I just moved to the neighborhood and work from home and this is the closes coffee shop to my house. I went in on a Thursday afternoon and got a latte. It was very good! I decided to go back on Friday afternoon as I needed a little pick-me-up to finish the work day. I was immediately recognized by the man working as I had been there the previous day. I ordered just a plain espresso. It was excellent, it was not too bitter and just the right amount of citrus-y sour but smooth and creamy. I struck up a conversation with the owner, Mohammed, about the items in the pastry case. I had never had a sambusa before so I decided to get one. It was excellent and reminded me of an empanada but a spicier blend of beef and onions. I give 5 stars not because of the coffee or the food blowing my mind but because of the friendliness of the owner. I know I will be back. He made me feel like the regular that I am sure I will become. Side note: I have never been in at night but the place is hoppin whenever I walk by! Lots of Somali men playing dominoes and various games! Maybe I’ll join in one of these days…
