If they improve the quality of their food, drop their prices, install acoustical treatment, and get new servers, this place might make it. First time here and one disappointment after another on a Friday night. I’m not kidding, but I thought this might be one of those places where the servers treat you like an annoyance for fun. Turns out they’re just bad at their job. Dear Server, If you’re cranky, I don’t want to know about it. At the very least, start off with, «I’m sorry, but it’s been a rough night. I’ll do my best to take care of you». Not the hardest job in the world. Not the easiest either. If the service career isn’t for you, leave it. I won’t go into detail, but just bad. My beer had a weird fruity/astringent taste to it. I’ve ordered many a Summit Saga and it’s never tasted like that. Was afraid to tell the server. Ordered the jalapeño corn fritters. You’re paying $ 1 a piece for 8 freshly fried donut holes. Tasty, but worth about $ 2. The salsa they serve with the chips is near tasteless. It is so spicy that even if it had taste, you couldn’t enjoy it. The Cuban was a hot mess. Literally so hot that I couldn’t eat it for 10 minutes. Not sure how they reheat the sandwich, but it’s burn-your-mouth hot. Maybe my mouth was just ultra sensitive from the salsa. The pork in the Cuban was either out of a can or reheated from what was cooked earlier this week. The water was good. So loud I had to read my girlfriends lips at times. I’m not a fan of really loud places. If you like loud restaurants, you’d like this place. There’s kind of a damaged roller derby B team vibe going on there with servers and some patrons. I’m going to stop right there. Don’t ask for clarification. I mean, I really get along with damaged roller derby B team types, but it seemed like they were content, but I was not, which made me wonder if damaged roller derby B team types have different standards than me when it comes to food and restaurant climate. The exit: There were two servers sitting on their robust bottoms by the door. They looked lazy, but maybe they were on break. Both looked up briefly and continued with their conversation without saying a thing as we walked out. A lasting impression indeed. The 2nd star is for the water and clean bathroom.

Stopped in for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Service was prompt and attentive. Loved the baseball-themed atmosphere. My wife had the salsa burger with fresh-cut fries. Very juicy and tons of flavor. The fries tastes like State Fair fries. Hand-cut with the skin on. I had Willy’s Rojo burrito with chips and salsa. The burrito was awesome. Spicy, but not too hot. Had an overall awesome experience. I would have given 5 stars but my $ 8 cocktail tasted like it hardly had any rum in it and the salsa was room temperature and a little watery. Other than that, I will definitely be back to try some more of the items from their expansive menu.

Great food. So-so service. Met the owner, who was a great guy. Lotta pride in his establishment. I’d hope his staff raises their game to match his. Portions were massive, prices were good. Great place to watch a game and have a brew and a bite… especially if the garage door walls that run one whole side of the room are open.

The burrito I ordered should have come with a disclaimer– hot oil may come gushing out all over your face when you take a bite, allow 20 minutes for your burrito to cool down and coagulate in order to avoid 2nd degree burns. So, yes, my burrito was extremely greasy… And almost inedible. I took it home, threw away the grease ladenned flour tortilla, and put the contents on a side of lettuce and fresh avocado. I will not be returning anytime soon.

Stopped here with the boo cause we wanted something super healthy. JK, we stopped here because I saw a picture of the mac and cheese burger on snap chat had to stop in to see what this place was all about. It’s a sports themed burger joint with a mix of Tex Mex items. There are a ton of really cool sounding items on the menu so we decided to go with the nachos(which actually should be called stacked tostadas cause those babies were huge), Peppers PB&J, The Rattler, fries, and tots. Probably not the healthiest choices but our bellies were happy after we left. «Nachos”-imagine t-bells mexican pizza but way better and fresher. These were giant corn tortillas deep fried fixed with onions, steak, guac, tomatoes, and possibly sour cream. I really liked these with Cholula. Peppers PB&J-I swear I will like anything if there’s peanut butter slathered on top of it. This burger was really juicy and tasted with the creamy peanut butter and sweet pepper jelly. The jelly isn’t overly«peppery», it’s more sweet than anything and is a great complement to all of the other flavors happening in the burger basket. I got my burger with tots which always make a good burger taste that much better. The boo was really feeling the pepper jelly, he ate it with everything. The Rattler-think Burger King’s Rodeo burger but way better and higher quality for multiple reasons. We didn’t really taste the Cholula that was in there but it was still flavorful. We got this one with fries, which appeared to be fresh cut. Overall, I’d say this is a great burger place, probably on the same level as Red Cow and The Bulldog. There’s a lot of parking available in the lot and plenty of street parking in case that thing ever fills up.

