Almost gagged struggling to swallow the bite of salami pizza. Very greasy. Tried a bite of the pepperoni pizza and it was soggy. I won’t be going back there.

I have now had two poor experiences at the North Loop Minneapolis Black Sheep location. I have been eating at the Uptown location for many months and just recently moved closer to the North Loop location. The first time I ate at this location, I ordered a quarter Sicilian and was told it was the last one of the night. I grabbed a beer while I waited. After two beers and a half hour passed, I asked for an update… the bartender told me that the cook forgot about the pizza and it was burnt beyond salvage, but I was welcome to order something else. I didn’t feel like waiting another half hour so I left. The second poor experience occurred this last Wednesday, 5⁄18. I called to order a quarter Sicilian. The woman on the phone said that you were out, but suggested I try a calzone because they are«delicious and not well known.» I said great, I’ll take pepperoni and ham. I walked over to Black Sheep and grabbed a beer while I waited, and proceeded to the check-out counter when it was ready. My bill ended up being $ 40 including the beer from the bar. Now, I understand it is my fault for not asking the price of the calzone over the phone, however I’m not sure why when I had called to order a $ 9 pizza for one, she decided to sell me on a $ 30 calzone that feeds 3. The man who I’m assuming was the manager just shrugged at me when I politely tried to express my initial confusion and concern at the check out counter. He offered no apology or solution so I paid for the calzone and left. If I had known that this was not a one person meal at a similar price point to the quarter sicilian, I would have never ordered the calzone. Frankly, I should have only paid for the beer and left the calzone there. I had hoped that it would at least be a satisfying meal, considering the price I had paid for it, but I paid $ 30 for a pizza crust filled with ricotta cheese. While I am disappointed in the burning of the first pizza and the lackluster expensive calzone, my concern is more with the poor customer service from anyone that I have come in contact with at this location. Nobody seemed to be concerned with taking care of the customer. With so many restaurants in this area going above and beyond when it comes to customer service, take Red Cow or Spoon & Stable as examples, I don’t think I will be coming back to Black Sheep.

The Black Sheep Pizza location in the Whittier neighborhood is the best in terms of less of a wait time compared to the other Black Sheep locations. Why? It’s 2X the size of any of the other Black Sheep locations. Added bonus is to head over to Glam Doll Donuts afterwards for dessert.

Cold rainy Friday afternoon in May. Great local beers, waitstaff and pizza. Perhaps not the time to wear flannel and flip flops but if you are you are welcome here. Went with the chopped salad and a pizza. Crisp crust and tasty sauce. Our waiter Bryce took the time to give us tips on where to drink and eat for the rest of the week.

A-OK is right Unilocal. The pizza was really good. Lots of good parve options. I really didn’t like that i had to shell out my entire bat mitzvah savings!!! Holy cow! Are you kidding me? Oy vey. $ 9(with a generous tip) for 3 girls to share a pizza? If I wanted to throw my money away, I’d do it in the comfort of my own home! My mother can make better matzo soup for $ 1. This matzo soup was terrible! tasted like a pizza. hello???

Went in for the first time last week. The food was absolutely spectacular! If you love olives, I highly recommend the olive and garlic appetizer. Pizza was delicious. Nice small concentrated menu. Service was average, but didn’t matter because food was so great.

My boyfriend and I visited Black Sheep Pizza(I knew it was a must since I saw it on the Food Network) back in November. We visited the Nicollet Ave location based on online reviews. The location had a modern feel to it. It was a weekend night, but wasn’t overly packed, and we were greeted right away. We decided to order a half and half pizza. We got #7(which was featured on the Food Network) and #11(we added Fennel Sausage to this as well to add some more meat). The #7 is their most famous and talked about pizza. It has oyster mushroom, smoked mozzarella, rosemary & garlic. SOGOOD. The mushroom causes a little bit of a funny after taste, but trust me, aside from that, it’s perfect. So flavorful and scrumptious. I am not a vegetarian, but I am sure it is a favorite among vegetarians. The #11 half has persian beef, tomato, fetta & harissa. Once again, it was delightful. I’m not the biggest fan of tomatos, but it fit perfectly on this pizza. I really liked the persian beef as well as the fennel sausage. The funny thing was, they actually forgot to add the fennel sausage to our order, so they gave us an entire pizza for free due to their small mistake. We ended up getting the half and half pizza and an entire extra pizza. The waiter was courteous and apologized for their mistake. The entire meal ended up being below $ 20 and we got an extra pizza to take home! Well worth the experience.

