Have heard so much about this place and finally stopped in. Garlic Cheese Bread was possibly the best I’ve ever had! Ordered Savoy House Special. Both were great! Server was excellent. Parking is usual Uptown hassle. And I loved jamming out to an exquisite selection of Led Zeppelin while enjoying some great old school pizza! In interesting mix of people…

I ordered delivery and was quite surprised on the taste of their food. Today’s order was(2) Hot sandwiches, the Philly Steak and Cheese and Kracker’s Steak & Egg. To my surprise, these options are amazing and way surpassed Jimmy johns or Milio’s around the same cost. The Philly with provolone was amazing and tangy, this is not bland at all as i thought it would be. It has all the things you think it will have other than tomatoes and Lettuce. I was skeptical about that, but it paired so well with the the other ingredients and was a great sandwich for a pizza joint. The Kracker with tons of meat and a egg on top was to die for(all I have to say). This definitely will be a spot for lunch or a midnight snack! I have not tried there pizza yet, but Im sure the quality is there.

I like Savoy Uptown. Place hasn’t changed much since Galooneys, and I was a loyal customer. Glad they kept some classics: philly and beef N cheddar; fancy lad on the cold side. The pie is solid too, but it diverted from NY style to St Paul cut-in-squares style… nothing wrong with that, just saying… Delivery is prompt service is good. If visiting Uptown, say hi to Donny… tell him Action D sent you! Enjoy!

Red’s Savoy in Uptown is always good pizza. I have never had a complaint. This evening, my husband and I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and the delivery person came to our door and dropped it off. Once he was gone, we opened the box and noticed that is was cheese only. Since we had our hear set on sausage and pepperoni, we called them. Surprisingly they redelivered the correct pizza in less than time than the original. The delivery person was a pleasure to work with as well. They made it right and with a smile. I can’t say enough good things.

I live west of the cities and it has been years sinceI had a pizza at Savoy’s. Name change But still great pizza and better staff than before. Brought my brother who had never tried it before and he loves it. He told his wife and now he had to bring her a personal pizza back. Next time in Mpls. I will be stopping by again.

Behold the prescience of Unilocal!3.5 stars for a pizza place in Uptown is suspiciously low. I mean it’s pizza. How can you screw that up right? Folks, here is how… 1) Have a guy who answers the phone who sounds like he gives not one single f##k. Yes, he sounds like it’s his last day after working the past 99 years straight. 2) Deliver the pizza really slowly. Like even though it’s only about 3 blocks aways on an off-hour, take like almost 90 minutes to deliver the za. That’s perfect. 3) The delivery guy who clearly doesn’t give one f##k either. Was he also the one answering the phone? We do not know. 4) Mediocre pizza. One of the ingredients tasted«off» to me. I think the mushrooms. The cheese sticks were just OK. 5) Afterward realize why you need to stick to Galactic Pizza or Pizza Luce, or maybe Soho. The Unilocal reviews are correct people! Sorry Red’s. You need to step up your game, or maybe just become some place else completely.

Got a good price on two pizzas for happy hour, unfortunately they were almost inedible. There was literally so much melted cheese on it, that you couldn’t even see the ingredients in the center! Extra cheese does not equal extra tasty! When we tried to let the MOD know about it, he was quick to say«maybe the pizzas we had in the past didn’t have enough cheese, but these were right!» Did NOTHING to try and win us back! Too bad! Our whole group won’t try you again, and we will be sure to tell others of our experience

Ok. So I do miss the old Galooney’s. So I might have had a unique experience here but tonight really set in motion a faithful follower. I would order from Red’s in the past and have at least a decent experience. I have been out of town for 3 years. Coming back I am checking on my old favorites. These guys are still on top of their game. Over what should of been a dinner rush time the guy who took my order was polite and accommodating. Delivery was 15min earlier than quoted albeit I don’t live far from them. Food was hot, fresh and spot on to my order. Delivery driver was great too. I like it when the delivery guy is friendly and professional. Only note guys. Please put in plasticware and napkins. Otherwise keep up the good work and see you next time

I went here for the first time on Friday at the suggestion of a friend. The waitress was very courteous and pleasant. I will admit that I was feeling rushed but after my friend told me that the pizza was pretty good I relaxed a little bit. The pizza came and it was very good. I suggest using a fork because they pile on the toppings and they were delicious. The crust was thin and crispy which is how I love pizza crusts. It was very filling. There were two of us and a regular seemed to be just fine with a little left over. I really enjoyed it and would happily go back again. The lighting was a little dim but I really did enjoy the atmosphere. Not the very best pizza I have had but was very good and would go again without thinking about it.

