I met my group at 11:30am on a Saturday and waited maybe 10 minutes for a table, we were lucky to beat the lunch rush that came in shortly after us. Not a lot of space if you have to wait. We had Barbara as a waitress, I’d ask for her if you get a choice! I had a healthy dose of Mimosas — keep ‘em coming! Another drink at our table was«Sludge»? Their elite version of a Bloody Mary and it was well received at our table! I had the steak breakfast burrito. This had to be the most tender steak I’ve ever had in a breakfast burrito! I was impressed to say the least. I can’t wait to try lunch or dinner there sometime. Pricing is a little on the high end, but it’s Milwaukee and quality often comes at a price.

A highly underrated place to get brunch on the east side. Service is typically great, and they have some really excellent choices on the menu. I love the veg stack benedict, and the steak bruschetta honestly haunts my thoughts from time to time. The variety of breakfast cocktails does not disappoint. The standard bloody is solid and seems to be on special a lot, and they have some fun variations as well. All served with a Lakefront chaser! Despite the quality of service, food, and drink, I have never waited for a table, even on a Sunday. I shouldn’t complain, but I feel like they should be a bit more popular. Overall, a four star place in my opinion. They get bumped to five stars because, as far as I can tell, they’re one of a very few places in the east side/brady/rwest vicinity that serves both breakfast foods and bloodys on a weekday. So many places serve brunch, and almost all of them limit it to Saturday and Sunday. I have two jobs, one in healthcare and the other in foodservice, so my «weekend» is usually a Tuesday or something, and dammit, I just want some eggs and an excuse to day drink with my similarly employed friends. The Eatery is a rare place for us to do that.

I had the breakfast burrito, but with bacon instead of the field roast. It was pretty tasty, though there was one or two bites of potato that tasted a little bit of dirt. The host was also my server. He admitted he’d only worked there about a week, so he had to ask someone else for answers to my questions, but he followed up on everything! I will definitely be back to try other things!

The Eatery is a nice option among the vast array of restaurants/bars on prospect. The atmosphere is definitely on the chill and casual end, and the service is always great. The food is good, but definitely nothing I’d go out of my way to get. One item that I do really like is their French Onion soup, which came topped with croutons and melted mozzarella and swiss cheese! The vast array of beer and libations is where it’s at with The Eatery. The microbrew snob will find their favorite Wisconsin brews, as well as some of the better ones from outside the region. I didn’t try one of their cocktails, but from the look of the menu, their offerings could easily turn this lightweight into a raging alcoholic. I shall return soon to give The Eatery another try during brunch, since that meal seems to be the one to hit up!

I really love The Eatery on Farwell. It’s an inviting neighborhood joint that boasts cool pictures and other collectibles on the walls and ceiling. Great outdoor patio on the side and covered patio in the front. The staff has always been friendly. I normally only go on weekends for brunch and they are always packed, which means good things! Although they are busy, the wait is never too long and it allows you time to get a Bloody Mary(spicy!) or drink of your choice at the bar. Come on a Sunday and the staff will be wearing their pajamas(patrons are welcome to as well). I’m happy that they’ve expanded their vegetarian menu over the last couple of years and still have yet to try all of the options. Huge fan of the veggie omelet with the Field Roast sausage(love the way they prepare it). My boyfriend normally gets the steak burrito and is a returning fan. They also serve my most favorite coffee in the world, Anodyne based out of Bay View. Food wise, they have a range of options from vegan to meat lovin’ so you’re sure to find something you will like. They have many rotating taps of good beer, the beer flight is a great option if you want to try a little of all of them. I haven’t tried their house infused vodkas but they look pretty tasty too. I highly recommend The Eatery and plan to enjoy their food for a long time.

I was really impressed with all of the vegetarian options on the menu. The jerk tofu wrap was amazing. So flavorful and spicy. I would definitely come back again. Prices and service were A-OK as well.

Hadn’t been to this place since it was a Mexican restaurant. Happily it serves breakfast for a long time each day so it was a perfect choice for folks looking for breakfast at 11am on a Friday. I had a vegetarian omelet that I thought was quite good, but no one else really seemed pleased with their food. The portions seemed small for some things(order of 2 scrambled eggs was very skimpy) and the potatoes that they talk up came out overcooked. But I thought the menu looked interesting and give them a thumbs up for serving anodyne coffee(which they were slow to refill and we were one of 3 tables). My 4-year old also appreciated the crayons and placement to color. She still asks how they made rainbow crayons there. might be nice to go back and sit outside some day

