Could not love this place more. Bar tenders know their stuff. Great drinks, very reasonable prices. And the peacock ambiance is incredible. The bar itself with dark wood and mirrors is great. We tried a burger cuz we were loving the drinks and company and it was spectacular. Thick, juicy, came with good fries and Siracha aoli. Will be back.

Let’s start with the good… during Happy Hour their Moscow Mule’s are $ 4.50. Now to the not so good… A large group of us stopped in on a Saturday evening around 5:30. We were aware that we were too large to accommodate all at one table and asked if we could just grab drinks in their bar area. We bustled up to the bar only to be stared at by servers and bartenders like«what are they doing». I had never dined here before and quickly figured out this was not the type of place where people order drinks from the bar and stand around and socialize. Finally a bartender started making drinks for us and everyone was happy. We planned on not staying long, but then a table popped up for a few of us to eat dinner at. We sat… and we sat… and we sat. Finally our server arrived asking about drinks and we had to ask for their dinner menu. He clearly assumed since we sat down after getting drinks at the bar that that was all we were there for. We were starving so we quickly decided on some plates to share. 15 minutes at least go by. Finally we put our orders in. The food wait was not too bad for a busy Saturday. The flatbread and poutine that a friend and I split was delicious! The featured flatbread had kielbasa and kale. It was the perfect amount of food to fill us up. Our server was very rarely around when we needed him, we did of course receive our bills quickly. Observing the bar and dining area it became apparent they were very under staffed for a busy Saturday night. Only two bartenders working that I could see and one server running around the whole bar. Even the manager(I am assuming) who was seating guests seemed flustered and unorganized. Not too sure I will try this place again… their food was kick ass but their service was. well…suck ass.

This is a solid bar. The cocktails are strong but not great, which is better than the alternative. There’s always good beer on tap.

This was a pretty fun place that we visited for a cocktail before a show at the Ritz. Everything screams peacock — the giant peacock gracing the mantel, the peacock feathers throughout, the peacock colored walls. So why not take it a step further and make it a «flapper-ish» drink list with well made, old school martinis, old fashionds, etc. But, for beer and wine lovers, a moderately priced list of craft taps and well prices wine by the glass and bottle. The lounge is basically the bar for Erte — which looks like a cool space with good food… for a future visit.

The peacock lamps on the bar need to be in my future home. Dibs. The Peacock Lounge is one of the those bars that just is what it is. They aren’t trying to be anything trendy, but they have everything you need. It’s gorgeous inside, but, again, not trying too hard. It just looks like a beautiful, Art Deco-y building that’s been there forever and hasn’t changed with passing fads. It just let trends circle back on their own time. Their drink list is decent, but not«crafty» if that makes sense. A dirty martini feels like the right thing to order here, but they also have a few local beers on tap. They close a little bit earlier than the average bar, but it is a great option for an early nightcap, as Rachel G suggested. Anyway, I’ll keep it short. I feel like this bar doesn’t get enough play in the Northeast scene, but it really should.

I asked the bartender for a Bloody Mary and asked her if they were any good, she was honest and said that they used to mix their own but discontinued it and use a certain mix that was store bought. I asked her what she suggested and she pointed me to the martini section. I like dirty martinis but I am very picky so I was skeptical, but I tried the Dirty Bird Martini since she recommended it. It was one of the BEST I have tried and the olives where top of the line, not your typical olive these make your mouth water for more. Love this martini Thank You!

I was visiting the Twin cities and was taken here by friends. It was an absolute pleasure! I had a NY strip which was tender and cooked exactly as I asked medium rare. Would definitely order this steak again. The salad was simple but fresh. I ordered their version twice baked potato. Had a nice texture and good taste but not outstanding. The atmosphere was pleasant. One large dining area with a side room for larger groups. Did not drink at the bar but it liked appealing. Will definitely return if back in the area and try the bar before for a drink.

