Food is always fantastic and the carry out/pick up is wonderful! I order it all the time when family visits because it is their favorite Chinese Food, and they do not have anything this great around Westmont.

All I can say is that this is one of the best places on the south side. Love their egg rolls, beef fried rice and orange chicken. Their ingredients are fresh and perfectly seasoned. I’ve eaten their food for years and will continue to do so. Highly recommend it.

We keep going in the hope it will be better next time, it doesn’t get better. My food was over cooked, rice gummy. The egg rolls were blistering hot and greasy. I could live the rest of my life and never go back. This used to be pretty good place to eat, something happened, it’s gone down hill.

I have been here several times since my last review. Consistently great is the way they roll here! For the first time ever they got one item on my carry out order wrong. We ended up with some kind of a chicken dish which may have been with a tangerine sauce. I cannot identify it for sure. The chicken itself was very good as was the bed of steamed brocolli it came on. The rest of my family did not care for the sauce but they are not as accepting of something outside their comfort zone. As for me I am more of the common sewer. Yes i meant t say that. This is still the best Chineese food around maybe outside of Chinatown.

I’ve been enjoying the food from Rising Sun in Mokena for at least ten years. It is always delicious and tastes really authentic. This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant. I’m always craving the food from here while I’m away at school, and i MUST eat here whenever I’m in town. Rising Sun is definitely a gem in the small town of Mokena. I recommend the pot stickers, chicken and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, veggie egg rolls, and mongolian beef, and crispy noodles.

This was my 1st time here I found it on Unilocal while visiting my dad. It was really really great old school Chinese food. Everything was excellent! Get any combo meal with soup, egg roll, main dish and cookies. Great food great value…

Super Clean place and awesome egg rolls. I love Chinese food and this place is at the top of my list. I am not sure if they make their own egg rolls but I have not had another one like it. They are not your typical pre made egg roll they are thick flavorful and you can actually see the shrimp in them … AAA+++

Came here this past mother’s day. Ordered sweet and sour chicken, chicken egg foo young, and beef and broccoli. The person havong the egg foo young thought it was very good, but the sweet and sour chicken was anything but sweet. It was very sour and the sauce is poured over the chicken so when you get it it is very soggy. The green pepper was very under cooked. And egg rolls were very over cooked and very hard. The meat in the beef and broccoli was very dry and stringy. Asked for soft noodles and got pan fried noodles. And waitress was somewhat rude. All in all a very unpleasant dinner for 3 out of 4 people. And the bill was $ 90.00, very over priced. Chens in Tinley Park is still the best by far.

Best Mongolian beef by far! This is the only thing we get here. The meat is super tender and the sauce is delicious! Portion sizes are generous. Great asian décor. Yum!

The food here is very good, but flavors are inconsistent. The service is always very good. The pot stickers, wonton soup, and beef fried rice are all excellent! The Mongolian when it good is better than any other place, when its off it is like most other places in the area. 4 stars for the inconsistency of my favorite dish.

Just had takeout from here for the first time. Everything was great! We had Kung po chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, pot stickers. Everything was very good and was ready pretty quick too!

One very pushy waitress with emotional affect as flat as a pancake… one tag team waitress sweeter than yoohoo that makes me tip… and several water busboy guys manic about refilling water which my wife and I find hilarious. Literally we play games with putting the glasses waaaay out of his reach and he literally will refill a glass I have taken a single drink from. Free sides with the meal came before appetizer. WARNING: ALLFOODHEREISBROUGHTTOTHETABLEHOTTERTHANHELLFIRE. But flavors of food are awesome… while you are swallowing the braised pieces of your cheeks and tongue! Kung Po was sweet delight with a chestnut color sauce so glossy I want to hit the ceiling and yell, «pa-diddle»! Tangerine chicken is a special treat with real imitation tangerine sauce. Crab rangoon is delicately spiced with a mild onion flavor and real imitation krab stick bits. Egg rolls have shrunken in size recently, but are still fat rolls of cinnamony tastiness with pork, beef and little salad shrimp. The beef vegetable soup served only on Friday and Saturday is the most unique sweet, chunky broth that I could lick a bowl clean any day. I literally upended the bowl and poured the last little drops into my spoon to eat. All food here is dominated with salty sweetness so common to cantonese. This is like every other chinese food place but with better flavor. Just americanized chinese. No braised oxtail, no fish or seafood specials to speak of. Nothing unusual except what you get on every other ameri-chinese menu… just a lot better tasting. Portions for lunch are about twice what anyone should have. Dinner portions are embarassing. I am a big guy and love to eat large portions and I always have at least half my entrée to take home. We drive 30 miles out of the way to get here and I am mildly ashamed of that fact.

Service is super nice. Quality is very high –this is the only place my family will eat Chinese food in the area. The décor is traditional but classy nice. Portions seem quite large. I feel like most ppl enjoy Chinese food as take out but dining in is better: the atmosphere is nice here, the food is super hot, and you seem to get more food for the price. I love the egg rolls and subgum so I get those every time. I try something new every time I eat here –I’m pescatarian so the fact that I can do that says a lot about their options! Also, if you want something spicy but it doesn’t come that way, just ask and they will make it the way you like it! I totally recommend this place!

This is a very nice Chinese food place. Stuck out here in Mokena, it rises above most others. Since the demise of Lang Lee in Orland Park there has been a dearth of Chinese food places… Mo’s Chinese in Orland Park is nice as is this entrée in Mokena. Rising Sun recently refinished their interior so it is very nice, new, and clean. Run basically by a brother/sister combo — like many family run Chinese places — this one is fast with the food and always fresh. Our party shared chicken fried rice(nice dish), shrimp with lobster sauce(nice dish with a lot of shrimp), General Tsao’s chicken(nice large chicken pieces with a wonderful sauce), and a fish dish… I can’t remember which. All to say, the food was very nice. While Rising Sun is a tad on the expensive side, given the few alternatives for Chinese food the fare is worth it.

Kicking off 2014 with a review for a long time favorite… Rising Sun. I have been going to Rising Sun for at least 20 years now. It is my go to place for Chinese food in the area. Some of my favorites are; sweet and sour chicken, chicken and pea pods, chop suey, beef and pea pod with waterchestnuts, Cantonese chow mein and last but not least… their delicious egg roll. They have fantastic egg rolls! We tend to order carry out, but if you choose to dine in you will find very eclectic Asian décor. They offer tea and a full bar with a surprising amount of drink options. I have always had great experiences with the staff and usually find myself surprised at how quickly the food is prepared. They offer a great lunch menu as well for when you are looking to save a little money. If you are craving tasty Chinese food, Rising Sun is definitely worth a try!

I have been wanting to try this place for years. It was kind of a let down. The service was so bad that we literally were laughing hysterically at the table. I was almost crying I was laughing so hard. I couldn’t even be upset. The food was pretty average. I didn’t dislike anything. It was just average though. I actually prefer carry out from Sun-Sun in Frankfort. My mai tai was a little sweet. I don’t have that much to say about this place. It was just so average. If you really want to eat here still I would suggest not expecting great service. I don’t see a need to come back here. I will stick to carry out by Sun-Sun or drive to a real restaurant.

The food is delicious the place is just incredibly under staffed. We waited for an hour and a half just for our dinner on a Monday night.