Late night stop for some pizza. Always a good idea. I love all types of pizza. However, I haven’t found many neopolitan/wood fired/specialty pizzas around town that have really wowed me. Until now. I’m the biggest carnivore out there, and I love all types of toppings on my pizza. Today, my wife and I decided to keep it simple. Real simple. We ordered the cheese and sauce pizza. It has fresh oregano on it also. If you really want to see what kind of quality you are talking about in a pizza place, get just the plain cheese. We were so very impressed. Crust was excellent. Crispy and flavorful. A lot of times a specialty pizza like this will have very limp, darn near soggy crust. Not this one. Crisp throughout. Sauce flavor was excellent also. Very fresh tasting. Not overly complex. Good saltiness. Nice amount of cheese and also very flavorful cheese. Of course it’s not the amount of cheese of Savoy and the like, but was just the right amount for this type of pizza. I love a good char on my pizza, a nice well done pie. This definitely had that. My one criticism would be that we waited an extraordinarily long time from the time we ordered till the time they brought it. It was after the dinner rush and not busy at all. Yet we waited over a half hour for the pizza. Not very understandable when those things takes seconds to cook in the oven. Either way, I’m coming back and can’t wait to try some of the other pizzas.

I went to Black Sheep Pizza to help celebrate my sister in law’s birthday. We were with a group of about 8 ladies. The location is great — easy to find, ample parking — but we were there very early(5pm). The shop was super cool, industrial chic(I made that up). Our waitress was so good — she knew the beer menu very well and recommended a delicious IPA for me and my sis had an Oktoberfest brew. No complaints about the beer selection… fantastic. So, I’ve mentioned before, I can’t eat dairy. It makes me sick to my stomach — even in trace amounts. Therefore, pizza is not a great choice for me. Not unless they offer vegan cheese(soy)…and BSP does not have alternative cheese. I split a pizza with my vegan sister so we didn’t do any meat either — and what we were left with was a delicious crust with red sauce on it. It was so boring. I’m not holding this against BSP, because we should have ordered it with other toppings… but we saw this offered on the menu as is, and went for it. The next time I go back, and I will be back, I’m loading it up with veggies and meat. The crust was so good. I can only imagine how amazing it would be with real toppings!

Nice space. Service was great. Menu and selection is very good. The food itself is just ok I guess. I like the crust, the toppings were a bit salty. I thought it was a bit expensive for Sunday afternoon. No happy hour or specials.

Great pizzas and great location in Minneapolis on eat street. My boyfriend ordered the gluten free pizza(they charge 3 dollars extra and only offer it on the 12″ just so you know) and he enjoyed the GF crust. I ordered a 12″ cheese with crushed green olives. Very delicious. They somehow mixed up my order and brought out two of the same pizzas and the waiter didn’t bat an eye he simply offered to box up the extra for us at not additional charge. My daughter, who is six, ordered the regular cheese and loves it. Very good pizza. I’m a Punch pizza fan so although I enjoyed this pizza very much I do not feel it is better than Punch, however, since it’s close to where I live this is where I go for pizza when I want to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and the city.

I heard a lot of great things about this place… I was kind of disappointed. We had dinner on a Monday around 6pm. We sat right by the open window which was pretty awesome. The service was not friendly, but not rude. We had pizza, salad and grilled shrimp. The pizza was soggy and the grilled shrimp was more like microwaved shrimp with a bunch of oil. It was tasteless and soggy. The salad was the best part of the meal. I wouldn’t return unless I was starving and every place around it was closed.

I have been here twice now and loved it every time. My boo’s love for pizza is as strong as my love for tacos… and each other of course. We would go here every week but no one’s trying to undo all that work at the gym. The mushroom pizza is one of my faves with three different kinds you can’t go wrong. I love love love all of the vegetarian options and the Whittier location even has a grill for some extra appetizers. Whittier: 2, North Loop:1. I might also mention that this was the first date my love and I went on so it holds a special place in my heart. The north loop will always have that but Whittier is now my jam. Plus when you can drink all the beer or wine you want and take the bus home, it’s a win-win.

We have been to the one in St. Paul and now this one. The vibe here is a little more lively. We sat at the bar and had our favorite — meatball pizza. We also had the cheese pizza. That cheese pizza, while it may sound boring compared to some of the other unique pizzas they offer, don’t underestimate the cheese pizza. The egg plant dip is a perfect summer app to start things off. Robert, the bartender took care of us. He was amazing and fun. So many reasons to come back.