5 April 2013: hubby & I decided to go to Erte — our first time — to celebrate our son’s 39th birthday even though said son is in CA. We arrived just before 6PM. The place was packed! Both the bar & the dining room! The maitre’d found us one spot at the bar. We ordered drinks & before those were served, the person next to me was paying his bill & slid off his bar stool, blocking any other standees so hubby could slide in. Classy guy. I had a French Martini: raspberry vodka, Chambord & a splash of pineapple juice, shaken. Totally divine. Hubby ordered the Rusty Politician. I don’t recall what is in that, but it was good. Watching the bartenders is always a treat for me. And they were all attentive to their patrons. The maitre’d offered to seat us at a table in the dining room but we elected to stay at the bar. I had butternut squash soup for an appetizer & ordered the porketta with a half side of the gingered carrots. The porketta was good as were the smushed potatoes. The carrots were OK but cannot stand up to my daughter’s whiskey glazed gingered carrots. Hubby had a salad & ordered the brisket which also came with the potatoes. The baguette & olives were a good starter. We each also had a glass of wine with dinner. Yes, it was loud but we had no trouble conversing with each other. Talking with anyone else at the bar was more difficult, but still possible if one doesn’t mind leaning in to another person’s space in order to hear. Even though it was very busy we never felt pressured to give up our bar seats quickly. Next time we will make reservations. The place was standing room only when we left at 7:30PM. And we had left overs!

Peacock gets my vote for BESTDIRTYMARTINI in the twin cities(well so far at least)!. Classy place. Great neighborhood. Attached restaurant(Erte) for yummy food. Will review separately.

Love, love, love this spot. It’s one of those places that while you’re there, you’re wondering to yourself and aloud, «why don’t I/we come here more often?». Connected to Erte right on the corner of what’s happening in NE, the spot’s interior is spacious but not overwhelming. The high ceilings and expansive bar length somehow still remain inviting, perhaps thru the use of all the dark colors. Still, it remains a class act. And their happy hour is off the charts.

This review is all bar based. The peacock lounge is a delight inside. It has a European feel to it. There is even a coat rack. I absolutely love a coat rack at a bar or restaurant. It adds a touch of class and it is necessary in the winter. We must have been there during happy hour. I am only assuming that it had to have been happy hour– because between 9 of us(two drinks each) — our bill was only $ 25.

This is a review of the bar, and not the food from Erte. My mom and I usually hit up the Peacock Lounge before catching Ballet of the Dolls shows at The Ritz Theatre down the block. However, I can’t comment on many of their drinks because we can’t help but order the almond joys every time! Although one time we brought my bf with and he ordered a manhattan, which he enjoyed. We love the deeeeelicious almond joys, with their rims covered in chocolate, and they are surprisingly strong for being so tasty. The space itself is great, with feux marble walls and funky peacock lamps. It can get busy, but we’ve never had a problem finding somewhere to sit.

Great place for upscale, yet comfortable. I guess that is what you’d expect in NE going«fancy» huh? Excellent happy hour!!! I have to agree that the service is sometimes a bit on the slow side. Excellent apps and drinks!

Before I went gluten-free, this was a weekly hang out for my friends and I. I cannot recommend their beet salad highly enough. Bits of goat cheese… making my mouth water even as I write. Fun atmosphere tucked way in NE Mpls.

When I go out, I’m a hopper. I like to do a pre-dinner drink somewhere, then go somewhere else and have a 2 hour meal, then go to my usual haunts for a nightcap. The Peacock is a great place to either start or end your night. Lots of beer and a pretty good wine list. Great Martini’s(l like the DIrty Bird). But for something special look at their«on the rocks menu».

The number of Unilocal reviews I’ve been writing has dropped exponentially. It’s not that I haven’t been going out, it’s just that I haven’t been trying a lot of new places. Everytime I look at my Unilocal page, I’m wracked with guilt for not writing more frequently. Yet the other night, I had occasion to write about a new place! Saturday night, around 8PM. We had wanted to go to The Anchor, but it was jam-packed. We weren’t looking to go home, but at least catch a drink/nosh somewhere nearby. «Hey, look — Peacock Lounge looks not too crazy.» And so we went. Beautiful, classic décor. The room had a nice, relaxed feel to it and was buzzing, but not too loud. Service was prompt and friendly(a plus). The tap list was short, but nicely thought out and had a couple stand-outs from your usual«boring American beer-Stella Artois-Summit-Surly-Newcastle» line up, including a new release by Widmer’s. So we ordered a couple tall beers — and they were indeed tall! And a bargain at $ 6. We ordered the beef brisket sliders — after much deliberation on whether to try out Erte’s full menu(not badly priced and based on other people’s reactions to the food they were getting, quite tasty). The sliders were obviously homemade, with chewy and flavorful brisket in a tangy, sweet sauce. They were accompanied by a vaguely horseradish-y crème fraîche and house-made pickles. Yum! I’ll for sure be going back, if only to investigate this food situation further…

Really terrific dirty martinis. A good place to begin an evening out. It’s also kind of a pretty, historic space. And relatively quiet. Never too crowded. It’s a good place for a cocktail or two before dinner.

Relaxed atmosphere, decent apps, and access to Erte’s menu. A good place to start the night.
