Have you seen Making a Murderer? I grew up in Manitowoc County(Wisconsin) and if you are a fan of the show and want to maybe know what Manty is like, but you live in South MPLS, you should go to this place. It’s more or less like stepping across time and space and re-locating yourself in hick-ville small town Wisconsin bar. Even the people who eat there. Alternatively, are you a Trump supporter? I think this might be where Trump-ers go. It just has that NASCAR feel. I live just two blocks away. I thought this place was bigger inside and different but didn’t read the reviews before I went after church with my girlfriend for lunch on Sunday. We walked over and when you get past the door that has these massive weird locks on them, you step into«someone else’s bar.» That’s how it felt. Food was a little over-priced, my opinion. Girlfriend ordered breakfast(which we were surprised was served) and i ordered a California Burger but instead was given a regular cheeseburger. I didn’t send it back, as we were getting quite a few looks from the«regulars» and were even stared at strangely by the older lady and man who must run the joint. Maybe we were being glared at because we didn’t order beers? Neither the cheese curds nor the fried mushrooms had much taste. Fries? Dripping grease — no salt. Cheeseburger was okay, very very greasy, but i expected that. Then, i gave the lady my credit card without being given the bill. She ran my card and brought back the slip but said«you don’t need to sign anything.» Really? No line for writing in a tip? Are you too good for my charity or what? I did some quick math in my head, without ever seeing a bill to think if the tip might have been included. It wasn’t. So i felt stupid, so i went to the ATM and paid the 2.75 $$ fee and got $ 20 and then had to have her make change for me so i could leave a tip… Super awkward. The regulars were outside smoking when we left and said«have a nice day» — which was just creepy and weird. My girlfriend thinks this is a front for other goings on. Hmm.

The wings are amazing. Must try the Asian Zing. The wings were so huge that 3 people couldn’t finish 1 dozen. Great hidden secret.

The Cedar Inn is the girl next door. Maybe not the prettiest, maybe not the smartest… but damn, there’s just something about her. And yeah, there’s just something about the Cedar Inn. It could be… Walking distance away from home. Top 5 best wings in the TCs. Cheap beer. Friendly bartenders/servers. Out of market hockey games on. An eclectic clientele. Philosophical debates on buying cartons of cigarettes in ND, selling them in MN. Point/counterpoint on Steven Avery. Small children at a bar. A study in Midwestern dialect. You betcha. But mostly the top three. They offer three wing varieties(buffalo, Asian & dry). Give me all the buffalo.

This is the closest watering hole to my front door, so I’m not going to pretend there is a whiff of objectivity in this rambling. With that said, it’s a clean(ish) local bar with some decent bar eats, cold beer and enough TV’s for watching the game. People throw around the word dive bar all the time, and while I wouldn’t necessarily call the Cedar a dive, I can see why many do. It’s a no-frills neighborhood bar, with all the good and bad that come along with that. The beer selection consists of about 10 choices on tap, but it’s mostly different brands of light lager. They also have cheap wine and sake to try to make you forget they don’t have a full liquor license. While the bartenders might not have a lot of choices for you, they’re generally pretty friendly. The menu is a greatest hits of fried food and they handle such items deftly. As others have pointed out though, the wings are the gem of the menu. An order of six of these T-Rex sized wings usually ends up with leftovers for yours truly. They also have more choices of Heggie’s Pizza than I ever knew existed. All-in-all it’s a fine neighborhood spot, especially if in the mood for wings and a Premo or two to wash them down with.

If you’re looking for cold beer, delicious food, and a warm friendly atmosphere, this is the spot. The staff is very friendly and provided great service. This is a great local neighborhood watering hole. The head chef, Tim, makes a wonderful home cooked breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The food was great and the portions were huge. I will make sure to stop back in here next time I’m in the area.

More than I expected. The staff was very friendly. Clean bar with massive wings and good beer. Can’t say enough about how friendly the staff was.

It’s cheap, servers and cooks are friendly, it’s in my neighborhood and the wings are awesome!!! Highly recommend the«Sticky Asian» wings. They are huge whole chicken wings, so 6 is a lot! Perfect to split an order with a friend and wash down with a beer or two. Love coming here for the people watching too! Total locals crowd, complete lack of diversity(odd for this area). At night It’s somewhere between Comical and OMG that person is drunk! It’s a clean dive bar. Oxymoron, I know.

Just stopped in for a beer on a Sunday afternoon. Heads up, NOLIQUOR. The cheap prices definitely make up for it. Buck Hunter, video golf and pull tabs are all there. Great dive! Look forward to coming here for brunch someday!

Great little place to have a home cooked breakfast. The staff was super nice, and the portions were huge! We ate outside at the picnic tables because we had our daughter with us. the bad thing about that, is that is where all the people go to smoke. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but kind of yucky.

