is that I didn’t love their beer selection, but it wasn’t for lack of effort… They had a number of choices just couldn’t find anything to really suit my fancy.

They welcome dogs! They welcome dogs! They welcome dogs! 5 stars! My boyfriend and I took our young Aussie on a Sunday to watch the Packers game. It was so much fun having our pup with us! Drinks are cheap, crowd is friendly. Definitely will go back!

I’ve tried to understand the appeal of the Roman Coin. I get that it’s a no-frills dive bar on a street of «get all gussied up and dance to Drake» establishments, but this place is not for me. Rarely do I go somewhere once and then write a review, but I’m confident I will not return. There was a horrible smell. It was legitimately what my middle school locker room smelled like. Old gym clothes that haven’t been washed in a while and are balled up in a locker. I don’t know if it was one(or more) of the patrons or if its just the way the building smells, but there’s no way I can come back. I was overdressed for this place and got strange looks. There isn’t a certain«type» of person who goes to this bar, from what I can tell. Weird old guys with gold chains, college kids in ironic trendy clothing, cougars – the whole deal. I like that, but wish they would have treated me differently. They serve drinks in little plastic cups. There’s no way those hold the amount that bars typically serve. And it’s cash only as every single review has already stated. tl;dr I wish I could have enjoyed Roman Coin more but a mystery smell made me moody.

Pros: 1. Dogs are welcome! 2. Pool table 3. Beer. Lots of good cheap beer. Cons: 1. No food menu 2. Cash only(although there is an ATM) Worth giving a try if you’re in the area or want to hang out with some dogs.

Passing through Milwaukee, en route to the U.P., our only night was spent in the Brady Street area. As our evening wound down we wandered into the Roman Coin and were promptly greeted by one happy pooch, only to find yet another occupying a seat at the bar. Being animal lovers and unpretentiophiles, we immediately knew this was our kind of place. A pleasantly laid back, neighborhood watering hole is what we had found and water ourselves, we did. Friendly people, friendly pups, and friendly prices. Thumbs up.

Who doesn’t love a bar that allows dogs inside?! Automatic bonus points! Cash only — so come prepared(although they do have an ATM inside). Great, classic, Brady Street establishment all around! Sidebar: I’ve had better bloody Mary’s — stick to beer /mixers!

Cute, little no-frills dive bar that is dog friendly. The drink prices are reasonable, there is a pool table and pinball machine and some outside tables for warm weather people watching on Brady St. This place has a pretty cool history as well which was interesting to hear/read about. I suggest checking it out whether you are a local or tourist.

The Roman Coin is the real deal, folks. This Brady Street dive extraordinaire has been around for what seems like forever, but in the last few years, this spot has really come into its own vis a vis craft beer selections and an appeal to a more diverse crowd. Back in the day I remember Roman Coin being the requisite«old dudes drinking at 6am» spot on Brady, but these days, it’s all ages cool and accessible dive-style, more open and inclusive, seemingly.(I attribute this to them becoming a bit more marketing savvy in the past few years. Way to go, Roman Coin!) You’ll find lots of craft suds in bottles and on tap, normal bar-type offerings in the way of boozes, Big Buck Hunter, pinball, a pool table, an internet jukebox… you get it, right? I’ve heard the men’s bathroom is super grody. The women’s is pretty gnarly, so I can only imagine… Bottom line: dive-y goodness right on Brady, a nice change of pace from other spots in the area if you’re looking for a cheap-ish, laid-back good time spot. Recommend!

I walked in with two friends. As soon as we walked in we got rude stares from the bartender and the regulars sitting at the bar and they wouldn’t take their eyes off us for some reason. We were looking at their blackboard for specials trying to decide what we wanted and the bartender said«what can I get you» and stood there uncomfortably staring even after we told her we needed a minute. After we got our drinks(not the friendliest service), we decided to sit down somewhere in the middle of the place. There was a large dog sitting nearby, which was pretty odd and seemed unsanitary. It was clearly a regular because there was a bowl of food and water set out for it. The worst part is that a few minutes later, the dog PISSED on the floor and the group of people sitting around it acted like it was no big deal. They grabbed some napkins and started sopping it up. Didn’t really clean it thoroughly and the entire bar REEKED of piss. We didn’t want to stay for another minute after that so we quickly finished our beers and left through the back door. I understand dive bars aren’t going to be the most charming, but the place was dirty and unfriendly and the pissing dog was the last straw. Never going back.

Having a better time. Cody makes an amazing Bloody Mary. Surprised how well the place runs without the owner. I’m having fun.

Great game day spot! Brewers on one TV, Badgers on the other. Fantastic prices, especially on local tap beers! And dogs, small and large, everywhere!

We came, we saw, we tried to drink all their beer! Drinks served in plastic cups. Awesome dive bar! Internet jukebox. Daily specials. There’s a pool table, friendly bartenders and cheap drinks. This place is dog friendly. There’s actually a dog bowl on the floor, filled with water. There’s a pinball machine and an eighty’s style video game, complete with donkey kong and frogger.

How have I never been here before??? There’s roaming dogs and neighborhood locals, fat tire on tap and a genuine laid-back neighbor hood-y feel.(I didn’t see any cats **only dogs** for the record but im sure they’d be welcome if they needed a drink after a particularly stressful day of napping on the couch.)

I’ve had a review for ‘The Coin’(that’s what people call it, people) sitting in draft limbo for over a year now. After stopping by again last weekend it made me want to write about it. This bar is dog friendly. This bar is cash only. This bar has a pool table. This bar has a juke box. This bar has a pinball machine and a multi-arcade machine. This bar has a bunch of taps and a bunch of bottles. This bar has glorious windows. This bar has friendly people. This bar, is pretty great. (This bar does not have great bathrooms. Seriously though, you’ve been warned)

One of the only few bars on Brady that is worth actually going to. This bar also has affordable drinks and great people. It has a very laid back, unpretentious atmosphere where everyone is welcome. Teri and Scott are awesome people who treat everyone as if they have already known them for years.

Affordable drinks, generous pours, and friendly service. This is a neighborhood bar feel with a more open atmosphere. They even allow you to have food delivered here! We stopped by while waiting for our table at Thai-Namite. When our table was called, the bartender put our drinks in plastic cups so we could take them over. They have several dogs in this bar. The dogs kept to themselves, but if you’re allergic like me this is a good thing to know before you go in. CASHONLY — keep this in mind so you are prepared.

$ 2 tallboys, at least on Wednesdays, and friendly dogs roam about the place, which is well-worn with a chill vibe. What’s not to like?

Descriptive phrase: townie bar(with puppies!) on Brady. I’ve been to Regano’s Roman Coin twice now, and I may never return to the east-end of Brady ever again because of it. Why fight the frat boys and drunk girls and shout at a hipster bartender when you can chat with laid-back locals and bartenders over a cheap beer at the Coin? There’s outdoor seating, there’s indoor seating, there’s a very long bar, there’s board games and $ 0.75 pool(cheapest I’ve found in MKE). It’s cash-only, but you probably have enough on you anyway for a few drinks. The drinks are all cheap and the bartenders couldn’t be nicer. They don’t tolerate rowdiness, but this isn’t a place for that. There’s been some odd nights, but I honestly think my most enjoyable bar experiences on Brady have been here. Come for a chill time with friends, and don’t forget to pet the dogs.
