Came in after time at the brew house with 30 min till close. My friend and I ordered tacos, a tostada and tea to fight the –10 cold. It was delicious! The service was great and we ate it all! I got the tinga, asada, and vegetarian tacos. The tinga was great with solid pepper flakes. The asada was standard but I’ve come to like lengua better because of the tenderness. Sadly salsa a la salsa did not have lengua available. There was a lot of variety on their menu so I definitely plan to go back and try the flautas and fish tacos. Overall the meal was just what I needed.

This is a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t get enough credit! Whether you are a person who loves authentic Mexican food or the gringo version of it, this place has it all! Food: Based off menu, there are a variety of options you can choose from. When I found out I could order a la carte that was exactly what I did. I ordered 2 tostadas and 1 taco: one tostada with carne asada(grilled steak), one tostada with chorizo(a Mexican sausage), and a taco with carnitas(a marinated pork). Each meat option was pretty good even though the chorizo was a bit salty for my taste. Overall, I will say I love the fact that they had many different meat options but was slightly disappointed they did not have lengua. Service: I really cannot say too much about the service because I did go to the restaurant about 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. What I will say is that I appreciated that they did not rush us through our meal which definitely shows me that they have the potential to have great customer service. Overall, this place is a good pick if you are looking for Mexican food at a good price that is really close to downtown. They also deliver to Lakes and Legends Brewery if you are hang out there which is awesome!

Got pupusas and a Chile relleno a la carte for lunch and both were absolutely INCREDIBLE. Authenticity of each dish was definitely up to par, although the pupusas were a little bit on the smaller side. Each dish looked delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, warm, and inviting. The height of the booths was also a huge plus. My server was Maria and she was an absolute sweetheart. She was very attentive and made sure I was always doing well. Will definitely be coming here again! I

The most incredible lunch specials! I go here frequently as they have the $ 8 lunch special that comes with your own appetizer and entrée(which includes sides). Best deal in town and it has great mole. Drinks are strong… Overall a great experience every time. :)

I’ve been to the Hennepin Ave location a couple times, and the service and food has been decent. However, I went to the Midtown Global Market location and was very disappointed. Only two people were working the tables, and they were both serving, hosting, and bartending, which seemed to keep them fairly distracted. It wasn’t busy at all, so I expected the service to be somewhat quick, but it took a few minutes to be seated, and then another few minutes to put a drink order in. After that, we were given chips & salsa, and we waited. The servers seemed too preoccupied with busing tables and standing at the order-up counter, and the person helping us changed a few times, so we weren’t sure who to flag down. After ordering, the food came out promptly, but my girlfriend’s portions were fairly meager. As well, we requested more chips and salsa, first being told that it would be a $ 1 charge, which was fine. The chips were dropped off with no salsa. I flagged the server, asking about the salsa, and then was told that the salsa would be another $ 1 charge. I reluctantly said okay. Additionally, at the beginning, when we received our complimentary chips & salsa, two different salsas were provided, but the $ 1 charge only got us one of them the second time around. If it takes $ 3 to get everything I had at the start, so be it, but the least they could do is ask what option I want instead of giving the bare minimum and waiting to see if I ask for more. Overall, the experience wasn’t the worst. The chipotle black bean quesadilla was pretty good. The service and ammenities just seemed lazy and cost-cutting. So I may not recommend the Global Market spot.

I started to get solicitation e-mails from Salsa a la Salsa in my work e-mail. I have never been to this place or even heard about it until I started getting these e-mails. For whatever reason it says I get these e-mail because I signed up for their E-club, which I clearly have not, especially not with my secure clinic work e-mail. That would be irresponsible for me to have done so. The several request to be unsubscribed from their list using their unsubscribe system have gone, for the most part, ignored.

Good food and prices are affordable. The chips were cold but I was happy to see tomatillo salsa and pico come out with chips instead of the usual salsa in a blender. The Margaritas were 2 for 1 during happy hour and they actually had some tequila in them. Nice place to eat, prices are affordable.

At first i was a big skeptical to come here due to previous Unilocal reviews but it’s actually really good. The outdoor patio is really nice and when you sit down they give you free chips and salsa. I always get the fish tacos and they’re excellent. I think they have some pretty good margarita monday and taco tuesday deals too but i have yet to check it out! The service was excellent and very attentive :)

I have been here a few times for their meals. I found this to be a fantastic place to enjoy a good meal and hang out with friends. This is a great and convenient location. For the most part, the employees do a great job at keeping everything clean and organized. I have had only few problems with leftover clutter from previous customers. Therefore, I have felt comfortable walking in here. The waiters are friendly and helpful at any questions we may have. They also appear eager to give any suggestions they may have that will improve our eating experience. They are great at holding a good conversation during their slow times. The food is delicious and always served to my hot. Only once have I ever had to wait any longer than ten minutes, which I think is reasonable. I mostly order the appetizers. As long as this place does a great job at what they do, I will continue coming here. I feel like I can count on them for a good time with my friends and a great meal.