My first time at the restaurant and I love it! I sat at the bar and the bartender was very prompt and professional. I had the fajita burrito and the veggies were cooked just right and the steak tasted great! I got a side salad which had a nice mix of lettuce, tomatoes and crutons. I loved their choice for balsamic vinegarette. I told the waitress that if I lived or worked closer I would probably be there every other day because burritos and burgers are two of my favorite foods! She replied, «It’s heaven, isn’t it?» Yes it is indeed!

My wife and I stopped in on a whim because El Norteno(Mexican restaurant down the block) was closed. This former Super America has been converted into a pretty cool place in the winter, but it looks like a really great place for summer as the front is garage doors that open onto the patio. The service was great and our server was funny, helpful, and paid attention to when our drinks were running low — that’s big with me. The food… it was fine but not super. I had the Carolina burrito and, again it was fine. One thing about it though was the BBQ sauce. If you are going to call something the Carolina, one should be able to assume you know that Carolina BBQ sauce is not the standard red sauce. Carolina sauce is yellow for one and vinegary. This was run-of-the-mill red sauce, but still good. My wife had the veggie burrito with chicken — What? I know, she liked the fixin’s on the veggie burrito, but wanted chicken on it. Hers was good too, but… I can hardly say it… she thought it had too much chicken. Good problem to have! Now if I were the owner of a restaurant, I wouldn’t have my servers take their break, in uniform, in the dining area. I just think it’s poor form, but that is me and I got over it just after I noticed it. All in all a good dining experience, I don’t have any real complaints, but I can’t really rave about anything either. We may try to go back in the summer for the patio experience.

This place gets a big ol «meh» from me. Had brunch/lunch on Sunday around 1:00(we were given brunch menus, but upon ordering brunch items we were informed that they were no longer serving brunch). My friends and I wanted to try somewhere in Longfellow other than the Rail Station for once. After the meal, we collectively agreed we should have stuck with the always-solid Rail. It wasn’t busy, but we still had to wait quite a long time to get our food. We were seated at the table directly across from the kitchen, so we could see our meals sitting there in the window waiting for the server to pick them up for at least 10 minutes. By the time she delivered the food, everything was cold. My veggie burrito and fries were decent. Nothing spectacular, but satisfying enough to bust my significant hangover. However, everyone in our party of six agreed that for a place with«peppers» in the name that features Mexican-inspired dishes, there was not a lick of spice or heat to be found. There was no hot sauce on the table either. My boo said his«jammin juicy» burger was terrible — overcooked, dry and tasteless. Two friends ordered the pulled pork burrito, which was mainly refried beans and not much pork. It looked like some whack isht from Taco Bell. Overall I didn’t hate it, but don’t see any reason to return anytime soon. I imagine the patio is nice, and it looks like they’ve got some decent late night happy hour deals, so I might give it another go next summer.

Management is not customer oriented. I made my first visit to Peppers & Fries, due to the great reviews. We got off to a good start with the quesadillas which were very good. In fact, I made a point of mentioning to the Manager that they were the best I’d had. I guess I didn’t garner much love. At 10pm, he hands me my bill saying they’re closing up. Bear in mind that I’m watching the 3rd quarter of the NCAA football championship game which is tied at that moment… And Unilocal shows this place as a Sports Bar. Add to this that I’m enjoying the game by texting with my dad who is currently in Alabama — the team favored to win the game. So, as I’m handed the bill, I say: «Aren’t you open until midnight?». To which he responds: «Wellllll, this is how we do it… » It’s too slow to stay open. Insulting.

