Oh man. This was just the place I needed to stop on after a late night closing down Wolski’s the night before. Huge burgers, served with a large side of thick cut sweet potato fries, and a bartender who knows how to make drinks definitely was the cure to my hangover. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable about the vegan items on the menu, directing me to which burger(I had the house made black bean), which side(as stated I chose the sweet potato fries), and which bun(surprisingly, the pretzel bun) fit my dietary needs. He even let me know he’d tell the kitchen not to put butter on my bun, something I’m not used to a server beating me at the punch on. The burger was so flavorful, and filling, that despite the fact I went in there ravenous, I had half a burger and what looked to be a full serving of fries left(it wasn’t, they just serve you so many!)

The burgers here might just be the best I’ve ever had, which is why I’ve gone more than once, and when people ask if I have any preferences for going out to eat, I slip«Stack’d» in my answer. Really good food and friendly staff:) The location is nice and the atmosphere is fun too. Not sure what’s not to like!

If this was a review for the bar only, I’d up the rating because the beer menu here is pretty darn cool. They have a few interesting cocktails, as well. Since Stack’d is more a restaurant than straight up bar, the food is just not up to par in my book. It’s a great location, so they’ll always have that going. But the value proposition is rather poor. You will pay a ton for a burger and that burger will be somewhere between meh/mediocre and ok/pretty good. I tried one of the day’s specials, Pollo Verde chicken sandwich, it was a whopping $ 14 and«ok» tasting, not something that would bring me back. The chicken flavor was just alright and the lettuce looked liked it perhaps wasn’t as fresh but I couldn’t tell if that was because they put it underneath the warm pulled chicken versus putting(what should be) the fresh greens, on top. The appetizers(portabella fries & fired pickles) and side with my sandwich(onion rings) had really, really heaving breading. So, depends on what you like in the breading world. I tasted my friends’ pulled pork and I didn’t think that was anything to write home about. I probably would’ve had to douse it in more BBQ sauce. The thing I liked most about Stack’d’s non-drink items was the sriracha ranch — but I can simply buy my favorite ranch dressing and squirt some sriracha in it myself. Also, speaking of that, I’m huge against nickeling and diming me as a customer and again Stack’d loses on the value proposition because they will hit you up $ 0.50 if you want extra dip/dressing. I really that that is stupid. On my previous 2 visits here(in over 6 years) nothing really ever brought me back, hence the low return frequency. I only returned recently because of the location and that there was an outdoor patio. Next time with those same needs, I’d opt for someplace else. If for just drinks, I’d return to Stack’d.

This place serves up some seriously good burgers to order. They even have bison on the menu if you are so inclined. I guess my main reason for not giving more stars, is that Milwaukee has so many awesome burger joints that have been in town for several decades. Personally, when I am craving a burger, I will most likely go to Kopp’s, knowing, that I will most likely have to fend off 2 – 3 kid’s baseball teams in line. Stack’d does have an awesome location. I am a little surprised this place doesn’t try to sell itself as a full-fledged bar given how busy the bars in the third ward and just a little south of their location in walker’s point typically are. Closing at 10 or 11pm won’t put this place on my radar as a possible location for an evening together. Aside from burgers, this place as a pretty good deep fried pickle.

Great food, not-so-great service. I’ve been to Stackd quite a few times. In my experience there, there have always been two truths that will apply: 1. The food will be really good. 2. The service will be pretty slow. The service tonight definitely applied that truth, and then some. Typically, it can take 20 — 25 minutes to receive your food at Stack’d, which is okay because you typically have time to talk and enjoy the décor. However, our food tonight took, at the very least, 35 — 40 minutes. I find it very odd, as, while Stack’d is normally pretty busy(as it was tonight), there are plenty of servers. However, it always seems as if the servers disappear for minutes at a time. I had ordered my burger medium rare. My burger was closer to medium than rare(which is okay — I can live with a little overcooked). Unfortunately, I could tell my burger had been sitting under the heat lamp — the bun was completely dried out, ruining what normally would be a great burger experience. The fries seemed okay overall. Overall, Stack’d has a good burger. Other than tonight with a really dried-out bun, I’ve never had a bad burger experience. However, I’ve learned to expect a slow wait, and tonight was the slowest service I’ve received in quite a while. So, Stack’d can be quite good — just make sure that you’re prepared to spend a while waiting.

This is a good place — go here! I went with my family, four of us showed up at 6:30 on a Saturday night. We waited 20 minutes(exactly what the hostess’ estimate was btw). we found the place because it was highly recommended as a safe place to eat for people who require gluten-free food. On the GF scale, they were a solid 10. I’d eat here without hesitation. Things are clearly marked and they seem very conscientious about their food prep. Both GF and non-GF fare was delicious and cooked perfectly. Nothing worse than a great burger that’s overcooked, but these were perfect. The skinny fries had just a little skin on them and were nice and hot. We got a side of fries that was huge! Overall, we had great food and great service and the price was right.