Food was average but I am really giving the full 5 stars because of service. I recently went with a group of 16 people and the servers were so helpful, patient and efficient. Food was typical of a Mexican restaurant in this price range. We sat outside which was a nice treat on a beautiful day!

Bland, rubbery Mexican fare. Keep scrolling. I ordered the chicken chilaquiles. The chicken consisted of two ½″ filets(due to rubbery, dry consistency, most likely frozen then reheated or microwaved.) The bean dip, salsa, and green tomatillo salsa had a gelatinous consistency as though they were freshly tapped out of the bottom of an aluminum can. If your priority is getting ‘filled up’ then this might not be a bad choice. If you’re looking for flavor, I’d suggest you keep looking.

This place is awesome! The servers are attentive, the music is great, the food is even better! We were served by Angel and Geoffrey! They were so surprisingly patient with us ordering as it was our first time here! And even allowed me to switch out drinks when I hastily ordered the Strawberry Jalapeño without realizing it was spicy as heck and contained actual Jalapeño seeds, ay ay ay! Go with the Ginger Pineapple Sunshine! Unless you like your drinks spicy!

Had a great lunch her on a warm and windy Sunday recently. We sat out on the patio basking in the sun and shared two wonderful items from the lunch/brunch menu. The Quesadila(with Chicken) was delightfully crispy with just the right amount of goodies inside and the Mexican chopped salad(with Chicken) had lots of shredded lettuce, black beans, cilantro and crispy tortilla strips tossed in a light refreshing dressing. The two items along with the bright yellow chips and salsa were a perfect and satisfying amount of food for lunch. The only issue was the wind — had to anchor the bowl of chips with a bottle of hot sauce — but there’s no helping that outside. Recommended.

Let me get right to the point– go some where else. Less than average service, terrible timing of food(every other person at our table got their food 15 minutes apart), bland food.

I lived in Minneapolis for a period of time last year and this restaurant was down the street from my house. I just loved it. The food was soooo good for such an affordable price and the staff always friendly. Two toastadas with the chicken tinga was my usual order. I tried other things on the menu too, was never disappointed. Awesome!

If you’re from the South… try something else. It’s ok but it lacked flavor being«Mexican food». Upside was the vegetarian options. Came at the time there was a conference going on therefor it was super busy. Complete fail. Service wasn’t great, drinks came after the food and even the sides for the main dishes came aftee that. They were kind but it seems not use to that many people at once.

WHAT A FIND!!! My wife and I were at the Minneapolis convention center for our daughter’s Volleyball Tournament. We had a couple hours free between games and decided to walk somewhere for lunch. Unilocal to the rescue. We found Salsa a la Salsa was only a two block walk from the convention center. Restaurant was clean and cosy. We started with a strawberry margarita, frozen with sugar instead of sat. One of the best we’ve had. Next was the fresh guacamole. ORDERTHEGUACAMOLE! Many restaurants get this so wrong but again, one of the best we’ve ever had. We ordered the chicken taco salad. No canned chicken here, it was freshly grilled, and there was a ton of it! Again, one of the best chicken taco salads we’ve ever had! WEWILLABSOLUTELYBEBACK!!!

This place would be five stars except that the margaritas were so-so. But I loved it otherwise — I had the pollo diablo and it was flipping fantastic. They gave us your standard chips and salsa, which was delicious, but no refill(probably not a bad thing for my waistline). A nice fireplace, friendly staff, all in all a great experience. I can’t wait to try their new location in uptown.

Yes, Mexican in Downtown Minneapolis! Large menu with many options! The music was salsa and we ordered a pitcher of Margaritas! And Started to devour Unlimited Chips and Salsa! I had the Pollo con Nopales(Chicken and Cactus) with rice and steamed vegetables. A little soupy but comes with tamales, so I say 5 stars on that. My family was not too adventurous. Quesadilla, tacos, and something with Mole sauce but they would share– so I going to have to go back! They have Kids options too that come with a drink and cookie! The service was a little slow but it seemed very clean.
