Before you see three stars and get to thinking that this is a place that you might want to stay at, you might want to keep reading. Before I moved to Mobile, I had arrangements to move into an apartment that was supposed to be ready when I arrived. Well, a few days before I was to leave for Mobile, I was told that my apartment would not be ready for about another week. I absolutely had to be in Mobile to take a two day long(and $ 800) test. There was no way that I could delay my arrival. So, I wanted to(an my finances needed me to) find a place that would not cost $ 100 per night, as I would be staying there for a week. I also thought that it would be a great convenience to have a kitchen. My mother told me about Value Place, as she had stayed in one previously. I made the reservation online, which was easy. Checking in was not much of a problem. But, let me just get this out of the way and out of my system so that I don’t ever have to complain about it again. Sorry to anybody who may be offended by this, but in general, there is a pretty severe lack of customer service in the south. I’m not even expecting anybody to go above and beyond, I just cross my fingers any time that I may be dependent on somebody to just do the job that they get paid to do. Also, people move SLOOOOOWWWWW down here. But, in the defense of all of who move at slower than a snail’s pace, if you are an uptight northerner with a get-it-done type of attitude that cannot be controlled as I am, you will be the gross sweaty mess that I am all the time. This heat and humidity is brutal! The only reason that this review deserved that my venting was because it was the thing that I dreaded most about moving to the south, and it turned out to be the thing that greeted me when I arrived. However, it is also the thing that I encounter each and every day that passes that I’m here. Anyways, the cost was only $ 230(that includes tax and all the other fees). They take an additional $ 100 as a deposit, but you get that back if you don’t destroy anything. There is a kithen, minus an oven. There are not other appliances(coffee maker, toaster, etc.) or dishes/silverware, so you have to bring your own. They give you one roll of toilet paper, and then you are on your own(which I found out the hard way). They clean one time per week. Internet is $ 10 per week. They have coin operated washers and dryers. Another big plus for me was that the room was big enough to hold all of my possessions(I arrived with a large SUV that was packed tight), and still give me room to move around. Bottom line, the ammenities are not overwhelming, but that is how they keep costs down.
