I love the customer service here; the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Every time I stop by, someone asks if they can help me find something or answer a question… if they can’t, they ask a team member. I appreciate their efforts to really help me out, even if the store doesn’t carry what I need. The prices are maybe $ 1 or $ 2 higher than Home Depot or Menards, but I would expect that from any smaller hardware place trying to stock a wide variety of items. I think it’s worth the price to go somewhere in my neighborhood and be offered the great service they offer.

The store was nice, found what I came in for… but more to the point.” Old man, I know you are tired of people coming in your store asking for a deal… But you don’t have to share your racism with the rest of us!”

I would patronize this store more often but 2 issues keep me from liking it more: One, bike parking is an afterthought here. They have a cheap, free-floating rack that is impossible to lock a bike to securely. I asked them about it once, even informed the manager about the City’s cost share program for bike rack installation. The manager responded that bike parking would reduce their available space for cars(not true since the rack would be on the city sidewalk). I guess this shouldn’t surprise me as their business entrance is centered around their parking lot, not facing Lake Street as it would if they were embracing the community they’re in. Two, I always feel like I’m being watched closely here, with staff lingering around to the point of being bothersome. Clearly Frattalone’s is a product of their suburban upbringing, and I wish they would stay there.

I had the most amazing experience at this business. I needed to replace a mortise door knob spindle for my front door that was installed in 1925, and therefore irreplaceable due to its age and change in standards. The sales person took me to the little drawer, opened it up, and to my disbelief, I pulled out a $ 6 part that spared me a horror visit to Bauer Brothers or some other antique shop for an obscure part that I thought had disappeared decades ago. Seven Bucks, and my 1925 mortice lock works like new. P. S. Ben is a bitch, he’s a big bad bitch, he’s the biggest bitch in the whole wide world. I feel sorry for the cashier.

So I’ve been here a number of times since kyle and I moved to our new place, and purchased plenty, but today sealed the deal on us ever coming back here. Typically the people here are more than willing to help you find what you are looking for which is great, but we were grossly over charged for an item and finally got around to returning it today. So we walk in and the lady was super friendly as usual and understood that we needed to return the fire log, but when we started the return it rang up very different. $ 25 different. She asked if we had purchased a case which we hadn’t and decided to ask the associate who rang us up that was working. He looked right at us and said, «yeah, they had a box.» We were both already livid at this point so I was ready to tell her since she has the date and time to just check out the security tape to prove it. That little asshole didn’t even get in trouble for lying about our purchase after she verified the fact that he over charged us, and then the lie to cover himself. Needless to say, we painted our new place today and went to a big box store, Home Depot. Kyle, our roommate, and I will never patronize this place again. How unprofessional and sad that he wouldn’t just admit he made the mistake. Sure, we got our money back, but that’s not enough to take the sour taste out of my mind about this place. Im not swearing off shopping local, but will do so more wisely in the future if it will entail what we went through here… Im disappointed, scratch one local business off the list that can’t be trusted.

There is always some one stepping out from behind an isle or the front to assist you with what you need, helpful and knowledgeable in what they have to offer. They are the friendliest folks in the nieghborhood.
