Great pizza place with a variety of pizzas to choose from. My favorite was the Mediterranean with shrimp. There is also a good selection of beer and outside seating for warmer weather Service was very good as was the food

A «Pub» atmosphere is not my first venue of choice, but I found Ashland Pub to be comfortable and inviting. More an eatery than just a pub. A little noisy, but in a fun way– not overbearing. Very nice manager– super friendly. Ashland Pub is why Midtown Mobile has such a cool vibe. Then there’s the food. Oh. My. Goodness. The best thing I had on the menu(I think) was the Shrimp Pizza. To die for. First time either of us had ever had shrimp pizza, but I’ll be back for some more of that! Then there was the crawfish and cheese dip! Wow! If the shrimp pizza wins the Heisman Trophy, then the crawfish dip still wins the Butkus award. Both are MVPs. And there’s so much more to try! Wide selection of adult beverages, but tonight I went for unsweetened tea. I’ve had some pretty bad unsweet tea in some places before because they don’t give attention to details. Some of the tea I’ve had is more like Constant Complaint than Constant Comment. But this tea was FRESH and FLAVORFUL. A+++ Service was also top notch. Discovering cool little places like this is so much fun!

I’ve been here twice in one week. The first time with a friend who introduced me to the Ashland Pub, then I brought my husband for brunch. Our server was LaDonna(or Aunt LaLa or just La). You will know her when you see her because she looks just like Valeria Bertinelli! She could not have been nicer. She enlightened us about the menu and drink choices. The drinks and food were above par. We were awed by the MiMo Benedict, opting for scrambled eggs over the poached, The servings are very generous and we both took home enough for another meal. If you don’t visit soon, you will be like us and sorry you didn’t discover this gem sooner.

I love our little spot! There are great happy hour and ladies night drink specials. The food is consistently delicious. Our regular servers are friendly and efficient. My friends and I never tire of Ashland Pub. :)

I’m not sure why it took me so long to try this place. I’m always scoping out places that offer wifi, and this made the list. I finally made my way in there today, and it won’t take long for me to go back! The food — incredible! That’s an understatement. I took a quick glance over the menu and decided on the mahi mahi caprese. The words mahi and caprese always grab my attention, and this is the first time I’ve seen them used together. Genius! The fish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was topped with pesto, slices of roma tomatoes and melted mozzarella, and served on a pile of pasta in a creamy sauce. I devoured every last bite. I’m still thinking about it. The bartender/manager dude behind the bar told me that the ahi tuna was their best seller. I do love some rare tuna, but it will be very hard not to order the mahi mahi caprese every time. The service was great. I was super busy doing Unilocaly stuff and the man and woman working were friendly, but not so chatty that I couldn’t work. Love that! They seemed nice, so I wish I had been slightly less busy so I could chat them up about their favorite dishes. They seemed to have some regulars coming in as well. I can certainly understand why. My meal and drink set me back $ 17, plus tip. That may sound a little high for a lunch, but I can assure you, it was not high for what I got. I thought it was very reasonable. This just might be my new favorite lunch spot! Give them a try and you’ll see why!

I absolutely love Ashland Pub. Not only is it a mile from my home in Midtown but the food is great! Their bruschetta is my favorite and I could literally eat it multiple times a week(or day). They have an upbeat staff with friendly bartenders and waitresses. It isn’t a large location but its the perfect well kept secret from tourist that can populate the downtown area. My husband always appreciates the beer selection and the«everyone knows your name» atmosphere. If we don’t visit the Ashland Pub on a weekly basis, its rare. The only thing I need them to do now is lower the delivery minimum to $ 10 so I can get my bruschetta delivered and enjoy it while wearing my pajamas.

«The hook up» was delicious. It was recommended by the server, and we ordered it after being disappointed by the Mahi Mahi. Good place for a drink and a pie.

