Fins is delicious! I’ve been here several times and I have never been disappointed. The fish and all of the other ingredients are super fresh, the restaurant is impeccably clean and the service is always fast and friendly. It’s such a great, healthy alternative if you are looking for a quick and delicious meal. I highly recommend this place!

I was excited to find a poke place at the south end of OC. It was the perfect location to take a break from my drive going to SD and grab something quick and light to eat. It so happen that day was Taco Tuesday. I got even more excited to see that they were offering a deal of 2/$ 5 which was a $ 1.00 off each(normally $ 3.50) or if you order it with any size bowl, it ends up only being $ 1.50 each; what a deal! Since I came in to get a bowl, I figured why not and add one to my order. Sadly, I was more impressed with the taco than the build your own bowl which is what I came in for and what these types of spots primarily highlight. The taco, I got a lot out of. So much that I didn’t even touch my bowl and just took it home with me(and I didn’t even eat the shell). They use the crab meat as the base and I got to choose three types of fish and pretty much whatever toppings I wanted. They even put the spicy tuna on a little container since it would of overflowed on the taco. However, getting exactly what I wanted on the bowl didn’t happen. Why? Because the good stuff like that spicy tuna that I was included in the price of the taco, I would of had to pay an extra $ 1.50 for and the crab meat an extra $ 1. The avo, a $ 1… and I so missed it on my bowl. The octupus that I sometimes opt for, was $ 1.50 more. The seaweed that I love, love, love, also would of cost an extra $ 1.00. The splurge I made to it was the masago, that I got for an extra .50 cents. There were a few other items but I can’t remember which exact ones were extra. The toppings offered weren’t all that different/great than other places. There were only three options of the sauces and none were special. The only positive thing really is the quality and cut of the fish. It was good. For the price, the options, I wouldn’t come out here for those bowls even if I lived closer. It’s ends up pretty pricey for all those upgrades. Anywhere from $ 4-$ 5 more than what I’m used to paying for the exact same thing at my favorite spot in San Diego which cost around $ 12. So do the math. I may still come back as I make frequent drives up and down that 5 frwy. I do really like the location being right at the south tail end of OC. But I will likely just keep my order to the tacos and toss out that shell. I’ll be happier statisfing my poke craving that way.

Friendly staff, fast service and great tasting fresh food. I stopped by to pick up a bite to go and got the medium size shrimp bowl with spicy mayo and brown rice. Every bite was fresh, and delicious– full of flavor. Would definitely go back again, and very reasonably priced!

Alright so this was the first Poke place I tried and I thought it was the bees knees. But then as Poke has become popular I’ve gone to more places. This one is definitely mediocre compared to most. They give a pathetic amount of fish and the spicy tuna is only a topping and not one of the fishes you can choose from which is lame. Also the rice tastes kind of stale and they charge extra for everything i.e. seaweed salad when most other places have it as a free side. I’s fine because its near by but really nothing special.

Came into this establishment yesterday after a friend recommended it me, and it was delicious. The fish was fresh and flavors were great. Service was quick and friendly and don’t forget your macaroon on the way out!

Absolutely delicious poke. The fish is so fresh and so is the rest of the food. I love how you go through the line and have them make it right in front of you. The edname and cucumbers are a must for any bowl. And I never skimp on the crab meat. The atmosphere is hip and fresh. Though I can’t really bring my kids(they won’t eat poke bowls, though they do accommodate kids there) it’s a great place for a date night or to grab something for dinner.

The owner is super nice and has a beautiful young family. The fish is good quality. Other places smother the fish with sauce to cover up low quality fish, not Fins. The fish is great quality. And the sauces are good to. Ask for a sample before trying.

My go-to poke place if my friends and I aren’t down to go to Irvine. Super tasty bowls and fast service. However, I think the price is a little high for a poke bowl considering that a lot of the add ins, such as avocado and masago, cost extra money. Lot of parking and right across from Mission Viejo Mall. Convenient for any Saddleback college students.

I’ve gone here a couple of times because it’s a convenient, local place to go for poke. Each time I’ve gone, I’ve gotten the poke tacos. One thing that is different from other poke places I have gone is that they start the taco off with a crab base. The shredded crab base tastes good, but it cuts down on the amount of poke you get. I’ve tried both the poke and the tuna in the tacos. The quality of fish is good enough, but places like Bear Flag in Newport Beach are higher quality. Even though this isn’t the greatest poke, I would go back here because it’s still good.