Great Service! Amazing bugers! Delicious pretzel buns! Fried pickles to die for! Fries…ehhh kind of limp and lack seasoning. Always go for the mac and cheese. That needs a little salt tho too.

GREAT, GREEEAAAAT burger. I got the Kick in the Pants. Not too spicy, but had a nice zip. Nice, creamy cole slaw on the side. Tremendous beer selection — they actually have 8 or so Belgian Abbey beers, so I was set. Free 2-hour street parking a stone’s throw from the front door. Friendly staff. I’ll definitely return! Next time I’ll bring the family.

Last night, we were in the mood for good burgers, and that’s exactly what we found at Stack’d The option of building one’s own(bison, in this case) involved excellent ingredients and a full range of choices. My boyfriend added goat cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions and a pretzel bun for a made-to-order lean meal. The pulled pork sandwich was the best I’ve had outside of a specialty barbeque restaurant– finely shredded with decent sauce. The sides, unfortunately left a lot to be desired. The fries were mostly limp and greasy, and our server could not highly recommend any other options, including the twisted mac and cheese(named for cavatappi noodles rather than flavors). That said, after feasting on our sandwiches, we barely had room for anything else.

I have eaten here 4 times now and every time I just feel slighted cheated, like it should have been a little better, it just never delivers that exceptional flavor … why? I’m not exactly sure other than a burger is the sum of the parts and if you miss one component or flavor the whole thing is thrown off. So… everything is good, just not excellent. On a recent lunch outing I tried the build your own bison burger for the first time. I had it medium rare on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles and avocado. The waitress also accommodated my request for a side of horseradish. It was all good and fresh. I substituted soup for the side and found it acceptable but overly salty. Atmosphere is cozy and warm. Staff was friendly. Lunch crowd was minimal on a cold Monday. I would definitely go back but not go out of my way to visit again.

Stack’d is a unique burger joint. We enjoyed the burgers we ate there but truth be told, there was nothing out of the ordinary that would draw me back time and time again. The best standout was the BANHMI which isn’t even a «burger». The Asian style pulled pork with ginger cilantro, mayo, ham & pickled cucumber slaw was super tasty. Best time to come here would be the summer so you can sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Service was solid. All said it is an OK joint.

When people ask about«burgers» in MKE, there are PLENTY of options. Even so, Stack’d is typically on my «recommend» list — and definitely the best burger in Walker’s Point. The best part? Options. You can build-your-own burger — which pretty well guarantees everyone will get what they want. Several options for patty type mean you can get Bison meat or pick between several vegetarian options. Cheese, toppings and side options are all pretty robust and if you’re debating on bun type — just go with the pretzel bun. If you’re concerned about pricing, just be cautious on the build-your-own(or go to a different place — Stack’d is NOT a cheap burger joint)! It’s easy to add on everything that looks good and end up with a pretty pricey burger! The«preset» burger options also cover a wide variety but help with price control. All burgers are topped with a fried pickle, which adds some extra intrigue. Would not recommend picking the slaw for a side — you will get a LOT of it, and it’s a pretty run-of-the-mill slaw — not worth eating in bulk. Stack’d has a full bar and a lot of local brewing options. Plus they have«spiked» or «virgin» shake and float options. So you have options for both workday luncheon and weekend shopping boozing. Service /wait times at Stack’d can be hit or miss. — Have gone with larger groups for work lunches and have seen both awesome and atrocious service(like, so long of a wait on getting food that we almost left kind of atrocious)… It’s nice that they have space to accommodate larger groups though(just call ahead)! — A regular week night dinner has seen quick and pleasant service or super awkward slow service. — There have been a few Friday nights where Stack’d was the only place downtown without a 30 minute wait to be seated though, and that’s a HUGE plus when you’re starving. So really, it’s been all over the board for Stack’d and I over the past few years. Typically street parking isn’t too bad on the edge of Walker’s point there either — Stack’d does NOT have a private lot. Definitely would NOT try to get to Stack’d via car if it’s Summerfest season with the way traffic goes. Basically: If you’re a burger fan, Stack’d is definitely worth a stop.

My favorite burger in milwaukee along with a good selection of craft beers makes this a favorite staple. The one real knock here is that it’s a bit pricey for a burger, but so what it’s worth it. My real trick is to try only coming here when my diet allows me the call=ories I’m about to throw down because it’s a big burger and fries and beers and well you see where I’m going with this. I’ve been here a ton of times and my favorite seat is at the bar. I get the best service there over anywhere else. The rest of the place I’d say service is average. There is outdoor seating to enjoy the short mke summers, but your sitting by the street so you can’t see much of anything. If they have a burger of the week special on the chalkboard I’d say try it as I’ve had some great things that way. Otherwise the hangover stack is always great!

