Some of the meat was thawed completely. Employees found that the chiller under the meat tray had never been switched on. An employee said it was safe to eat. No thanks. It was eventually replaced, but it appeared that the same tray and tongs were used, not having been sanitized. Nasty. Not coming here again.

I went to this restaurant today for lunch with my preschool-aged son. When I inquired about a children’s meal, I was told that they did not offer children’s meals during lunch, only for dinner. A bit confused, I asked why and was it because they didn’t usually have customers with children for lunch. The server assured me that children ate there for lunch but that parents must share with them. She didn’t know why they didn’t offer a child-sized portion other than that’s the way the owner likes it. I asked her to please communicate with the owner that a children’s-sized portion on the lunch menu would make it so that I felt comfortable coming back; otherwise I would, of course, choose to go to a restaurant that offers a meal at a portion and price for children. After some talking and explaining that my son and I have different tastes and dietary needs, couldn’t share the same food, and we only wanted one bowls worth of food, we worked out something that would work. I put both of our food in one bowl, his on top and mine on the bottom. It would be cooked separately once I got to the grill. And I would not take anything to-go. With this understanding, I got a bowl, filled it, and waited in line to have it cooked. The man cooking, Ray, was a co-manager with the server. She and I had spoken with him about the meal and although he spoke rudely to both her and to me, he understood and agreed to cook the food separately. Once I got to the front of the line, he grabbed the bowl from my hand, and walked over to the grill. From there, he began to yell at me that he couldn’t do it, he wasn’t going to get written up over me and glared at me with extreme distaste. I looked at him, stunned and embarrassed, before then looking at the other customers behind me in line. They avoided my eyes or looked at me quickly before looking away as though they had seen this happen here before and just wanted to get there giant bowls of food to-go and leave. I was mortified. As I glanced at the filthy counters in front of me, thought about the fact that I had had to clean the backs of the chairs at our table because they were too sticky to touch, I regretted bringing my son there. Ray was starring at me, so I asked him to just put the chicken and noodles that were on top of the bowl on the grill and to please give me the rest of the bowl back to put a little sauce on it. He shook his head and acted disgusted as he did so. After having to stand there and be treated so rudely, I took the food to my table, took several deep breaths, and ate. The food tasted good. The server was very kind and I left a generous tip for both her and Ray. After this experience, I understand why people go this restaurant, and it is NOT for the service. The food was good and fresh, but the service was offensive. If you like the food enough to brave the service, more power to you. But if you prefer a pleasant dining experience, go somewhere else.

First off, I would like to say the food here is pretty good. They have a nice selection of toppings and meats. The cooks here are also very pleasant and recommends sauces and other things to add idled you’re a complete newbie. My complaint lies in the waiting service. I came here with family on Veterans Day and the place is pretty busy. In the middle of our meal, I asked for our drinks to be refilled. After waiting for fifteen minutes, I figured she forgot about us and walked up to the counter to ask again. A customer from another table followed suit and just brought their glasses to be filled. I asked for the drinks and she barely looked at me and said give me second. I sat back down. At this point everyone’s glasses in our table is empty. We had to wait another ten minutes and when she brought out the pitcher, she didn’t apologize or anything. Since she was by herself, I would understand being short staffed and being overwhelmed but the very least thing you could do as a server is be nice and apologize especially since we had to ask twice and waited almost half an hour just to get drinks. I hope the business would address this because they could lose customers due to the crappy service.

Food is pretty good. But if you only get one bowl, you pay the same amount as the 400lb person next to you who ate 10. And you can’t have a to go box if you get a second bowl. I understand the concept of buffet style restaurant, but come on.

The food is pretty good… prices a lil high but they do have all you can eat so that makes sense. The girl working the tables was not very friendly. she sees us standing there with 2 babies and I had to ask for a table. She took her time… and did not bring us drinks or a highchair. I had to go get the highchair and my husband had to go ask for refills. I’d give a better review if they had better customer service.