This is a solid, simple neighborhood bar: no bells and whistles needed. The place isn’t nearly dilapidated or dirty enough for me to call it a dive. I’ll have to go with the other review which more aptly describes it as an «old school bar» where the crowd tends be older as well. The happy hour is good and they have double shots of sake for $ 5.50, which seems out of place considering the locale, so of course I had to get that. I think the bartenders there have a totally different definition of what constitutes a ««shot» because what I got was a big red dixie cup filled pretty much halfway with sake. Add a pint of primo on the side and that’ll get you there. The wings looked delish too, but my tummy was already full of pupusa from next door.

this is my neighborhood dive and I love it! we live 2 blocks away and one of my fav things to do after work in the summer is grab the man and the dogs and walk over for pitches outside at the picnic tables. The beer is cheap and cold, the staff could not be more amazing, and the other patrons are always friendly and fun. they love our pups and always bring out water for them, and usually a treat or two. we love that they have the frozen core pitchers to keep the beer cold on hot days. the wings are delicious, and HUGE! none of those puny little one-bite wings here, these are the real deal chicken wings. dont often go inside, but hear the silver strike machine is good times!

I live in the neighborhood and have always had an appreciation for dive bars. I went in here on a whim to snag an Irish Car Bomb on St. Patrick’s Day with my husband, thinking it looked like the perfect dive to throw one back in. Only to find out they don’t have liquor. They do have wine, beer, and sake. Sake? Ok… I had a «Premium», whatever that is. It was $ 2.50, and it was in a legit frosted mug. Which was fun. Honestly, I want to love this place in a nasty sort of way, because the people working there were SO nice and it had that small town, Nascar loving feel. But I didn’t love it. And the entire place smelled like a public restroom. I have not eaten here though… and I may not.

I popped into the Cedar recently and had breakfast. I got some breakfast combo with hashbrowns O’Brien, topped with two over-easy eggs and some bacon and toast on the side. Considering I’d never been in here and had no idea what to expect, the Cedar Inn did pretty well for itself on the food tip. The servers were friendly and you could tell they were owners or longtime employees; refills were handled well. The amount of food you get is also extremely good for the money. Oh yeah, the Blood Mary I had was OK, nothing special. They make em with sake because it’s in the no-booze zone. It could’ve been heavier on the sake for my taste. I really hate the Nascar décor of this place and the video games and other monstrosities they have decorating the joint are somewhat hideous. But as a place to grab some food or a few beers I could definitely dig it. It looks like a dump from the outside and it’s definitely a dive but it has some charm.

Wanted to love this place so badly given I live right down the street. Every time I go there the beer is cheap and the wings are amazing, but I hate that they’ve gotten rid of the dart board(even though it didn’t work half the time) and replaced it with some spider man punching machine. Really? I’d love to see an old school bar with old school games that don’t involve pretending I’m a superhero. Also the place can be awkwardly quiet if no one is pumping money into the juke box.

Ok, this place is something straight out of TripeD!!! I met up with a few friends for beer, wings and shooting the s&%#. I had never been to this joint and had never heard of it; although, I was told stories about late night wings and shenanigans from the regulars. Right when you approach this place, you know it’s going to be a dive. When you walk in, your assumption is confirmed by the steel plated walls, random trinkets, random bar games and the drunk guy in the back by the digital music box; CLASSIC. I find a table for me and my buddies and was quickly told that the only thing to eat here were the wings, HANDSDOWN. Not knowing any better, I quickly nodded and gave my input of «buffalo style»; we ordered 21 wings(beers were of course already in hand). Now, these aren’t your wimpy little drum and wing; this place doesn’t mess around and they provide you the ENTIRE«wing/drum/the end piece that no one knows how to eat» wing. The 21 wings we ordered was a sight, being brought out on two massive trays with a heaping wad of celery sticks and a cereal bowl of blue cheese. The wings were made to order and were blazing HOT from the fryer oil, but smelled frick’in amazing. I grabbed one and quickly bite in, slightly scalding the top of my mouth in the process; not to mention the slight pain in my fingers from the hot oil. Talk about juicy, tender and FULL of buffalo sauce flavor. This dive does not screw around with the sauce and the way they cook their wings. If you haven’t been here before, stop by for the wings and a pitcher of cheap beer, you won’t regret it.

We thought, for the price, it’s a great neighborhood bar. The $ 8 pitchers are a great touch for local residents. Breakfast is cheap and not terribly greasy. The hashbrowns o’brien are fantastic. It’s dive-y, sure, but they’re very friendly to outsiders. Only downside? Oftentimes they don’t have more than one game on and they are always confused on which channel has the local game. Also, when paying with credit card, you need to tell them how much you want to tip up front.

Claudette is the shiz-nit! The best bartender! Go say hello! The Bowling Game and the Online Juke box make this a fun place/neighborhood bar. Its a different crowd, at different times of the day. Workers in the afternoon, bikers in the early evening, hipsters till close, a Fun place to hang cheaply.