Words that come to mind when I think of Red’s Savoy: gooey, yummy, melty, dripping… get in my mouth. I went to RS on a whim when my friends decided to divide and conquer on dinner in Uptown. I split a large reasonably price pizza topped with sausage, pepperoni and onions with a friend. The sausages were practically mini meatballs, which I loved! This was the most amazing pizza I’ve had in a while, granted I only eat Punch Pizza now, so this change up was a blessing. I typically complain about 2 things, 1. not enough cheese, I would order extra cheese to get over this issue, and 2. the amount of sauce, usually it’s the lack of or general dryness of the pizza that upsets me. This was perfect, a delicious layer of rich sauce under the heaping blanket of thick cheese. And RS is open until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Hellllloooo new drunk food stop!

This place is just trash. Tried it last night, for $ 10 I got a 10″ one topping pizza. No sauce. At all. Just greasy cheese and chewy chicken. It was not good at all, even to my slightly buzzed and starving taste buds. I mean, it’s not little Caesar’s bad, but I definitely know I won’t ever eat here again. 1 extra star for how nice all the employees were.

Awesome pizza. I wanted to review the one in Edina, but there’s not a page here on Unilocal for the new location. They’re at about 76th street by Pentagon Park. The pizza tastes like what I remember from my youth growing up in Chicago. Dense thin crust, lots of cheese, salty, and not too saucy. The cheese is chewy, too. Thank God these people arrived. I was so desperate for good pizza I considered opening my own restaurant. Now I don’t have to do that.

It was about 10 degrees outside as my buddy and I waited for the bus to take us a mile to Uptown from Downtown Minneapolis. I have been by Savoy a million times in my life and I always wanted to try it. I love the outside«Neighborhood» look to it. A typical corner looking pizza joint. My friend came here monthly up until a couple of months ago when he moved from uptown, but he used to live a block away from Red’s. He says it is the best! We were greeted by the guy behind the counter and we sat in a booth towards the back. They have an extensive menu and my friend ordered the house special pizza and I got the chicken Philly Cheese steak. While our chef cooked, I noticed they had a large assortment of craft beers in their fridge. A plus. I sipped on my often refilled Diet Pepsi, I prefer Coke, but OK. The pizza and hoagie came out about 10 minutes later and looked amazing! The sandwich was HUGE! It was dripping with cheese whiz, which I chose over provolone. LOTS of chicken hunks, I love watching the cooks prepare the meat on Phillies with the quick chopping. I have had about 10 chicken Phillies before, and this was by far the best. The bread was crusty, yet soft inside. The chicken was succulent with lots of sauce drizzling everywhere. There is no way I needed to finish off the whole thing, but I had plans after work and I didn’t want to have to bring the rest home. Just an amazing sandwich. My buddy said Savoy had the best pizza in the cities, so he let me try a piece. A ton of cheese on lots of quality ingredients. The crust was just the right amount of char. The sausage was plentiful and juicy. I agree, it is at least top five pizza in the city. The service was awesome here, my soda was refilled 4 times. My bill was 12 bucks after tip and that included soda. Along with Old Chicago, I think this is my favorite pizza joint in the city!

Red’s Savoy Pizza is one of those Twin Cities institutions that I think rests on its laurels quite a bit and operates based on its reputation. It’s thin-crust pizza cut into squares. I don’t know why the square part bothers me so much, but it does. It’s just the wrong way to do things, but maybe(likely) I am just stubborn. The pizza is fairly good, it’s super cheesy and this means likely greasy just given the ratio of gooey cheese to everything else. I’m also pretty sure that the cook who made my pizza was drunk. Which, ya know, I actually am not holding against you at ALL, Red’s Savoy. The square cuts, though. No.

