Although I’ve only been here once, I thought I’d write this place up, because it is very good and because it is oddly hard to find, so a heads up to Unilocalers is worthwhile. About the food: I ordered a brisket dinner to go, with medium-heat sauce and two sides: red potatoes and green beans. The brisket was delicious and the portion solid. I’ll try the spicier sauce next time, as this one, while a bit zesty, was not the least bit«hot,» so I wonder what the mild is like. The sides were excellent. Potatoes cooked perfectly, with a dash of parsley; the green beans were likewise terrific, apparently cooked from fresh but very soft and with bacon. I might upgrade to 5 stars if I try some more and it’s reliably this good. Don’t know where I’d find better BBQ in town. They cater, too, and I’ll use them if I ever need that. About the hard-to-find part: this place has no exterior signage whatsoever, as best I could tell. I drove by it twice before calling them and getting the skinny. It is run out of the kitchen in the VFW(Veterans of Foreign Wars) building, itself very plain to see, on the south side of the road. Enter the building, go to the right and into a bar, and the food is made in the large attached kitchen. Sit-down dining is plentiful, but I ordered take out. Call ahead to see what policies apply for kids, as this place is a bar restaurant, and kids might or might not be allowed.