There needs to be a NO star for this plave, this place is sadly the nastiest place I have ever walked in to. NO greeting, dirty and the high chair was sticky even after I wiped it down with a wet wipe. We got in line and the people in front of us must of been there first time in a public restraunt, had so much noodles in his bowl decided it was a great idea to use HIS hands to put some of it back, Disgusting… Over all we stayed for 20 minutes and just left. Its sad was looking forward to eating there. Well not any more!

I would give 0 stars if possible. We came in a Tuesday night with 6 people. The restaurant was empty yet every table was dirty. The buffet area was a disaster with veges and noodles everywhere. The sauces were all either empty or the oils were spilled everywhere. Then there was the staff. They acted like they couldn’t care less. We had to go to the counter for refills, they never cleared any plates and the same tables were still dirty when we left. I’m honestly shocked this place hasn’t been closed down due to unsanitary conditions. We will never go back and will tell everyone about this horrible place.

The service was very friendly here. The food was not bad but the rice was dry and stale and the noodles we’re over cooked, but besides that the food had great taste. I would definite advice the restaurant manager to work on the noodles, they aren’t suppose to be mushy.

Love being able to add what I want and then watch them cook it right in front of me. I really appreciate that they lay where there ingredients come from, most local. Best food ever. Soup is delicious also. Quick friendly service.

Everyone is complaining about how messy the counters are, but I bet you they are half the reason why. People come in and try to fill their bowl sky high and drop veggies and noodles everywhere. There is no way the staff can keep up the cleaning with so many customers, without getting in the way. Honestly, it doesn’t matter as long is the food is fresh and tasty. Which it is. I’m a super picky person. I hate almost everything. But I do love broccoli and beef stir fry. It’s great because I can add as much beef as I want! The sauce customization is great too. You can get the same meat and veggies everytime, use a different sauce combo and it tastes completely different. It’s a bit overpriced to do take out. It costs $ 9.15 for one bowl to go or you can pay $ 10.25 for unlimited refills and eat there. They should really give more incentive to buy to go, perhaps taking off a few bucks.

Visited GK Mongolian a few days ago and have been wanting to try this type and style of food for awhile which is why it was a shame that I did not enjoy the experience. Me and my significant other walked in with the intention of sharing a bowl as we have heard from friends that portions are pretty big. When the main guy behind the counter came up to us right before our food was to be grilled he came up to us and stated that we might as well get another bowl if both of us are eating as we would be charged for two either way. I feel this was incredibly rude and tasteless. No where did it state that rule in view to notify the customers. Now that I look back we should have left the full bowl of food on the counter and left. Egg drop soup was good but cold. Egg roll was good as well as the rice even though it was cold. Besides the previously stated items the food was okay. I’d consider going back to try different combinations and give it a second chance. Edit: placed food at a table by the window and was told our table was elsewhere. I thought it was a bit odd that we couldn’t pick where we sat.

Good food you get to make your own meal here. Fresh veggies. UNLIMITED buffet style, and kids 5 and under free. Very friendly attentive staff considering they are not servers so to speak. Pile it on high the meat and veggies shrink. I recommend lots of sauce, at least 1 serving of cooking oil and wine. Combination is endless! Good hours too.

We went for dinner on a friday early evening. Upon walking in, a waitress/waiter will great you and explain the process to making your meal. She will also reserve a table for you, so it is ready by the time you are done with the meal line. You grab a bowl and fill it with meat(there was a choice of beef, chicken, or turkey), then veggies(about 10 to choose from), and noodles. Then there are about 10 different sauces. They recommend you mix a few together. I noticed many people OVERFILLING their bowls, because it really cooks down. However, because people over fill their bowls, the place looks very messy with noodles all over the ground and counter. The atmosphere is casual. It is all you can eat and 10 dollars for each person at dinner time. This includes a couple appetizers they give you(wontons, and some sort of biscuit). Overall this place is good for the price, however I wish it was cleaner and more attended to(or provide bigger bowls so there is less mess. The bowls are actually quite small).

