This place has both good food, as well as fairly healthy menu options, which can be hard to find. It’s also a bar with a decent beer and wine selection. When I went a few weeks ago, I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and the salad with grilled salmon. The salad was excellent. I don’t remember what they put on it, but it was a variety of very complementary salad ingredients including nuts and fruit. The only thing was that the chef went a little overboard with the poppyseed vinaigrette; I could have done with about half of what was poured on. Other than that, the bacon wrapped shrimp was pretty good, but very bland for my tastes. All in all, I’d recommend this place, but if you prefer food on the spicier/more savory side, you might want to look elsewhere.

I won’t vote for a person just because he is Australian, nor will I eat at a restaurant just because it’s «farm to table». You have to have something else to justify your choice. The food was lukewarm and not a very good value. The time that elapsed from our order till we received it was a inordinate amount of time even though we were the only ones eating food that needed to be cooked. Hopefully, I just caught them on a bad day.

I have never gone to a restaurant and then had to go home and prepare myself something else to eat! I met up with a friend to «catch up» and we were very disappointed with Off The Vine Bistro’s food. The atmosphere was great but the food we were served was completely subpar and nothing you should ever be served in a restaurant. I ordered the tomato basil panini without a side on white bread. It was thin sliced bread you get from the grocery store and consisted of two tiny slices of tomato, two equally tiny slices of mozzarella, and a half a thumb sized piece of wilted basil on each side… the sandwich was about as thick as my pinkie finger… it was also very bland. When the food was deposited on our table, my friend and I looked at each other like you’ve got to be kidding. She was very disappointed with her soggy turkey and bacon sandwich also and did not feel well after our visit. I was in shock or I would have taken a picture of the paltry amount of food that was served to us… needless to say we will find someplace else to go for lunch?

Enjoyed lunch for the first time at Off the Vine. Ordered the eggplant sandwich, which was good. Looked a little sparse on the plate, but I didn’t order a side. Sandwich was toasted, flavorful and a good portion size. Wait staff was attentive and courteous and the owner was present. She greeted our table and let us know about new things offered at the restaurant. I am looking forward to returning for happy hour and listening to music on the patio.

We stopped in one day to chitchat with this place then returned another day for dinner. I really wanted to like this place. My husband ordered the burger and it was tasty. He ordered lentil soup and he also liked it, but the carrots on top were burned. It’s supposed to be vegetarian, so I expected good vegetables. I ordered the eggplant sandwich with honey glazed onions and blue cheese. There was mostly bread sandwich with two almost raw eggplant slices and three slivers of onion dipped in honey and I could barely see the cheese. I was really disappointed. There were two other tables and I had to wait 5 minutes until the waitstaff finished chitchatting with another customer to remind her that we were waiting for our wine. If it weren’t for the wine mellowing me out, I would have complained and refused to pay for the sandwich. I make better at home.

Absolute Gem in an unlikely setting. Tucked in at the back of Pecan Plaza strip mall is probably what is my new favourite place in South Houston. Featuring a truly comprehensive craft beer and California wine list, absurdly reasonable prices pair with excellently executed locally sourced menu Items. More than just a cliché, the local ingredients add to the dish, instead of getting lost in it. I had an amazing Bison burger(grass fed beef also available) cooked to a perfect medium rare. It featured Hawaiian King Bun, sumptuously fresh local veggies, and Texas Natural Meats bacon. Overall one of the better burgers I’ve had in town. They also have Gluten Free options for those with sensitivity. Great date option or simply night out, you can’t go wrong at Off the Vine

I really liked this place, family owned mom and pop bistro. The food has a unique flavor and approach. My boyfriend and I tend to like to try a lot of different items on the menu so we only stuck to appetizers. Let me tell you, everything we ordered was delicious. Some of the sauces/jams have a slight Indian flare to them, while the clean feel to the food adds freshness. We ordered the HOUSEBRUSCHETTAPLATE, BEEFGUJIYA, BAKEDBRIECUPS and MAMA’S SPICEDCHICKENBITES. All were delicious and unique. The beef and the brie were my for sure favorites. My suggestion is to try it out at their happy hour, the prices are much more affordable 4:30pm to 6pm weekdays — closed on Monday. All in all, if you are one that likes fresh food and unique flavors, give this a try!

We have visited the restaurant twice now. I can say that we really liked the food we ordered on both occasions. I am a vegan with multiple food allergies. The chef(also the owner) made sure that my dishes were prepped«allergen free». The only complaint I had would be the timeliness of the service. The staff were super friendly, but often we had to wait a while before we were able to order our meals. So, plan to spend some time in the restaurant.

I absolutely loved this place our neighborhood needs locally owned establishments like these. The wine selections were unique. I tried the chili and it was great. The owners were very friendly and made the atmosphere feel just as it should a «homey neighborhood café» this place is a breath of fresh air when surrounded by fast food chains. Can’t wait to go back and try out their menu

I wish i would have read the reviews before eating here. This is suppose to be a «farm to fork» wine bar type place, right? Well, my house wine tasted like the bottle had been opened for a couple of days. Definitely not fresh. But ok, whatever, i let that go bc it was happy hour and i ordered the house wine, so maybe it was just a cheap bottle or something. On to the meal… There is no way any of that was fresh, but it sure was overpriced. I ordered a 12 dollar turkey sandwich. It came on regular, store bought wheat bread. And not the fancy stuff, just plain old wheat bread. The turkey was decent but the cheese reminded me of kraft cheese slices. The side was potato chips. And not home made potato chips, lays potato chips… so save yourself 12 dollars and make it at home. The chicken bites were ok. A tad salty but a decent curry taste. My husband ordered some type of beef stew with a beer braise. He eats anything and yet when asked if it was good simply said, «eh». It was 22 dollars. The reason this place got 2 stars and not 1 was bc the people were very friendly. I really wanted to like this place bc its so close to us! But we will not be going back. :/Very disappointed!

This place is really amazing! We saw it driving home from dinner one night and decided to try it tonight. We had the meat and cheese board and salmon puffs for appetizers. YUM! The cream cheese and spicy mayo dip was to die for! We weren’t too hungry but decided to also have some wine and share the«Pull apart cauliflower and sweet potato hash» which was also amazing! They cook then broil this entrée which leaves it with a toasted finish, but absolutely not burnt and it is delicious. Can’t wait to come back to try some of the other dishes!

My husband & I stopped by for a quick meal after a bike ride — not sure what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. They listed all the local food sources for their«from the farm/local foods» menu. They had a good selection of wines & local craft beers. They even gave us the happy hour discount when it was past 6p! Hearing about some of the music events they have planned for upcoming weekends was intriguing too. Our experience was great from beginning to end, and we will be back!!!

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant. Sadly, we were greatly disappointed. The food was not healthy or natural. Our appetizers were burned and my entrée was a processed lunch meat. We will not be back

Excellent food and wine to pair the meals with. As you walk in the ambiance of the restaurant really makes you feel like your being catered to an exquisite meal!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. It’s a cute neighborhood place in a neighborhood that needs more small businesses to succeed. But if this place is «farm to fork» or «farm to table» you can’t tell from the menu or anything else. If they’ve purchased any of their food from local farms or suppliers they don’t list it. The curry was probably the best thing at our table. But the Brussels sprouts that my wife ordered lacked flavor and her salad topped with salmon wasn’t that great either. That led to an awkward encounter with the woman who may own the place. And that’s the lasting memory I have of eating here.
