Best local LQ. I started going here exclusively after Zipp’s gave me and my friends consistently rude service(understated). Skol is the jam, and they deserve the business!

Awesome. Beer heaven. Whatever you need, they got it. If you dont see it, ask for Tom. HOMEDELIVERYAVAILABLE. Cheap. The staff helped tote our purchase to car and loaded it for us. Try to get this selection, service, savvy(they KNOW their products), and home delivery option anywhere else… its not possible. Admittedly, I want to bark out a loud«skoal» in the store — they are great!

Great liquor store, from traditional brews to something more exotic. They have some hard-to-find hard ciders & one of my favorite spirits, Choya. During New Year’s, the staff was helpful in recommending sparkling wines. The business never seems too busy either, so it’s great if you need to make it a quick stop.

My favorite liquor stores are ones that have a parking lot that isn’t a zoo. Sometimes Skol doesn’t have the most competitive prices, but their parking lot, oh the parking lot. I am confident that it is the calmest, most easy-to-maneuver liquor store lot around, even at 9 on a Saturday night or the day before a holiday. This may sound silly but I generally chose a trip to a tranquil Skol over the other local options with more variety and often better prices — for me the pros of Zipp’s and Chicago Lake are outweighed by the odds of getting into a fender bender trying to get in and out. I’ve also been coming to Skol since I was just a tot tagging along with my dad, where he would return his empty Grain Belt bottles to the conveyor belt that rolled into the back. Needless to say I feel a sense of loyalty. Turns out that them giving me a sucker every time I came in as a kid ended up being great marketing.

I like this place partially because it’s not Zipp’s. Zipp’s is a real pain when driving because the chances of smashing into someone’s car are high in their tiny lot. Even on foot it’s a bit of a danger zone. Skol, on the other hand, has plentiful parking and it’s much easier to access. Plus it’s away from Franklin Ave traffic. Also, Skol just has a cool vibe to it. The employees are friendly and some of them have been there for years. They have all the cheap stuff but also have a good selection of craft beers. They have a good wine and liquor selection as well. A reliable store.

I am judgmental. I came here once, early in Minneapolis residency, on my way to the Tar-ghetto. As I crossed the parking lot on my way in, a disheveled, obviously drunk man exited the store with a bottle in a paper bag asking me for change. He was shameless in his motives as he explained to me that it was going towards his next alcoholic fix. I was irritated that he was that ballsy and that the clerk had served him. Other than that, the selection was fine, but after discovering Zipp’s, I haven’t felt the need to compare prices. 1 star bonus: At their website they point out that their phone number can be easily retrieved from your muddled mind by the mnemonic(612) R-A-W-B-E-E-F.

A good liquor store, but completely overshadowed by Zip’s up the street. Come here if Zip’s is swamped and you need something ordinary.