This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Midtown. They have an awesome menu with stuff that you really can’t get anywhere else, like Captain Crunch French toast stuffed with cream cheese(it’s just as decadent as it sounds). They’re kind of known for their pizza, so make sure to try the breakfast pizza if you’re here for brunch. Suzanne is an awesome bartender and also makes some bomb ass bloody Mary’s that are generously garnished. They also have bottomless mimosas, but don’t cut them with too much juice like some other brunch places I’ve been in Mobile. It’s kind of small inside, so it can feel a little crowded when they’re super busy, but it’s not really all that unpleasant. Parking also tends to fill up when they’re super busy, but that’s to be expected. Regardless, if you live in Mobile and haven’t tried this place yet, you’re missing out.

We live close and go here often. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry. They are busy just about every night of the week and usually only have 1 or 2 servers covering the whole place. We usually wait a while for food too, but not annoyingly long. It can also get loud in there, which is not the restaurant’s fault, but during a good happy hour, I feel like I have to yell to talk to my table. The crawfish dip is incredible! You won’t regret getting it. My favorite entrée is the ahi tuna salad. I’ve probably had it over a dozen times and it has been great almost every time. One time, the tuna was way too cooked, as I like it rare. And one time the tuna tasted old and freezer-burned. But usually, it hits the spot. Never get the«add shrimp» to the regular salad. That shrimp tastes like they just microwave some cocktail shrimp and toss it on there. Poorly seasoned and rubbery. My husband usually gets the meatball sub– the meatballs are huge– too big to bite into for me, but he likes it. I am also a big fan of the pizzas and calzones. The pizzas are a little on the pricey side. The«tragically hip» is my favorite, but I haven’t had a bad one. The calzones are huge and usually I have enough for TWO leftover meals.

This place is in a very bad location with very little parking. I realize it is supposed to be a pub but it looked pretty crappy inside. We sat on patio furniture inside. My husband’s beer glass had a large chip out of the bottom. I ordered the Mahi Mahi caprese. The fish was way overcooked. Parts were rock hard. The sauce on the spaghetti noodles was very thick. I’m not sure why there were really thick slices of roma tomatoes on top covered in a vat of pesto. It didn’t taste good either. I thought about turning around and walking out when I saw the place. I wish I had.

There are 2 things that lead to disappointment. Unrealized expectations or unrealistic expectations. In this case, I think it’s fair to say I was expecting better. I’d never been to Ashland Midtown Pub before, but from what exposure I did get, I thought the place was going to be… well, different. To be fair, I was very comfortable and felt the place looked very… cool. If I were still a drinking man, I’d really enjoy a very cold beer here on a hot day like today. I met an old friend here for lunch on a Saturday. The place wasn’t too busy, and I was surprised that the bartender was saddled with all the tables and the bar during a Saturday lunch. She was certainly capable however, although our drinks(water) could have been refilled a little more frequently. I was using a groupon, as that was the only way anyone would ever get me to spring for a 12 inch 16 dollar pizza. I got the Opa!!! which had a great crust and an interesting assortment of toppings. For some reason, the brown olives surprised me, although they’re clearly listed on the menu. Those were a little salty for my taste. Now, overall, the pizza wasn’t bad, but to me, it just wasn’t any better than a frozen World Table or Sam’s Club pizza. Worth about 5 to 7 bucks, tops. But, I didn’t have to open the box or bake it and heat up my house, so it’s probably worth a little extra — but certainly not 16 bucks. That’s the only reason they only get 3 stars. It’s fair to say that gourmet ingredients are wasted on me. I like good food, but I think I’ve got the palate of a goat. If you’re okay with frozen pizza, then I think this place might not be for you if you’re picking up the check. If you’re one of those foodie types who can taste the difference between a fresh strawberry and a frozen one after it’s been blended into a smoothie, than you might be better able to appreciate this place. Is it worth going again for me? Sure — as long as I have a groupon and remember to avoid the salty olives. Hope this helps you choose wisely.

We visited this place for lunch. We ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs and the White BBQ Chicken Po-boy, which came with a side of potato chips. Both were excellent. The po-boy had just the right amount of onions, sauce and chicken. My wife thought the spaghetti was a little to «saucy» but I thought it was just the right amount, as I like my spaghetti«saucy» that being said, I liked the Po-boy the best. Ashland Pub has a good selection of taps and happy hour is from 3 to 6 M-F. The service on the day we visited was great. Crystal couldn’t have been anymore attentive, she was GREAT! I will definitely return. I’m sorry it took me so long to eat at this place because I’ve been missing out.