I’ve been to the Eatery many times since it has opened, and I’ve never been disappointed. It’s a great place to bring people from out of town when they visit, because the menu has something to please everyone and there are a lot of Wisconsin themed foods on the menu, such as the brat sliders and the Wisconsin burger. The décor has lots of historic black and white photos of Milwaukee, and is fun without being too kitschy. Furthermore, the beer list is among the best in Milwaukee, and reasonably priced considering the quality and diversity of their selection. My parents moved back to Milwaukee from Florida, and we have been there twice and had the same server both times, and she is fantastic.(I will add her name as soon as I can remember it). One of the best servers I have ever had. Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm, the restaurant prints off every open tab and chooses one at random, and comps your meal up to $ 75. Even if you don’t win, the prices are really reasonable, so this is definitely a place you can go regularly. We had an appetizer(brat sliders) two entrees(shrimp Alfredo and pan seared salmon) a glass of wine and a beer, and our bill was just under $ 60, which is a great deal considering the quality of the food and service. Finally, the patio is really dog friendly. If you have a dog with you, you can have someone in your party check in with the host, and they will meet you outside on the patio, which is accessible via a ramp from the sidewalk.

The outlaw burger, blackened shrimp pasta, and tofu jerk wrap are some of the highlights of the menu. My husband swears that the burger is the best in Milwaukee – and he eats a lot of burgers. Service is friendly; Rehorst products are available(even at happy hour); atmosphere is non-fussy but laid-back. Five stars for the kind of restaurant that it is – mid-priced neighborhood joint. Also, they serve blood orange mimosas(made with regular OJ and blood orange liqueur) that are very tasty. Glad to have this restaurant on the East Side. Good stuff.

Descriptive phrase: hipster hangover cure. A group of us came to The Eatery on Farwell recently on a Sunday morning to kick our hangovers in the pants. We had made reservations for 7, yet still had to wait about 30 minutes for enough space to open up because a group of hipsters(yes, I know that phrase is overused today but they were the definition) who were done with their meals were sitting and staring into their coffees. I understand you never want to push your customers out, but if there is another reservation and they’re literally doing nothing but taking up space, PUSHTHEMOUT. Anywho, the employees were all dressed in their pajamas which was kind of funny. The décor is very old-school beer and Milwaukee, with signs and memorabilia. Service after the reservation fiasco was good. I asked for a mimosa but the waitress recommended their Agent Orange($ 8) instead. It’s made with Rehorst vodka(local), Royale Montaine, orange syrup, and champagne. It was a large drink, and was a little fruitier than a classic mimosa, but I wouldn’t order it again. My companions enjoyed their Bloody Mary’s($ 8). My meal was the Duck Benedict($ 12). I’m usually a fan of duck, but their house duck sausage just wasn’t cutting it for me. The rest of the benedict was good, with well-poached eggs. I really liked my American fries, which are misnamed because they’re actually potato cubes. Overall my meal was okay. My companions really enjoyed their meals, though, so I will probably return and try something else.

I came here on a Wednesday night to meet up with some friends. They were all eating dinner, I was eating dessert. We ordered our food at 7:30, and it did not arrive until 8. All I had was the bread pudding, and my friends ordered two portobella mushroom burgers and a salad. Tables that had ordered after us received their food first. It was odd. Our server was very friendly, though, and did not mind splitting the check on 4 different cards. With that being said, I enjoyed my bread pudding. I’ve had better, as some portions were definitely hard, but it was a good portion and came with a side of ice cream. I will be back for brunch(looking forward to trying one of their legendary bloodies) and will hopefully upgrade this review. I have high hopes, Eatery!

I wish I lived in MKE. This place would definitely be a go to place. Their bloody mary creations by tasty infused vodkas are a must. As a dedicated carnivore, I settled upon a vegetarian scramble for brunch which was certainly tasty without the added taste that meat protein adds to any dishes. The staff wears pajamas on Sunday mornings. Interesting and cute idea to add to the laid back vibe. Yet they are definitely more attentive than the hipsters running Comet café who seem a little too aloof for my liking.

This placed was amazing. Phenomenal food & great service. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich & my choice of side I picked the tortilla soup. I added bacon to my grilled cheese. My husband ordered the hangover burger & his choice of side was the french onion soup. All of the food was fantastic. For dessert we split a piece of cheesecake. Candied bacon cheesecake. I know sounds gross. It was actually delicious. This place did not disappoint & our server was very attentive & funny. I highly suggest this place they’re a little slice of heaven. Update: Went there again today. This place did not fail to deliver again. I ordered the potatoes & then upgraded them with pulled ham, cheese curds & cheese sauce(whoever thought of this is a genius). I also ordered Kurt’s simple chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely phenomenal.