Oops, had to dump my old love, whose love was kinda shitty to my guts. You probably know that I’m with Black Sheep Pizza now. Love is in a thinner crust, with spontaneous air bubbles. The tomato sauce has the kick of a spunky boy. After trying 5 or 6 of the pizzas, I think two styles that I am sure will not become stale to my taste buds are 1) cheese and sauce, and 2) oyster mushroom /mozzarella /rosemary /garlic. A pizza place that can churn out a delicious basic cheese-and-sauce is a winner in my book. And thank god this joint replaced the always-empty upscale Asian fusion place that was on the corner last year. Everyday, I see that Black Sheep is packed with giant friend circles and families. All of these things make me love my neighborhood even more.

I came here on a Monday night with some family members and am now totally a fan of their pizza. The design of the restaurant is pretty humble, although the big windows overlooking 26th& Nicollet are nice. They have a cool bar; seems like it could be a fun neighborhood hangout. The parking is pretty lousy, as you’ll be used to if you go to any Eat Street establishment at suppertime. The menu is minimal, which I don’t consider a bad thing when a restaurant is good at what it does. And that is the case here; the crust is kinda semi-traditional, thinner and crackerier than what you normally consider«traditional crust». Something about that big, impressive coal-fired oven makes that crust just awesome. My ‘za was the one with meatballs, ricotta cheese, and garlic, and I loved the hell out of it. Everyone at the table got a different pizza and loved them as well. However, one of them had a sausage casing on it which wasn’t supposed to be there. It wasn’t that big a deal, but they still comped that pizza, because they’re nice people. My 12″ pizza was more than enough despite my gluttonous appetite. I’m super excited to eat the leftovers I brought home. I’m going back there as soon as I can.

We stopped in for drinks and an appetizer to hold us over before dinner. Big open restaurant with a cool layout– you can see into the kitchen where they make the dough and bake pizzas. It was pretty empty when we want it, so we sat along the window bay that can open up in summer months. We got the meat and cheese appetizer. It was decent– salami, prosciutto, olives, and a tiny bit of cheese. It was good, but for $ 12 not worth it again. Full bar. Great for dates, kids, or hangout time. If we are in the area again we’ll try the pizzas. It’s a fun atmosphere, and the server was around when we needed her, and not too pushy.

Red Bull Crashed Ice drew a crowd of over 140,000 people. So when the epic bout finished, Saint Paul’s pubs, breweries, and restos were just about impossible to get into. My brotha/PR partner and I decided that night to cross the river to chill at the new Black Sheep Pizza in Whittier. It was a Saturday night around 11 pm ish, and only about a quarter of the place was full.(Awesome for us.) We chilled at the bar and ordered some brews and shared a 12-inch pie.(They come in either 12 or 16 inch.) Regarding their pizza menu, there’s about a dozen with plenty of options for vegetarians.(Dita D – I’m looking at you. LOL!) My homie and I ordered the #5 with fennel sausage, hot salami, onion and cracked green olives. *#5: Amazing crispy crust, hearty salami, fennel sausage(that’s not overly fennel-y), and tasty veggies. Outstanding. My only suggestion is for Black Sheep to figure out how to have the toppings not slide off like Brittany Spear’s ex boyfriend/husband’s career. Regardless, it’s one of my favorite pizza joints.($ 13.25) *Service: Dude behind the bar was cool. No issues. *Décor: Hella sexy with that industrial vibe. *Beer selection: Solid, featuring a significant number of local brews. I loved my left-handed milk stout. I love Black Sheep, and I’m elated that one is now closer to my crib.

Welcome to the Neighborhood Black Sheep Pizza! Fresh, fast and yummy pizza with a spacious atmosphere. This 3rd location just opened up on the corner of 26th& Nicollet Ave right before the Christmas Holidays 2014. There is plenty of table and bar seating with all the pizza and salad combos you would normally find at their locations in MPLS&STP. 12″ pizza combos are well portioned and will easily feed 2 people with an appetizer like a chop or house salad. Tried the #5 with fennel sausage, hot salami, onion & cracked green olives. The crust was super thin and crispy. Sausage on the pizza was a bit too«fennely» for my taste, but my co-diner seemed to enjoy. Chop salad as an appetizer was perfect! Almost wish it came with a few slices of their homemade bread — you can order extra bread for $ 3.50. This location has plenty of space and is perfect for a larger group of people(unlike their other MPLS location). As they just opened, the décor is still a bit sparse and the bar isn’t as cozy as the bar next door at Eat Street Social. Parking can be tricky during a busy weekend night so expect a block or two walk. Can’t wait until they start delivery from this location!
