The outside smells a lot better than what the food taste. Total disappointment we are very excited come here will never ever be back

We stopped here after graduation around 9:30 p.m., and everything was delightful. Our waiter was courteous, helpful(got us a cab), and kept us full on drinks. The food was also delicious this evening.

So my fiancé & i went here to try it, big mistake. I was not impressed at all. coleslaw was pre packaged, she had pulled pork, I had chopped brisket. The brisket wasn’t too bad. We both ordered a hot link on the side, I was insulted for them trying to pass a Polish sausage off as a hot link, needless to say, I will not be returning here for B.B.Q.

the chicken and rips were both dry and not at all tender. I am not sure if it was because it was Sunday noon or if its usually that way. it was a fair amount of food but for $ 33 with a beer its not worth it.

Got their spiced wings. 6 for $ 9.54. That’s outrageous, and they didn’t even come with ranch or bleu cheese. The flavor was good, but it’s way too expensive for what it is.

Great! Got the fried chicken and it was absolutely fantastic! Corn bread was great as well! I’m not sure what direction they were attempting to go with the Collard Greens, but they really weren’t very good. Everything else was fantastic though! Can’t wait to order from here again! Had grub hub deliver so I was never actually at the restaurant so I’ll have to go in next time and update the review so that it covers the full scope of the business. Based on food alone though, I DEFINITELY suggest you get you some!

We hadn’t been to Market Bar-B-Que for about 20 years and had great memories of it. So, we decided to try it for lunch yesterday looking forward to some great barbecue. Mistake. The problems: 1. The restaurant was nearly empty but we waited a very long time for a server to come take our drink orders. Then she disappeared for another very long time before she came to take our orders. We never saw her again after dropping off our food until the check came. No refilling of drinks, no asking if we wanted dessert. Very odd. 2. We ordered the barbecued pulled pork plate. It was a small pile of room temperature pulled pork on two pieces of burnt and now soggy Wonder bread white toast. My mate’s toast wasn’t as burnt as mine, but still not pretty. The pork was completely bland and flavorless. Ugh. Hate that. At least the fries were hot. The coleslaw was blah. 3. The biggest surprise/disappointment was when the check came. The menu said that the pulled pork sandwich or plate(no bun essentially) was 10.95 at the bottom of the description. However, our bill was for just over $ 40. We questioned the server about it and she said that you have to look at the small print above the section to discover that getting the plate was $ 8 more, but you get twice the meat as the sandwich. Twice the meat? How small is that sandwich? The waitress must have assumed ill intent because she had the balls to say«Well, I can’t do anything. You’re still going to pay for it.» There was never any argument about paying for it. We were just confused as heck. So, things change over 20 years. This place used to be THE place for good barbecue. Not so anymore. Oh well. No need to go back.

I’m really sorry to have to do this(as they’ve been consistently decent prior to this last meal) but I had pretty much an unedible meal recently. I had a brisket and pulled pork combo. Both meats were slathered in way too much sauce and the meat itself was like rubber. I also had more toast than meat. For pushing $ 25 that is really unacceptable. I will say the saving grace was the collard greens. Flavor and texture were spot on. Previously the rib tips and cornbread have been pretty good as well! I want to reiterate that up until tonight it has been decent/good, but I was already on the edge and have now moved onto other bbq places. Hope they can make some changes!

Just not impressed. Brisket is really thinly sliced and more like roast beef than brisket. Meet doesn’t have much of a smoked flavor either. Service was fine. Atmosphere was good.

Incredibly inconsistent quality, one day I’ll have a ok meal the next time awful. At its best the BBQ is 2 out of 10

What a great staff! We had a large group outing(over 100 people), and the staff anticipated every need before we did. And the food was excellent. Plenty of it and it was tasty. Best part of all, it did not break the bank. Very affordable.

I know that not everyone has the same taste in BBQ. But if you are not into the fall of the bone stuff, that would be me, then you need to check out Market BBQ. They have the best slow cooked full slabs I have ever eaten. All sauce is on the side, use if you want. But these ribs taste so great just as they are. For me I have never had better. You owe it to your self to check them out. Love them!