I do quite like this place. While I still am not a huge fan of the name, what does it matter? I’ll tell you what it matters: it matters not, friends. The laid-back, casual vibe of the joint coupled with great service and surprisingly well-done food make this unassuming spot on Farwell a real winner. Add to it a killer beer list, some of the best bloodies in town(order the Eatery sludge!), and a nice craft cocktail list and their focus on local brews, spirits, and the like, and well… you’ve got a go-to on the east side, my friends. Of note: the cheese curds here are out of this world good. Fried, yes, but not oily or greasy… they were ONPOINT, friends. Rachel likey.(Glad I ordered ‘em and really went for it on my cheat day.) We split the burger — I’m spacing on the burger’s name, dang! — that boasted homemade oatmeal stout BBQ sauce, onion straws, two kinds of cheese, serrano pickled pepper relish… so super good. Their menu is quite extensive and their brunch is the jam. See for yourself! Teevees behind the bar, and the whole vibe? It’s casual, with a focus on fun, kitsch, sports, and chill-ness. Two bloodies, a Bell’s Third Coast Ale and a Fixed Gear, cheese curds, and a burger ran us $ 46. Not too shabby! Upgrade, Eatery! I like you and give ya two big thumbs up.

I was surprised by the caliber of food they provide. Great beer and cocktail selections too! I used to live just a few blocks away yet never went here until right after I moved. My girlfriend enjoyed a veggie burger that was delicious and I had a regular burger. The food was good, good service, and had a great beer selection(always a big plus with me). I have to agree with Rachel’s review that the atmosphere is a bit«Chancery-ish». Definitely worth going to and grabbing a bite and cocktails before heading out on the town.

As others have mentioned, they have plenty of vegetarian options. Most of the menu options are homemade. I really like the chips and dip. I come here once in a while for networking for a group I’m involved in. I would highly recommend it as a meeting place because it is not packed during the week. During happy hour, a portion of their appetizers are half price. They have a nice selection of beers and cocktails too. The staff is nice, but not always very attentive. I like the atmosphere in The Eatery because it is kind of rustic. They also have a nice patio that faces Farwell.

My girl firends and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. I would give this place a 2.5 if I could. Service — the place wasn’t completely packed but had a reasonable amount of customers. It took quite a few minutes for our waitress to come around an take our drink orders. I also had to fetch my own sugar packets for my coffee. Food — the food is definitely below average. My friend and I both got an eggs benedict dish and swapped through the middle. she got the duck sausage benedict and I got the pulled pork. The duck sausage over powered the flavor of the eggs and hollandaise sauce. It was also quite spicy. The pickled element didn’t go well with the dish either. I did, however, like my pulled pork eggs benedict. The pork was very tender. Coffee — I got a cappuccino and it was horrible. At least it was hot. The coffee they used didn’t have a good flavor, but luckily they brought me a side of cinnamon to add some flavor.

Oh, dear. How to start my amended review for my third, and final, experience at The Eatery? We went for brunch, willing to give it another go after reviews have really improved. We walked in and stood at the hostess stand as the hostess and another employee continued to talk. Waited. When they finished their conversation, the hostess finally looked up and greeted us. Not a good first impression. Ou server, Endromite(??) was pleasant and pretty attentive. There was complementary bread and nice homemade jam. The menu has a definite American dinner theme(not diner, dinner like steak, spaghetti, etc). I ordered the pancakes. Boyfriend ordered a steak and eggs dish. The absolute worst pancakes I have ever had in my life. And I’ve eaten in dining halls, a horrible little place called Lasure’s, and a Waffle House. The texture was that of chewing gum. I alerted the server who agreed to take them back. I thought they were undercooked. The new ones came out a little charred. The inside? Less cooked and gummier. I kid you not, chewing gum. What’s perhaps worse was the taste. A horrific acidity. The server told me they add lemon juice. This is a terrible idea. I cannot stress to you how bad these pancakes are. After trying to eat a few bites, I had to give up. They did take them off the bill. I did get a bagel instead and was far less than impressed with the quality. Boyfriend said his dish was fine, but agreed that my pancakes tasted horrible. I did get my money back, but I can’t get my memory erased.

Maybe for the selection available this place is considered good, but I found few things to be taken with. On the positive side the patio is nice, the service is decent, they had a good drink list and ummmm maybe something else if I thought really hard. Despite the short list of their not so impressive accomplishments the food isn’t good. The boyfriend made the mistake of ordering the french toast with duck sausage on the side. I couldn’t even hold in my laughter and laughed the moment the waitress put it in front of him. The french toast resembled clobs of dirt. It was some overly caramelized monstrous the looked like it should eat you as opposed to vice versa. He tried a bite, pushed it around his plate for an hour, and didn’t want to dishonor a homeless with this dish so quickly threw it out. The sausage side was laughable small. It looked like a sample you would get before paying 2.95 for it. On to my mediocre food. I got a burger as I was feeling more lunch than brunch. After saturating it in ketchup the meat had enough flavor for me to choke it down. Our waitress though nice and bubbly in her pajama pants, which they are allowed(to my dismay) to wear on the weekends, was overly attentive to the point of being annoying. With all that said I left hungry but with a good laugh. I will be happy to never eat here again.