Genghis Khan is still alive at this place. Took my family out to this place, because of the«Kids Eat Free» sign. Well much to my amazement, The place was a mess! Food all over the place. There were 6 of us eating. 2 adults 1, 9 year old 1, 5 year old a 15 month old and a new born. They tried putting us in at a table ment for 3 little people. When we asked for a bigger table the lady said only 3 of you are eating. WTF. What does that have to do with it? Does she want us to leave our kids in the car while we eat? Well after much debate we got a bigger table. But when we got the bill. She charged us for 4 adults and 1 child. I had to explain there own prices to them. Well I could not believe this lady. She was extremely rude! But the food was good. That was the only good thing. Needless to say. We will never be going back or never recommend this place. NEVER!

The service, cleanliness, and staff are wonderful. While the place gets pretty hopping in the evenings, things still run smoothly. I recommend coming in just before dinner if you are in a hurry. If no hurry, come whenever and enjoy yourself. I especially like the chalkboard on the wall listing the produce items and where they come from. Almost everything is sourced locally, a rare occurrence I’ve found.

When we decided to take my cousin here for a going away dinner, I wanted to turn around and walk back out. It was very busy and very messy with food everywhere. After thinking it was just the careless ppl that was eating I reconsidered. The food was good especially for the price. SUGGESTION: give out trays to help prevent inconsiderate messy pigs that get their bowls of food. SUGGESTION #2: FIRE the rude tall cook. He has no business working with the public. The shorter young man was good. SUGGESTION #3: hire at least one person to keep the floors and counters clean and train all workers to do that as well when not either cooking or it has slowed down. We would come back and maybe see if there is maybe a better crew working next time. At least I could see what they were doing with my food. I might be afraid to see the prep space in the back. That is a bad thought.

GONOW! Quite possibly one of the best Mongolian buffets within one hundred miles. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Mongolian food, you can put anything that you desire into a bowl and the chefs will fry it up for you on the spot. You can basically customize your dinner to your exact standards instead of making tons of substitutions like at a normal restaurant. Lets review! SERVICE: There never seems to be more than one waitress working at a time, but they are always extremely quick to greet customers, take drink orders, and set up seats. I always order water with no ice, which every waitress in the world gets wrong. Not at GK Mongolian! Nice work. A busboy is continuously cleaning the self serve area and stocking fresh items. Cooks are fast and courteous. FOODQUALITY: Surprisingly fresh. I will admit that from the exterior of the building that I was a bit apprehensive about eating here at first, but everything looks very delicious when raw tastes absolutely amazing when cooked. Like I said, the busboy always seems to be restocking the items with fresher selections. You also get rice, an egg roll, and egg drop soup with your order, but that is basically filler food. I go straight for the meat and don’t waste my time with that stuff. The only thing that I would change is for them to increase the vegetable options. There are 4 meats to choose from, noodles, about 10 veggies, and about 10 sauces. Some other places have around 15 different veggies. No big deal for me really, but it is something for them to think about if they want to expand their business. PRICE: $ 6.95 for lunch for a single bowl, add $ 2 per extra bowl, first bowl can be taken home. Dinner is around $ 10 or so for all you can eat with no take out option. The pricing is fairly average, but I thoroughly enjoy the option of taking home my lunch bowl. Most other places charge the same price but absolutely forbid removal of your food, even when it is not the buffet dinner. GK is «keepin it real.» AMBIANCE: Average Asian/American hybrid style dining environment. Lots of tables, lots of windows. Nothing to complain about. There are usually a ton of people during lunch when I go, so the line can take awhile to freshly cook the bowls for the customers, but the wait is never so bad that I want to leave. Overall, I feel confident my Five Star analysis of this restaurant. If you want great Mongolian food then this is the place to go! They are opening a second location in Roseville, so whenever I drive up to the Sactown I will be able to patronize this fine establishment!