If one happens to drunkenly stumble into Red Savoy’s between 12 — 2am, most likely one will hear«Jock Jams»(the collection of various 90s radio anthems) blaring through the speakers. While I’m usually quick to immediately rate a restaurant five stars because of Jock Jams(which never happens), I found the pizza to be alright. Yes, I do appreciate the shovel of cheese I get, and the thin crust has a wonderful crunch when I rip my teeth through a slice; however, I do not appreciate burned crust pizza. This is an absolute no-no, especially when there are so many remarkable pizza places in Upteezy alone. If Red Savoy could fix this problem, I will continue eating here. For now though, I will satisfy my pizza cravings elsewhere.

Grabbed a take-out pizza from this place after passing it a gazillion times and I’m glad I did. While the boyfriend and I will pick Neapolitan pizza over any another kind of pizza a majority of the time it’s always nice to have a down to earth pie once in a while. As another reviewer already pointed out their sauce is rich and spicy, a definite winner. I also loved the square cut(something we never encountered till moving here) and how they did not skimp on the toppings. Put that all together with a friendly staff and a short wait till my pizza was done makes me a new fan of Red’s.

‘Tis a rare occasion that I write a brief review. Red’s Savoy is just enough of a doo doo manufacturer to merit such brevity. Congratulations on winning the food equivalent of a Razzie: you’ve prepared and delivered what ranks as the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. Which includes every overcooked and undercooked Jack’s, Totino’s, and Tombstone frozen pizza I’ve stuffed into my face in a state of drunken madness. The box it came in was soaked through with grease. SOAKEDTHROUGH! Once I opened it, I felt some kinship with Pandora… Oh, the unprecedented horror! How high do your employees have to be to come up with something like this? As Kelis would scream: I HATEYOUSOMUCHRIGHTNOW! *side eye while tossing ¾ of this greasy mud-pie in the garbage*

We decided to try this location of Red’s even though we tend to go to the one on 7th Street instead. The pizza was good — still covered in ooey gooey cheese, still with tasty toppings. But I have to say I feel like it was kind of lacking … something. I don’t know if it’s that the St. Paul location has ovens that have been seasoned over the years, or whether(as my husband said), they just cook it longer till it’s almost burnt at the other store, but there was something just slightly different about this store. It WAS, however, still pretty tasty. But we did definitely feel like it wasn’t quite the same. Other notes: –We got the Italian salad and it was very good. Some nicely grilled garlic bread pieces and a nice fresh salad. –We only ordered the salad because the battered mushrooms we LOVE at the St. Paul store aren’t available here. –There’s patio seating, which is nice, and the indoor seating area is small but nice. We especially liked the art, which was largely comprised of concert posters from various local music venues. –Bottles only, but this location does serve beer. No pitchers or drafts like the St. Paul store. –Our service provided by Sarah, according to my receipt, was outstanding. First, she repeated our order back to us to make sure she had it right — something I wish all servers would do and something that very few actually do. She accommodated us in every single way and was attentive without being annoying. She was patient when we chose to move from the patio to the inside seating when it started raining, she brought clean plates without having to be asked and she thought of every possible thing we would need before we had to ask. And, she gets props for joking about«mixing it up» when she gave us chilled Guinness glasses with our Bells beers. Three cheers for Sarah!

My parents are the numba one and two fans of the original St. Paul Savoy and so I grew up on the stuff. Even when my mom made pizza, it was square-cut, as if that would make it taste more like Savoy. I actually thought all pizza was square-cut until I earned my first Pizza Hut personal pan pizza during Book It! Earth-shattering(and delicious) for a seven-year-old, but I digress. I’ve never actually been inside this establishment. Not when it was Golooney’s, and not now. I always draw the long straw and my boyfriend goes and picks it up or we order delivery. Come to think of it, I’ve never been inside the St. Paul one either. This greasy, ‘Merican-style pizza is alright in my book, especially because the cheese is loaded on with a shovel — always bubbled and browned. It’s not the best pizza in the whole wide world and it’s not exactly the same as the original, but it’s totally growing on me every time we order it. The sauce is nice and tangy and the price is pretty reasonable for the amount of food you get($ 20 for a large special pizza with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and green olives). They also have hot and cold sandwiches like Philly cheesesteak and muffaletta subs for under $ 7(the sandwich menu looks good, so I’ll have to try one sometime). Plus, Savoy is open late, and that is important to me because I am a hungry, hungry nocturnal hippo.
