Upon entering you’ll instantly be greeted by the scent of Something I’m reluctant to put into words. 30 seconds later… Your immune to it. This is a Gr8 Dive on Eat Street. The drinks are poured, you start sipping away and b4 you know it. Your worries are gone. Lol. Seriously. For HH. THEDRINKSAREBOMB! This is our 2nd visit to the local favorite. The food menu isn’t loaded with too many selections to ponder over and have your server ping pong every 3 minutes to see if your decided or not. So what I’m saying is this. Simple menu with a gr8 American selection that’s priced just right for the persons on a budget or just looking for a good deal. I had the grilled buffalo chic Samich topped with lettuce onion & tomato along with house made chips. The chicken isn’t a huge breast fillet and the chips are a bit salty but tasty. If your on a sodium diet. Stay clear of the chips. Soup special was a shredded Indian curry chicken with flat pita bread yummy. They have a cpl of soup options to choose from. If your ever in the area I recommend this place to non snooty everyday people.

Awesome food, we had fish and chips and chicken strips. Great service low prices. In Minneapolis for a week I might go back and get a burger!

The drinks are cheap, the food is priced reasonably, and the place isn’t ever too crowded. Which I like. They play a variety of sports games across several large displays throughout. They were forced to close for a day of two, a couple of months ago. I’m not sure why; nothing seems obviously wrong… Huge party room, too

I had to bring the server over to get service, then only 1 glass of water in 40 minute. We finally got a burger, which was ordered medium well, cane out almost raw in the middle. Sent it back, it came out a minute later, still pink, the cook just seared the side that we open. Still no apology. If there were an option for no stars, it would be selected.

Great burgers, good service, and when I couldn’t have the beer I ordered(the tube burst) the waitress brought me a sample of an amber I liked!

I come here regularly with roommates and friends due to it’s proximity to my home, but I choose it over other restaurants in the area because there is lots of seating, it’s a relaxing place that is comfortable for conversation but also just watching TV, and the prices are very reasonable. However, I do miss their specials which seem to have disappeared since the Super Bowl. The chicken tenders are the best chicken tenders in the area, especially for their price.

Fun place. I like going here to watch The Walking Dead. Dig the chalkboard tables and drink specials. They have a nice tap list, too. I haven’t tried the food as they don’t have much for vegetarian options, but my husband had a burger that he really enjoyed.

Ryan’s Pub is good for two things: watching sports and drinking beer. The food is ok. The staff is friendly. And you can draw on the tabletops with chalk. I love the laid back atmosphere of this place.

I like Ryan’s pub — in a city dominated by Cara Irish pubs(Local, Liffey, Cooper, Kieran’s etc) this is a unique spot that has an excellent tap list, a large space for eating and drinking, a pretty big back room that has Walking Dead night on Sundays. Everyone raved about the chicken tenders being awesome so I had to try… got a side of Hot Sauce. Delicious! Tender, lightly breaded, juicy. The only downer is the lack of free parking(thank you Minneapolis for metering every block in downtown :(even ones in up and coming areas.)

Stopped in here after being completely ignored by all staff next door at Market BBQ. Got some wings that tasted like buffalo wings. A waitress that got us what we wanted when we wanted it. Nice bar. A little warm.

Service is sometimes lacking, but food is awesome and CHEAP. Drinks are always very reasonable. It’s a nice place to go for conversation if you live in the area. They have board games and you can draw on the tables. I go there about twice a month.

I’m going with 3 stars because they show The Walking Dead on a big screen Sunday’s in their back room. Ordered the Wussy burger last week. Didn’t come with jalapenos, or fried onions as the menu states. Waitress assumed that the male at the table was going to pay for everything. Be prepared for obtrusive patrons, everyone looking at their phones every 30 seconds, spilling drinks and otherwise being rude and obnoxious. Serve your own glass of water and enjoy writing notes in the dust filled women’s restroom while you wait for your waitress to come back around.

Proper pours in proper pints had fantastic fish and chips. Now I am going to watch walking dead on a HD Projector.

Thank God for this place in the neighborhood. It’s a great place to watch a game, the décor and feel is a solid step above a «dive» or typical sports bar. The staff has always been great. The beer selection is better than you’d expect. And the food is bar food, but above-average bar food. The wings are always good.