I came here based on the rave reviews as well as its close proximity to my house. I love poke and have been to my fair share of local spots. This one… its just a-ok. I wanted to fall in love with it because its so close to home but honestly I was not impressed. T heir pricing is pretty standard. Beginning with a small(peewee $ 7.50) medium(kahuna $ 8.95) and large(big kahuna 10.95) but once you look at all the scoop sizing it doesn’t really add up. First of all they don’t measure by scoops. There’s a scale and they weigh each individual serving. The scoops also limit the variety of choices you can pick from. 1 scoop for a small, 2 for a medium, and 3 for a large. The back and forth movement of fish from the cold tray to the weighing bowl made me a little uneasy. Another thing I noticed is that they charge you extra for items that are typically included in the bowl pricing. If you wanted spicy tuna, scallops, or octopus as your«scoop» you have to pay extra. Crabmeat is also extra. So is masago. I stood there thinking«come on seriously?» I expected to shell out more money for the avocado and seaweed salad but what? Oh theres also only 3 sauces. I may come back if I am seriously craving a poke bowl and unwilling to drive to my normal spot(Uroko) but other than that? Meh.

Helloooo poke! Where have you been all my life? Why do I need to come to Mission Viejo to try you out?! San Diego needs more of these fun little restaurants. My order was called in so I didn’t actually experience the restaurant itself, this review is based on the food. Food: amazing. Pregnancy keeps me away from the raw, but I managed to settle for shrimp & crab on a bed of lettuce mixed with jalapeños, spicy mayo, cucumbers, Japanese pickles and other mixed veggies. Super fresh, very delicious and just the right portions. I was full afterwards, but it wasn’t overwhelming at all. It’s like the subway of poke bowls, but 10000000x’s better. You can order the bowl with rice, taco bowl or you can opt for straight up tacos. My only suggestion would be to make the tacos wonton style. It’s a bit weird that the shells are corn. It’s not Mexican food, it’s Asian fusion. All in all, great experience.

To date this was my best experience at a poke restaurant. We were greeted warmly despite the fact we arrived 5 – 10 mins before they would close shop. The staff was so friendly they held a conversation the whole time while providing excellent service. Customer service like this is very hard to find. This place knows how to treat their guests. Finally the food was spectacular! Thank you FINS! Signed, oceanbreeze46/brotherinlaw88 out!

My favorite poke spot around here. Good sized bowl for $ 9ish. Fish options: ahi tuna, salmon, albacore tuna, shrimp, octopus(extra $), shredded crab($ 1), masago(extra $), scallop(extra $), spicy tuna(extra $) Toppings: green onion, white onion, fried garlic, seaweed($ 1), avocado($ 1), red pickled radishes, pickled ginger, sliced cucumbers, jalapeño, lemon slices, orange slices, sesame seeds, edamame ^^all from memory so I probably missed a few things Fish is always fresh and they have many sauces and toppings to choose from. I always get it with the Ponzu sauce. They used to have these amazing garlic chips which I loved, I don’t know why they replaced it with minced garlic. If you don’t want soggy rice and/or don’t want your fish warm/cooked(especially if you have to drive all the way back to work), ask for the fish separate from the rice. But you gotta REITERATE(!!!) because they always forget and dump all the fish and sauce on my rice –____– Always great service though!

Build your own poke bowl, the combination is yours to create, simple or complex, at the end it is so deliciously yummy! There are 3 sizes, I chose medium & it’s a bit much for me, next time I will go for small. Afterward, I also noticed the sign on the wall stated that medium is actually 2 portions. Casual eatery, awesome food, plenty of parking.