I returned to Unilocal just to leave this review. I walked into the restaurant at 12:30 on a Sunday. There was no crowd. That should have been a clue. Noone was there to seat me. I had to hunt someone down. Hmmmm… Oh well, let’s give it a whirl. Looked up the place on the internet. Extremely mixed reviews. Second warning flag. Oh well, I was there, so I went ahead. I ordered a bloody Mary, which was great. Best part of the meal! I’m not from here and have never gotten a beer chaser with my bloody mary before and when I expressed surprise, was not really offered any information about it. I had to learn about this regional drink practice from the internet. A waitress came. I have no idea what her name was, as she didn’t introduce herself or say hello, but did ask if I was ready to order. I ordered a half rack of ribs, which came with dry toast, some fries, and some Cole slaw. I also ordered a side of collard greens. Granted, I lived in NC for 12 years, which is arguably a holy mecca for BBQ lovers, so I try to temper my expectations. However, there was nothing redeemable about the ribs. They were tough and dry. Definitely overcooked. While ribs that fall off the bone are overcooked, they are at least usually juicy and enjpyable to eat. I should not have had to rip the meat off the bone like a hyena eating a gazelle. So are to get the rib jerky off the bone. The menu makes a great deal about how how they don’t cook their ribs in sauce because sauce is used to cover up mistake. I implore you to use some sauce, as there are so many to cover up! The fries were hot, crispy and delicious and the coleslaw was creamy. However, the sides should never outshine the BBQ. The side of collards were too sweet. I had to hunt down a waitress to bring some vinegar. In fact, my waitress never came back to my table. Ever. Noone until the cashier asked how things were, and when I advised that I was disappointed, her response was that at least I had food in my stomach. She didn’t ask why I was disappointed, but only expressed that some people like it and some don’t. She then wished me a good day in whatever I was doing the rest of the day. I will have a good day, and when any one of thousands of scientists that are currently at the convention center down the road ask where to go for dinner or lunch, I will tell every single one of them what poor food and service that I received at Market BBQ.

Great service by this small Asian woman. Friendly and courteous. The food was great. I’m from Kansas City so I’m a little biased, but the sauce was flavorful, cornbread and honey butter tasted great together and burnt ends were delicious. Bar was divey but restaurant felt like home barbecue dinner

Horrible. Forgettable food. Lousy service. Expensive. Waiter that took my order forgot about us twice… As and apologized twice. Should not had to apologize once. It’s your job. More bread than meat. Went for the 10 oz. «huge» BBQ chicken filet and all I could taste was day old bread. Only reason I went was because Ryan’s pub(best cheese burger ever) was closed. Never need to go back. Don’t waste your time or money.

Have always gone to the Market BBQ since we started working the Minneapolis Sport & Travel show in March! Chicken, ribs and pork is great. Like the«fatter» fries they used to have a bit better. This time we had the most helpful and cheery waitress ever, name of Mary Grace. We needed to know sodium for a new diet restriction and she went back to the kitchen 3x for our questions. She checked in with us several times to make sure our food was good, to fill our water glasses & just give us a smile. Hope she works there for a long time! Someone mentioned about the cops being around all the time, doesn’t bother me. In fact, this weekend we didn’t see many but we did get«greeted» several times by people asking for spare change. :-(

We have always loved coming here for the beef ribs, one of the few places we could enjoy amazing ribs in town that are beef, due to dietary restrictions. We were extremely disappointed to see them taken off the menu this winter. PLEASE consider putting them back on the menu and we will gladly come back in and continue to rave about you to friends and family. I WANTED to give just 2 stars because of the menu change, but the Minnesota nice in me just couldn’t do it, the service was too good. I knOw negative reviews are the only ones that get any attention and the only way to make change is too be the squeeky wheel, but i hope someone will read this and consider bringing the beef ribs back.

Large portions of meat. Better than a chain restaurant(e.g. Chili’s TGIF’s), but nothing like the BBQ you’d get at a smokehouse in a State known for BBQ. Ribs & More Ribs: Pork Ribs and Beef Ribs. The beef ribs were big, but a tad too chewy for me. Perhaps they should have been cooked longer at a lower temperature? The pork ribs were a little more tender, but nowhere near falling off the bone. The ribs came plain, but the wet BBQ sauce and hot sauce helped enhance them. I actually really like the house-made hot sauce. The fries were pretty standard. The coleslaw was a bit too runny for me.
