I’ve been back and still find it very good. I had a burrito which was too big but good. Maybe they could add an ‘Old Geezer Size’. I don’t recall everything I’ve had the other times but I’ve been there maybe four times since my first visit a year ago. It’s always good though and I will be back soon enough. I really like their salsa’s too which have good flavor and they don’t burn so much when I’m eating but they do bring the sweat out. When the weather’s warm enough I may bring my own chair so I can sit outside to eat.

Delicious! I am vegetarian but this is an authentic place with a veggie burrito that is two meals! It also came with chip’s and guacamole. Yum.

As native Texans, to say my husband and I love tacos is an understatement. This unassuming little joint is among the top tacos we’ve had since moving to mn! Friendly service, clean dining room, delicious flavors. You definitely want to go here.

I ate there today, my kind of place. I will go there again. I got two Tripa and two Chorizo tacos. Good but not great, the tripa had a good texture but not a lot of flavor. The Chorizo was a little dry. Served good and hot. To get more stars it would have to be great and or something unique, like a couple other Mexican places I have reviewed.

Bare bones taqueria that is the real deal for authentic Mexican. Located in the back of the butcher shop, Valerie’s Taqueria is stripped down and no nonsense inside. Just bar style seating overlooking a backyard and 32nd St. The service was very friendly and prompt, and the tacos were a short wait. I had some chicken tacos, and my main homie Amanda had the barbacoa. Both were very tasty. This place also has buche, cecina, lengua and tripas tacos, so it’s legit. Come to enjoy some great authentic Mexican food. Don’t come for atmosphere or in a date.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. Remember Contra on NES, where you frantically –yet carefully– mashed these buttons at the title screen in order to get 30 lives?(Yes?) Well, today, I wish I entered some sort of life code, so I could’ve eaten more of Valerie Taqueria’s tacos. The space is small, painted with some bright colors, and has a a simple(yet robust) menu hanging to the left chillin’ next to a large statue of Mother Mary. No tables exist, so if you’re not taking your food to go, you’ll have to put your rump at the counter seating by the windows. Okay, that’s nice. What about the food? For my late lunch, I ordered four tacos total(two al pastor and two carnitas) and a horchata: Al pastor: Slightly overcooked(and not as juicy) than other places that make great al pastor; however, it’s still delicious, and it’s packed with a lot of chili powder.(Just how I like it.) Carnitas: Unlike other places that slow cook and pull apart the pork shoulder, Valerie’s lightly grills it. Even though it’s a bit chewier, it has a tasty slight char and still plenty succulent. *Note: They’ll ask if you want green or red sauce with your meal. I haven’t had the red, but the green provides that extra kick for those that like their food spicy.(I’m looking at you, BK. J.) Horchata: Sweet, cold, and refreshing — pretty standard. And that’s a good thing. Price: More affordable than other taquerias without compromising taste. Service: Although very nice, it was incredibly slow. Even though I was the third customer there, I didn’t get my food for about fifteen or twenty minutes later. One person that came after me even got his food before mine. I didn’t put in a huge order, so I don’t think that’s acceptable. Nonetheless, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and not count it against them. Overall, I would definitely return. Great food for a great price.

Valerie’s has some of the best, if not THE best tacos in the Twin Cities. A perfect lunch spot, Valerie’s pastor, asada, and chorizo tacos are my go-to lunch at least one a week. Don’t miss out on this gem!

I moved to the neighborhood a couple months ago and Valerie’s is my go-to place! The ladies working there are super great and the food is DELICIOUS. Seriously. This is where I bring my friends whenever they come over. I’ve tried most of their tacos, my favorites being Al Pastor and Salted Beef Steak, as well as their Al Pastor burrito. If you’re a guacamole snob, theirs may not come up to par with your expectations; its too liquidy for my taste, and it’s very spicy(admittedly, I have a low spice tolerance). The chips they serve are great — they seem freshly fried in-house. And their tamales! Mmm… If you’re looking for authentic, delicious tacos(or tamales), this is the place to go!

Valerie’s Carniceria on Nicollet and 32nd, has been a local grocery store for some time. Right around the corner is a small mostly take-out place called Valerie’s Taqueria. A wide selection of Mexican meats in a wide selection of authentic styles. Many items come with a hot pepper which is very spicy!