Poke poke poke. I’ve only been to a couple spots in LA and Pokinometry in Anaheim so this is based on the little experience I have. Pros– Fish looks pretty fresh and tastes good. Clean interior Always parking 3 types of sauces– soy, ponzu, spicy mayo. I’ve heard many people like to mix spicy mayo with one of the other sauces. Edamame as a side! Cons– Quite a few things cost extra, where at other places, it comes as your base. For instance, seaweed salad, crabmeat and avocado are $ 1 extra. Masago is 0.50. If you aren’t a fan of these things like my husband, you’ll appreciate this. Fins is my husbands fav poke joint. Like many of the poke places out there– it is similar to Chipotle where you build your own bowl. Choice for bases are crunchy taco shell, crunchy taco bowl, brown rice, white rice, greens. FYI– the ponzu is garlicky and really good. Not good for those having to deal with your bad breath though hehe

Pros Poke Tacos: the crispy taco shell tasted exactly like deep fried wonton wrapper. The base was creamy crab mix topped your choice of fish and toppings. Fish: the fish was good and the tuna in particular was the greatest tasting of their selection of fishes. Cons Toppings: unfortunately this was my least favorite place for poke bowls because of the limited selection of toppings. Prices: pretty pricey compared to their small portion sizes. I’m used to getting generous portions of poke bowls at the other competition for a lower price but considering it is in the Mission Viejo community, the high pricing was justified.

THISPLACEONLYHAS4.5STARSBECAUSEITHADGOODRATINGSBEFORETHEYREMODELEDIT/RENOVATED/CHANGED MANAGEMENT. NOWITIS A SOLID1 – 2STARPOKEJOINT. DON’T BEFOOLEDBYITSHIGHRATING Man oh man, was it a big shock to come back here after they remodeled it and changed management. My girlfriend and I first came here when it looked like a sushi restaurant, before they remodeled it into the basic assembly line poke restaurants. Before the renovation this place looked like a sushi restaurant with the chefs working behind a glass of various pieces of fish laid out. Anyways, coming back here months later, it was a big shock to find out how this place did a 180 from their décor as well as their food/management. Their assembly line style is ineffective which is apparent by the long wait line and the slow customer turnover rate. Even though there are 5 – 6 people working the line, they are still really inefficient and take way longer than average to get the food prepared. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes to get out food, and that was with just 5 – 6 people in front of us. The fish here was whatever, and they nickel and dime you for every topping. This place is wayyyyy overpriced. It cost $ 12 for the large size which is 3 scoops of fish(most other places is $ 12 for 5 scoops). Then they charge you an additional $ 1 for avocado, seaweed salad, crab, etc. They only offer you the cheap toppings(cucumber, onions, etc.) free of charge. My Poke bowl ended up costing $ 15 with everything in it. All the other poke places in the OC offer crab/avocado/octopus/seaweed salad free of charge that comes with your purchase… but not here. I would avoid this poke place at all cost. This place is extremely overpriced for the average quality poke that you get. Be prepared to spend an extra $ 1PERTOPPING, to get your crab meat/avocado. The service here is really slowwwww so be prepared to wait in a long line as well.

Poke. Everywhere you look, there are poke places now, but not so much in South Orange County. I had heard that a new poke place took over the old Sushi Zone location in Mission Viejo. It is very close to where I work, so I thought I would check it out. So, it is set up like an assembly line fast food place, a la Subway, Chipotle, Pieology style. You go down the line to assemble your bowl. I chose the Kahuna which is the medium size bowl. This price includes the base(which is white rice, brown rice or mixed greens), fish(choice of tuna, albacore, salmon or shrimp) and basic toppings. You also choose your sauce. Additional toppings such as avocado, masago, seaweed salad come with an additional charge. Additional proteins as octopus and crabmeat are also an additional charge. It is kinda easy to get caught up in the«maybe if I put a ton of stuff on this bowl, it will be better» mentality. Just remember if you choose to do this, you may be a bit surprised by your expensive poke bowl when you ring up. Poke Tacos to build, are also available, if you don’t want a bowl. On my Kahuna bowl, I assembled with white rice, additional crabmeat protein(which I highly recommend), spicy tuna poke, ponzu sauce, Sriracha(spicy tuna + Sriracha = spicy goodness), and additional toppings of avocado and masago(tiny fish eggs). I got this to go. I had to take a bite on my way home. OMG, it was so good. I decided best not to eat poke and drive, as I did not want to explain that to the the police officer. Staff is friendly and helpful. Owner is really nice and helpful, too. The fish was very fresh here, which is key. I really like the additions I added on, especially the masago and crabmeat protein. It’s a great poke place to visit, and I look forward to building more bowls here :)
