Jesus Christo! Is there some sensor in my car that alerts the train crossing at 68th and State street in Wauwatosa to my presence? Every stinking time I cross here, and especially when I’m in a hurry, I get halted by a train. Not just any train, but a train carrying the GDP of the state of Michigan in one load. And if that’s not bad enough, there’s usually another one right behind it loaded with crude oil or iron ore. It’s amazing to realize how much freight is carried by rail, way more than any other form of cartage. But why does it all have to come through here every time I’m crossing? 68th and State has been the site of a car accident with a train and a teenager struck while crossing the tracks. How does this happen? I assume Darwin would have something to say about it. If you’re a train buff, then by all means, camp out here; lots to observe. If you need to pass through the village quickly, then you might want to consider an alternate route.

Bring lots of pennies to flatten & download the flashlight app to help find them at night. Q: What do you call a train man who steps on a live 3rd rail? A conductor! Q: Who adds grease to train axle journals in Wisconsin? A Green Bay Packer! Q: Why do railroads call those signs that protect vehicle traffic«cross bucks»? Because if they didn’t have ‘em someone would be spending lotsa bucks on crosses. Here’s my train, got to go! ‘Cause everyone’s jumping everybody else’s train…(The Cure’s Jumping Someone Else’s Train)

«Dinah won’t you blow? Dinah won’t you blow? Dinah won’t you blooooow your horn hornnnn.» After a few passes its hardly noticeable tank fire and machine guns blend in to the droning roar of the train. It is often considered mobile art as the street taggers are quite creative with a shake can. Many times the engineer will wave back as they are constantly looking out for other traffic and wildlife. This particular train is not usually filled with passengers however if the precious cargo is loaded fully. The passengers are welcome to ride on the outside of the train, see pictures. Whilst traveling by train you can see the beautiful views of Wisconsin. See additional pics.