I leave nearby so I love to pop in. The staff is always friendly and I’ve rarely had to wait for a table. I usually hate sports bars but this doesn’t feel like the usual sports bar(except the excessive amount of TVs). It has sports memorabilia and a bullpen theme but I never feel annoyed at it. My fave burger is the Jammin’ Juicy: a juicy lucy with blue cheese and a sweet onion jelly. I know it sounds weird but it’s so good! I haven’t had a bad meal here yet!

Must-try in the Longfellow area right on East Lake. Retro feel with burgers, burritos and even hot dogs(haven’t tried them). Tried the bean and cheese burrito and it was simple, tasty, large and even appeared to have lower sodium than others. Nice touch.

Happy hour M-F 11 – 5. Can’t beat that. Blue cheese steak burrito– was spot on. Steak tasted great and it was unique. Their menu has a lot of good options so check it out before you go. I will for sure be back again soon.

Once again, I have to be the dissenter amongst my group of elite friends. I am not digging this place! I wanted to try someplace new and spend time with my BFF Terri on a patio since we had A+ weather today and, although I liked the patio and atmosphere, the food pretty much sucked. Our server was not the best… I had to ask every time for water refills which does not make me happy. Keep my glass full and I am a happy camper. The only item I would order again would be the Jalapeño Corn fritters. I really liked them but was not a fan of the honey. I need something different to dip these in. I would prefer like some avocado ranch or something… I get that cornbread and honey go together but for me, the plain honey just did not cut it. I ordered the Jalapeño burger with the cream cheese, I cant remember what it was called and it was average. The bun was not grilled enough and I thought it was really small. Maybe I am so used to Red Cow’s burgers but this burger tasted worse than the ones your grandma used to make at home in the frying pan… You know what I am talking about. The burger had that grey look to it. The fries were super soggy and I wish I had read the reviews before hand that noted this because I would have asked for them to be extra crispy. Make sure you ask for your fries to be CRISPY! I ate one and brought the rest home for Ci. She is a fry fiend and will eat fries in any form. My BFF ordered the peanut butter burger which I tasted and it was average as well… Nothing great and the bacon was WAY too raw for my taste! No way would have I eaten that bacon. She had the chips and salsa as her side and the salsa was good but the chips… OHHH the chips tasted old and stale. They might not have been old but they had an odd taste. I definitely will not be back. There are SO many places better than this.

The ambience is not my fave, and the music a little loud, but the food was fantastic. I had the street tacos(steak), recommended by our waiter. He told me he eats them four nights a week. I can understand why. My husband had Willys smothered burrito. Straight up meat, cheese, and beans. No veggies. They must have put it on the menu just for him. Decent beer list, full bar. Brunch menu looks yummy. We’ll be back!

This review is long overdue, as I’ve wafted back and forth on whether to give this place 3 or 4 stars. Finally settling on 4, as I think the food and atmosphere were good enough to warrant it, especially since I came fairly shortly after the restaurant opened and came at a very busy time(NCAA March Madness championship). The biggest knock against this joint is that it’s five minutes from Blue Door, and Blue Door does burgers, fries, tots, and beer better and cheaper. But Blue Door is a fairly legendary standard to go against, so I can’t hold that against a well-done neighborhood sports bar too much. And being a sports bar with legitimate food is definitely what Peppers and Fries excels at. I’d go so far as to say this might be the best place in the TC to actually watch a game if you want to eat at the same time. Decided to go with one of my favorite food combinations in existence… beer, tots, and a wheat beer. In this case, I went with the Peppers PB&J, tots with chipotle mayo, and a draft Bell’s Oberon. I absolutely adore peanut butter burgers and this one was one of the best I’ve had in the Cities(if Blue Door’s Jiffy is the quintessential 10, I’d give this an 8 and a half). Fresh(it was noticeable) beef patty, creamy peanut butter, a deliciously sweet/spicy pepper jam, sharp cheddar cheese, and a good amount of perfectly cooked bacon. Noms. My only complaint was that the burger could have used just a little bit more of the pepper jam. The flavor was there, and it was really good, but the burger would be better with a more balanced portion of it. The tots were a great compliment. Perfectly fried and delectable with the finger-licking(literally) good house-made chipotle mayo. Washing it all down with a great tasting Oberon was just icing on the cake. The restaurant was rocking with the championship going on. From what I could see, there were great angles from all of the tables to the TVs, and food and drinks were coming out a good clip. Heard a few mixed up orders, but that’s to be expected in the first few weeks of being open and handling the volume during the game. Overall, a top-notch sports restaurant(this deserves more praise than using the word«bar») experience. Between the food, a Wisconsin loss, and the friendly, neighborhood service, I would return, and most likely will to try one of their much-hyped burritos.