The star description tells the truth: I’m a fan of Stack’d! The burgers are on the pricier side, but they’re tasty. I do love a build-your-own-burger joint, and Stack’d has some really nice specialty ingredients to make your burger totally over the top.(I’m a fan of the gouda, myself.) The cheese curds are okay, not a must-try, but the onion rings are AWESOME and the fried pickles are definitely unique. Service can sometimes be on the slower side, but personally I’ve never had a bad service experience here. This is a burger place that I’d take my parents to when they’re in town or go to on a date(both of which I have done, and it’s been a hit both times!).

I had a meeting at Colectivo next door and only had 35 – 40 minutes to sneak dinner in, so I figured I’d roll the dice and give Stack’d another chance. It was a Wednesday evening and the place was pretty empty. As soon as I walked in, a hostess promptly came up and greeted me with a friendly smile.(Good start) She sat me and told me my server would be right with me. The server appeared within seconds and also greeted me with a friendly smile. She asked me what I’d like to drink and reviewed the specials on the menu.(so far so good) I already knew what I wanted because I scouted the menu online before I arrived, a build-your-own burger with grass-fed beef($ 12), bacon($ 1.50), avocado($ 1), and sauteed mushrooms($.50) on a classic bun with a side of regular fries. The $ 15 included the bun and regular handcut fries, so I had that going for me. Some bread and side options carried up-charges. When it arrived, I was pretty pleased. It looked worth the $ 15 with a massive steak knife plunged into the center holding the garnish of fried pickle slices in place on the bun. The fried pickles were delicious with perfect texture and flavor. The handcut fries(I double-checked and she confirmed they were handcut) were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Most importantly, they didn’t look like crap because they were cooked in clean oil(again, the place wasn’t that busy). I ordered my burger medium and took a couple of bites to see how it was cooked. Alas, it was cooked well-done, just like my first visit 2 years ago. It’s beef! I won’t die if I eat it undercooked a little. Go ahead and take the chance on undercooking it a bit. So the patty was dry, of course. However, the patty had decent seasoning, and the bacon, avocado, and mushrooms were on point. So overall, I enjoyed the burger. My server checked on me a few bites in. I didn’t have time to wait for a re-fire, so I just told her everything was good, which it was, just not great. IF there is a next time, I might order rare or medium rare, and maybe they’ll cook it medium for me.

If you are a burger aficionado, may I suggest that you check out Stack’d? It is an amazing burger bar that is located in the fifth ward neighborhood, in the old Kramer Foundry building. Their burgers are made from 100% grass-fed beef that is absolutely delicious. You can also choose from bison, steak, chicken, or turkey for your meat. For those who prefer not to eat meat, you can choose either a portabella mushroom, black bean veggie, or chickpea walnut. Once you pick your protein, then you can pick your cheeses, toppings, and your bun. And they will cook your burger to your desired temperature. Stack’d has over 100 beer selections, both bottle and tap. If you are looking for a new or different beer to try, this would be a good place for you to check out. One thing that I really like about Stack’d is that they support local businesses. They buy their ingredients and other products local as much as possible. I think this is wonderful. There will be more trips to Stack’d for me in the future.

And I found myself back here, again. This time, I left having enjoyed myself and my food. Is review redemption possible? We were seated right away and our server was friendly, helpful, funny, and humored us. Check, check, check, check. The food was better than I expected. The cheese curds were very good. The fried pickles were good. My burger… my burger I think was just pretty good(it was a Melt Burger, BLT style), but like a crazy pregnant lady, I asked for a side of peanut butter. The server hoped they were for dipping my sweet potato fries into, but alas, no, it was to slather on my burger, miss. She hooked me up, albeit with much skepticism. Husband backed me up that peanut butter on a burger was indeed a thing, and not just a pregnancy craving. If you haven’t tried it… you SHOULD. Something out that burger that day was OUTSTANDING. Yep. Outstanding. I did try the peanut butter with the sweet potato fries, and that was kinda tasty, too, but the fries themselves were a little soggy. Crisp those suckers up and salt ‘em down and they would have been awesome with peanut butter, too. The rest of my party had a hard time getting beers on time and I swear I always catch my servers meal breaks, but otherwise, the best experience I’ve had here yet!

Stack’d Revisited Was I harsh in my past review for Stack’d? No way. I’ve been back a handful of times since and things have definitely improved on all levels. It’s still not my favorite spot but I’ve had a few good salads now along with the build your own(turkey) burgers. Stack’d definitely deserves another star at this point. Keep it up!
