Great management, you get helped once you walk in the door. Very clean rooms and there are plenty of them so you dont have to wait. Great prices. Never had an issue I walk in give my name, tan, and leave(I bought a package). What more can you ask for?

I used to go here in high school and the management was terrible. I would come during the day to find the doors locked even tho the sign outside said they should be open. This happened more than five times, which is annoying considering I didn’t live right around the corner. So I vowed to stop wasting my time with this place. I recently started coming back to this tanning salon, after over five years of avoiding tropical fantasy. And I LOVETHECHANGESTHEYHAVEMADE. the staff is friendly and professional. The beds are clean and there are many levels to choose from. And the best part is… I’ve never shown up to find the doors randomly locked at 2pm on a weekday. I enjoy coming here after work and find the prices reasonable. Keep up with these changes!

Okay, okay, maybe on the surface, I’m your stereotypical Italian-American: I like to work out at the gym, all of my life I have taken a bridge(and now a tunnel) to get to Manhattan, and I also tan periodically. My first few visits to Tropical Fantasy were nothing short of wonderful. For a reasonable price(which averaged out to about $ 8 per tan after tax), I could get a little bit of extra color during the fall and winter months and rock out to Led Zeppelin, which would be blasting inside of the tanning booth. All was good. On my most recent visit, however, I had my intelligence and my ability to do simple math challenged. I went to the Booth School of Business [1]; my brain is wired like an Excel spreadsheet and all of the math I’ve done of late has multiple Greek letters or is multivariate regression… I hope I can do basic arithmetic… I wanted to purchase a tanning package, which cost $ 34 pre-tax. Instead, I was charged $ 38 pre-tax — and after tax, was charged $ 44 some odd dollars. I brought this to the manager’s attention, and he insisted that it was tax. I tried explaining to him once more that he erroneously over-charged me on the base price of the tan. Instead, this guy rudely took it upon himself to speak over me loudly as he once again re-iterated that there were two taxes. «Yes, they’re printed on the receipt, but you’re missing the point…» as I motioned over to him to actually listen to me rather than speak over me. I understand that we all make mistakes; but if you’re going to talk over me, not actually listen, and then say in the history of your company that you’ve never issued a refund on a credit card, then you’re flat-out arrogant and need to be taught a lesson in customer service AND humility. He begrudgingly gave me $ 5 back in cash to cover the over-charge and associated tax. I had also wanted to rent eyewear [2] prior to giving the manager a lesson in math. He was holding a pair of blue goggles, which he put down when I explained how addition works. Before heading back to the tanning booth, I asked for my eyewear. «I handed you a pair of goggles,» he said. «No, you didn’t,» I replied. «Yes, they were blue and I handed them to you,» he snipped, in a tone that implied that I stole his goggles. Really, do I look like I want to steal your Made-in-China rental goggles? In an effort to deny culpability, he shook his head and handed me a pair of black rental goggles. It is not often that I post a one-star review and in general, when I do have criticism for a business, I try to state so in a manner that is devoid of emotion and be as objective as possible. I am all in favor of supporting local businesses, but if I am going to be treated poorly and dismissed for making an inquiry regarding an error, and then treated as though I am a thief, then I will search for another establishment to spend my money(even if it means driving from Peekskill all the way to New Rochelle). Customers are the lifeblood of your business, bringing you much needed revenue to keep you afloat; you would be well-served to treat your customers well to ensure that they return. [1] Top MBA program in the world, according to The Economist. [2] This place charges 50 cents for a set of Wink-Ease. Most tanning salons(the nice ones in Manhattan, at least) give these to you for free.

I used to go here when I was in high school and I go once in a while now as well; although it is currently under new management. Let me just say– the old owner was by far MUCHBETTER. The new owner actually works at the front desk, and when she does; –expect to be waiting for her to get off the phone before she acknowledges you –don’t expect to be able to see when you come in, especially through the back door because she doesn’t turn the lights on(and you’re left klutzing in the dark to find the front) –and then it takes her 10 to 15 minutes to figure out the computer EVERY.TIME. I’m there The prices are more reasonable than some other salons in the area I’ll give them that for sure, but I don’t appreciate the lack of specials or monthly rates. Every salon has at least a few specials going on, and not just buy 10 get 1 free. I’m also convinced the bulbs haven’t been changed in the beds in probably 8 months or more because my base color has not changed, even though I’m using a level four(not to mention I spent $ 111 on my tan«package» too.) Overall, if this new manager doesn’t pick up the pace and learn her own computer system, or to simply smile at the customers; this place is going down. Last few times I’ve come for a tan, I have been the only one, at a usually busy time of the day. Hoping this place improves and fast.