Terrible Experience, Bartender was ice cold, didn’t know how to make simple drinks, had to struggle to get drinks, nobody ever came back to our table, they were out of pizza doe??? Really so we didn’t eat, this place is as big as a master bedroom, way to small to be a bar and restaurant. you can barely move to go to the restroom, that is almost in the kitchen. Dont waste your time. its like nobody knows what’s going on!!!

Went for Sunday brunch. It was supposed to be a jazz brunch till 2pm. Got there at 1:15. There was no jazz, didn’t really care, but asked for brunch menus and was told brunch was over. I was pretty bummed because that’s what we were there for. They have a lot of pizza. Mah. I’ve heard from other people that it’s good but I could care less about pizza so… They had a special, which was fish encrusted with pecans served over risotto. It was good but a little bland. My husband had a pasta dish that was also lacking substance but overall tasted ok. I might be willing to try this place again but if I go for brunch I think I will call first to see if they are planning to end it early.

Went for lunch, food was just ok, but definitely nothing special. The service however was extremely slow(although it wasn’t for lack of effort by the lone server) and it was a good thing we weren’t in a hurry.

I was in town to see the folks and take in a little Mardi Gras Mobile Style(yep, just in case you were wondering — Mobile, Al was first — sorry New Orleans). Anyway, we decided to check out the Friday evening parade and as usual, all of the restaurants filled up downtown. With some excellent navigation skills by this guy, we ended up in the Mid Town-ish area. We passed by this place called Ashland Pub — the parking lot was full, but we decided to brave the crowds. It’s a really small place, but fortunately someone was leaving when we arrived. I would say Gastropub exactly, but it’s about the closest description that I can come up with. They have a fair amount of regional brews(probably could expand that a little) and fair amount of wine selections. They do have $ 2PBR — that’s pretty freakin awesome. The major theme of the restaurant aspect is pizza/Italian. We had a few people with us that night, so we opted for 2 pizzas — Cheeseburger(I was personally in a very cheesy mood) and the Mediterranean Shrimp. Both pizzas were excellent! The waiter said that the Cheeseburger was their cheesiest pizza and that was no lie. I think it went well with the chunks of burger. Pesto and shrimp are always a winning combo in my book(just a tad bit too salty) and that combo went well with the thinner more«brick oven» type of crust(I’m sure they don’t have a brick oven, but somehow they pulled it off nicely). Pricing was not bad at all — both large pizzas were price in the lower $ 20 range. The service was a little on the slow side, but like I said — it was busy. Overall, a great post parade experience. Next time I am in Mobile visiting the folks, I will be back!

When I first heard of Ashland, I had dreams of a dark hole-in-the-wall joint that served regular pub grub. I was quite surprised to find a pretty lively, bright joint that looked more like a bistro/café than a pub. We seated ourselves and glanced over the menu. They had me when I saw that they stocked the bar with PBR! Not many places in Mobile carry it. I ordered the Conecuh and Chicken Po-Boy and my Girlfriend ordered the Mahi-Mahi angel hair pasta dish. It did take quite awhile for the food to come out but we expected that since the little space was packed out. When we got the food, we went to work. The Po-Boy was what you expected it to be. Imagine a grilled provolone cheese sandwich on french bread with cuts of conecuh sauage and grilled chicken. Wasn’t mind-blowing but not bad either. The dish that did blow our minds was the Mahi-Mahi dish. My girlfriend is one of those non-adventurous types, she always gets pasta no matter where we go because its a safe bet for her. She said this was the best pasta he has ever had. The fish was cooked to perfection. The noodles weren’t overcooked or rubbery. The fish, tomato and cheese combo was on point. It was so good! All-in-all, a great visit for us. We saw that they had an extensive pizza menu but we wanted to wait til next visit to try that out. Ashland is a great spot to enjoy food and conversation.