Had one of those dining disasters you always read about on Unilocal yet never seem to run across yourself. Ordered 2 burgers, came 45 later, with a warning to make sure they were ok. There were in fact rare, and had them recooked by the manager herself. Apologies were given, and 1 burger was comped, so can’t complain too much. But obviously the place has a serious kitchen problem. Not that anyone ever goes to Ryan’s Pub for a serious gastronomic experience(Salsa a la Salsa 2 doors down is pretty darn good if you want some decent eats on this strip between Nicollet Mall and the freeway). It’s a sports bar, with a kind of dark and scratchy décor. The burgers were ok, could use better quality buns and more cheese. The chips and fries were very good. Normally I’d try a place a few times before giving a mediocre review, but this is just not my style of place so I’ll probably never return.

To be fair, we went during the second half of the USA vs. Germany World Cup match. That being said, it was ridiculously hot in the bar, and we waited about an hour and fifteen minutes for chicken strips and fries. For those of you that know soccer, that’s about forty-five minutes after the match ended and everyone left. Food was average once we got it. we were just upset we weren’t offered any kind of free drinks or discount after we complained about our CHICKENSTRIPS taking over an hour.

Meh. Wandered over here last night because I didn’t feel like cooking, and while the food was good, it certainly wasn’t memorable. Other Unilocalers have commented on this place being expensive, but I actually found the price to be just right. The chicken tender appetizer with fries was more than enough to be a meal for me – and only $ 7.95. I also can’t hate any place that has affordable(and generously poured) shots of Jameson, $ 5 here instead of the usual $ 7 or more I’m used to paying at other bars around the Twin Cities. Not sure I’ll be returning, but I left happily buzzed with a full tummy and didn’t have to mess with cooking dinner, so I was overall satisfied enough with this Ryan’s Pub.

I met friends here to watch the NBA All-star game recently. They have a lot of televisions, so no matter where you sit its pretty easy to see one. We noticed a huge tv in the back room, but they would not allowed to sit back there. Not sure why, but maybe that is for big games or fights. We sat next to a regular who goes in to get her daily mixed drinks. She told us they mix them strong, so 1 a day is enough! The food was typical bar bites, and burgers. We all had burgers, which came out just minutes after we ordered them. They were pretty good, but the fries/tots were the best. I don’t have much else to say about this place, other than I would watch sporting events here again. It seems to be a pretty chill place with some real characters and for that alone I would venture back!

If the Eat Street district was the Wu Tang Clan, then the area from Ping’s to just around the McDonald’s on 24th and Nicollet would be the Ol’ Dirty Bastard section. And within the Ol’ Dirty Bastard section, Ryan’s Pub would be «Brooklyn Zoo» and«Shimmy Ya» — grimy in the most wonderfully spontaneous and enjoyable way. The place is as incongruous and inexplicable as it gets: it isn’t quite a sports bar, a dive bar, or a neighborhood bar but it meshes elements of all three. Depending on the time or day you show up, you might run into internationals watching soccer, random convention attendees up from downtown, young black dudes, old white women, old school black men and women who look like they lived through all kinds of interesting times in this city, gay men and women… it’s unpredictable. I’ve been there about a dozen times over the past year, and some nights it’s bursting with energy, while others it’s a very sad place, full of lonely people who either left a life behind or never quite caught up to one. I’m absolutely in love with the bartenders, almost all of whom are women. Not because they’re the most beautiful women(though in their own ways, each one has a certain je nais se quois), but because nearly all of them seem like they’ve beat the shit out of someone who stepped out of line at some point. They can be polite, but they also have an edge — like how ODB saved a person from a burning car, but also showed up to a few Wu shows I went to high on crack, ranting and raving. The drinks aren’t super cheap, but they’re reasonable and the pours are better than some places I’ve been in the city for sure. Specials rotate each day, I think. Conversations run a wild gamut at the bar, and it’s worth taking a trip here just to get your eavesdropping on. Oh, oh, oh: CHICKENTENDERS here are se manifique! The best ones I’ve EVER had. TRYTHEM. Trust me. Overall the food is pretty damn good for pub chow. If you want beer then bring the ruckus, Ryan’s Pub ain’t nuthin to f***k with!

Boyfriend and I finally gave this place a try and were really happy with our experience! $ 10+tip for a martini and jack and coke. Played darts in the back room but beware-you have to keep count! The boards are not electronic. After a martini or two, the math becomes tricky. :) Anyway, we look forward to going back next time we need a cheap drink and greasy bar food fix. They also do breakfast which I can’t wait to try. Oh! And there are a bunch of board games you can rent out while you’re there. Operation, anyone?
