Unfortunately the last two times we were there, Papa wasn’t cooking, and the food was not nearly as good as usual. But it was still OK and at least they have half and half and decent jelly now. In future I’ll take pains to go only when he’s there, if we go back. Breakfast is so easy and cheap to cook at home that I can’t stand paying high prices for it, unless it’s really good. Consistency is crucial in restaurants of any kind… better training for the substitute cooks maybe?

As we were site seeing, we did a search for what to eat in this area. Frank’s café popped up and we read the reviews. it sounded worth giving the place a try. It’s a little dive on the side of the highway. We have always said that tiny dives usually serve the best food. This still stands true with Frank’s café. The food was delicious! We got fast friendly service, and the waitress was friendly and good. The portion that you get is big enough for two people, so come with a big appetite. I recommend this place for a good meal.

The best place in the area for breakfast. Great food, great prices, fantastic staff… all family. If you haven’t been there you are in the minority.

A restaurant run by a Greek family ought to have a good gyro and Frank’s didn’t disappoint. I’ve never seen a gyro made with chicken but it sounded good so I gave it a try. Crispy breaded chicken breast in a gyro? Pretty damn good, actually. Tzatziki sauce is homemade of course. Service was timely and very friendly. No clutter or garish tchotchkies to gather dust and grime. It was apparent they like to keep it clean. Worthy stop next time I’m bombing 49 on the motorcycle.

We stopped here on the way home from a long weekend trip, we were starving! All I can say is, «wow» breakfast was spectacular, omelette, eggs, home fries and bacon cooked to perfection. Didn’t expect to have food this good. We also tried the BLT and again, spot on fantastic. We are very picky eaters and this place filled all the stars with quality, service. We will definitely come back here again! Loved this place. Oh and they make their own Ranch Dressing which is awesome!!!

It’s nice to have a place that’s in the valley springs area(not totally in the area-but we can’t be picky!) that has good food and friendly staff. The pancakes are really good. The bacon is thick and not over cooked. The only reason they got 4 stars is I had to ask for a coffee refill. Other than that I have been there before and I’ll definitely be going back. I haven’t been disappointed yet!

If you are ever driving on the 49 and you want to stop for a great breakfast go here. You get real great portions and the food tastes great. The ambience is not fancy but you will enjoy the food. They really should provide a coat hanger and a balloon for a homemade angioplasty when you leave. I recommend you check this place out!

Solid basic American Diner fare. I’ve only been in for breakfast which has always been good, but not outstanding. Décor is a bit long in the tooth. Service the times I’ve been there has been a bit on the slow side.

Had a beef melt sandwich and soup for lunch here. Sandwich was great and the home made minestrone soup hit the spot!

We stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday fairly early morning because it was the first place we ran into. Pleasant Surprise! Nice, fast service, meal served hot, and everything very good… not your namby-pamby Belgian waffle but a delicious regular small-square waffle served with 4 strips of bacon. Husband had a great tasting omelet served with DELICIOUS home fries… best I’ve had in I don’t know how long. Plus the meal was so big we can make a second breakfast out of the leftovers. Will definitely be back, and you should go too!

Met the in-laws for brunch. Food was«A-OK;» hence the 3 star rating. My only complaint would be the lack of paper seat covers in the restroom. I can’t remember the last time I went into a public restroom and there was no dispenser for paper seat covers. We ladies demand paper seat covers!

Accurately recommended by a local as having the best chicken-fried steak in the area. Huge portion of hash browns. Everyone is eager to please. Not overly air conditioned like too many places. Our very nice and friendly server is working hard on perfecting her English. I’d definitely go back.

I don’t get the reviews! We’ve been a few times, first time, it was hotter than heck outside… walked inside… same temp inside! …Went for breakfast, cold as crazy outside, same damn temp IN! Service, eh — everyone seems grumpy. Didn’t see much re: locals(no one seemed to know anyone else or greet anyone). I ordered a veggie omelet, came with canned mushrooms… big pet peeve of mine. My son didn’t like his french toast, it was underdone. Coffee — weak, bacon thin, honestly, we went back a second time because of location. next time, we’ll try Mok Hill/Hotel Leger — hopefully that will be better.

I loved my breakfast. We walked to Franks from Hotel Leger it only took 10 minutes. Everthing was great and portions were large, almost too large. Pancakes are wonderful and so were the potatoes. We will go back again soon.

Great«greasy spoon» in the gold country. It’s family run, and owned. Nuff said. If you’re a local, they treat you like family too. If you’re not a local, they will tolerate you(joking). So, you have to go in more often so they will treat you like the locals! The food is typical short-order grease based American cuisine. The omlettes are always stuffed full and their potatoes are crunchy and fresh. I have had salad there, and it was so-so. If you want to truly experience Frank’s, order something that will be cooked on the grill. Just about every breakfast item will come out fairly quick, even on a busy day. Lunch items tend to take a tad longer. Their chili is great, though I don’t eat it much because it has meat, and I’m not a big meat eater. But if you are a vegetarian, get a grilled cheese or a breakfast item, it will definately fill you up and leave you lethargic and patting your tummy while you tell yourself«I’ll never eat that much again…» Their coffee is strong and keeps on coming before your cup is empty. You can also order tea if it is more to your liking. Take a walk on the wild side and order jalepenos on your omlette! Yummy!

I must say the other reviews are spot on for this place, the food is good and filling. The staff is friendly as well. It was neat to see the 4 generations working together. I recommend this place if you are in the area, it us worthwhile.

Family run & owned diner that has the BESTCOUNTRYFRIEDSTEAK! The home fries were the best I’ve had, and I’m not a fan of home fries. The friendly servers were members of the family(daughters) and they were so accommodating! I was NOT friendly at that age, and it was adorable to see them enjoying what they do. My B.F. had the pancakes, and they were THEBESTPANCAKES I have EVER had in my entire LIFE!(and yes, I’m yelling). This little random off the highway restaurant is a life saver. Thank you Frank and your wonderful family!