We came here in search of good burgers. And they were good. We got the bacon and bleu which was solid. It’d be nice to have the choice to get it with a pink center. We also got cheese curds. They were wonderful. Like flawless. The Willy’s Smothered burrito was«meh» and stuffed with filler rice, good flavor though. A good burrito should never have rice in it. That’s a sin in the southwest. The tots were delicious and the fries were seemingly fresh cut, hot, and perfectly salted. In short: I’ll come back and just have a burger and curds. Yum.

I wish I could try different kind of burgers every day but my stupid cholesterol is always in the way. Seriously, it needs to go away! So I haven’t had a burger in a while and this place seems to have a lot of good reviews, we decided to come here. We arrived on a Friday evening and it was 70% packed. The place is filled with Longfellow folks, age ranged from mid 20’s to 60 years old. I am one of them. The service was very prompt. We got helped right away and seated at a nice spot in the patio right by the door. Lol. Their menu have burgers, burritos and sandwiches. Great options. I looked at their menu for a while and decided on The Rattler filled with bacon, pepper jack and bbq sauce. I thought I was in heaven when I took the first bite. It was very good! My friend ordered The Mushroom and Swiss that was tasty as well. I had the tater tots and I thought it was ok. It is a good place to hang out with friends if you want burgers and fries.

If you are a wing-loving sir or madame, time to give this place a shot ASAP. Ever wonder why the wings you eat at some establishments are dry and chewy? Its because the establishment does not take the time to brine or blanche the wings. Then they get crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. P&F does a brine, and I believe with some apple cider vinegar. The result? Delicious. 11.95 gets you a heaping pile that goes great with a few Premos or Summits. Their dry rub is one of the best in the biz. Buffalo sauce is very good for what it is, and has a nice kick. As far as the other food goes, it looks good but the 2 times I’ve been I could only order wings since they are THAT good. The also have the new Jack Daniels Fire available. Go down, have Z the bartender pour you a beer, and enjoy some delicious fricking wings. *The owners are the same as Boca Chica in St. Paul, and the Boca Chica Taco House-go there!*

Well well well… I haven’t met a tatter tot that I don’t love… And after this experience… I still haven’t! I have to say WOW for the cheese sauce… It was impeccable. I would love to just drink this stuff. The sauce is the best in town for sure… Being a new place i would say they did pretty phenomenal. N, sheia –I Am sorry if I spelt your name wrong … She is one of the best servers I have ever had anywhere… She was nice, funny and she knew her menu… On top of that she was selling their brand! Can you believe that? A new restaurant and the server is helping them brand! Everything she described as «Our cheese sauce is made in house.» Our pork is made«in house.» Oh we make that chicken«in house.» She is a catch and made the experience all that more enjoyable. I ended up ordered tatter tots with a side of cheese sauce and a side of jalapeño jelly. The jelly was well… Jelly and I could not taste Jalapeños in it but it was still good. I think it could be better if they emulsified it and added a few more jalapeños for a kick. It would be easier to eat and could be a hit. Room to grow– That cheese cause could easily be sold with almost anything. Smothering a burrito– covering the nachos with both kinds of cheese– on top the tatter tots with shredded chicken and pork making tatter tot nachos– In a glass with a straw… Kidding. I expected the nachos to be more nacho than tostada but they were still good. I will be back. Nice job guys.
