Every morning I crave Yi Mei. I seriously could eat here everyday. I recommend the steamed pork and veggie bun, pan fried radish cake, and salty pork roll. But everything is really delicious here and super affordable.

The soy milk is water down. Plus I ordered their pork chop noodle. The flavor is blan and the pork chop is fatty, thin cut and over fried. One and done! I’ll nevthiner come back.

Huge Tree Pastry was closed and we were desperate for some soy milk and Chinese donut. I Unilocaled the nearest place that was still open at 6pm and it brought me here. Baaaad idea. You order your food at the cashier and they bring you your food. This restaurant has more of a shop feel than restaurant feel. They sell various food products along the wall. The prices are similar to Huge Tree Pastry but the food not nearly as tasty. The hot soy milk tasted like soy milk I’ve had out of a can before. The Chinese donut was OK. We also got the smoked chicken which I had just a bite of because it was SO smoky… like having a chimney in your mouth. Ack. So gross. The only thing decent I ate was the beef shao bing. The meat was tender, moist and delicious.

I had high hopes for this place because I know exactly what taiwanese breakfast is suppose to taste and look like. it looked like it, but the taste wasn’t there. When you walk in, there’s everything you would expect in a traditional taiwanese breakfast. They had a bread section and food in the fridge that you could also purchase, along with drinks. we ordered: — salty soy milk: PASS. No flavor whatsoever — peanut milk– no flavor and the texture was very thin, it’s suppose to be thicker — tofu in soy milk type thing– no flavor either. — green onion pancake with egg– the only thing that seemed normal with flavor — beef sandwich/roll– it was okay — chinese donut– oily and greasy because it was fresh Overall, seemed like the liquid selections had no flavor whatsoever. the food was decent. make sure to bring cash because they don’t accept card. I also bought two mochi’s to go, but I haven’t tried them yet. I don’t think i would make the 40 minute trip here.

As someone who has moved to the Bay Area for the last 5 years or so, I can tell you that it is places like these that brings a tear to my eye when I get to come down to LA to visit. LA’s Taiwanese food scene simply puts its Norcal counterparts to shame its not even close(kind of similar to the Lakers and Warriors at this point). Sate your hunger here with delicious gua baos and turnip cakes, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my go-to spots when I’m craving Taiwanese breakfast. I could probably eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I took my friend here since he hasn’t tried Taiwanese breakfast before. We ordered a few of the essentials: salty rice roll, sweet rice roll, and soy milk. For those of you who don’t know, the salty rice roll comes with dried shredded pork and pickled veggies(optional and for an additional cost) whereas the sweet rice roll uses a semi-sweet peanut sauce. Upon taking a bite of each, you can detect the difference because each has a unique, but equally flavorful taste. The menu is displayed on a few TV screens by the cashier. After ordering, you take a number and they bring your dishes to you. The food and drinks come out pretty quickly. They have a self-serve area where you can get sauces, utensils and napkins. Area is pretty clean overall and they try to maintain it well. Because the store is on the small side, during peak times it can get pretty crowded and you could end up waiting a while. Overall, Yi Mei looks a bit fancier and pricing is a bit higher than some other similar restaurants in the area but quality is one of the reasons I come back. Just be sure to bring cash because it’s cash only!

Average Taiwanese breakfast place. I got the sweet soy milk, rice roll, egg omelette, and daikon cake to share with my friend. There were barely any seats on a Saturday morning but the food came out really quickly. Everything was just average, not bad but not amazing good either. I don’t live around the area so probably won’t be coming back again.

I’d never tried Taiwanese breakfast food before but after today, I’m never going back! My girlfriends and I got there at 8 on a Sunday morning and there was hardly anyone there. The restaurant is in a plaza(same one as Luscious Dumplings) so parking is a breeze. We tried the pork dumplings, rice roll, Chinese pancake, and hot soy milk. They were all DELICIOUS. Service was friendly and super fast. Our soy milk was out before we even found a table! We first got our rice roll which was my favorite. I like the crunch the Chinese donut on the inside gives, not to mention the sweet and savory taste combo was well balanced. Next, the Chinese pancake was good dipped in the garlic soy sauce they have available. Finally, the pork dumplings were so good and not too salty which has usually been the issue at other dumpling houses. The hot soy milk isn’t sweetened so I added about a spoonful of sugar and that added a good amount of sweetness for me. It tasted so fresh! Loved it. And it balanced out all the savory food we ordered. I’m definitely coming back! Oh and make sure you bring cash! :)

Tasty and affordable! For $ 5, you get a complete Taiwanese breakfast with a main item and one side. I ordered the hot soy milk(I prefer the savory version, which comes in a bowl with bits of cruller and scallions). But you can also get sweet soy, available in bowl or cup form, so no worries there! For my side, I ordered the daikon cake, which was a delicious pairing. The daikon cake has dried shrimp, and getting it fried with an egg makes it extra yummy.

First off, CASHONLY! Second, CASHONLY! We usually go to Huge Tree Pastry but we found Yi Mei through Unilocal and Unilocalers did not disappoint. The breakfast was less greasy and it really hit the spot. We ordered sweet cold, soy milk, which was a big hit with my three-years old. The rice ball was delicious. The radish pancakes were crispy. The egg omelette and fried dumplings were also delicious. It’s a bit far from where we live but we will be sure to come back here.

Good place for Taiwanese breakfast. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and clean. I recommend their pork belly bun and beef sandwich with sour pickles! And you can never go wrong with some soy milk and youtiao.

Full disclosure this is really my first earnest venture into taiwanese breakfast — so take this one with a grain of salt. I will say that I am not much of a ‘eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast” guy — and would take a good beef rice roll any morning of the week. There is nothing I ate here I did not enjoy… but I will have to dig deeper before I can really say how well Yi stacks up to the competition. The reason I chose to ‘review’ was to get the word out that you can buy frozen bags of house made soup dumplings here — if, like me, you are just never going to make your own… but are not wild about all the preservatives in ones at the market. It is also a great spot for kids– not to crowded & super family-affordable!

I got the rice roll combo with soy milk and they’re both sooo good! I love how there are so many different condiments such as chili sauce, garlic sauce, and soy sauce. The fried dough inside the rice roll was crunchy so that’s always a plus. We also got the beef roll and egg omelet. The egg omelet was thick, came in 7 pieces, and was pretty average. I also liked the beef roll, but what really stood out at Yi Mei was their delicious rice rolls and soy milk that wasn’t too sweet! Would definitely come back, but this place is very out of the way for me :(.

We usually come here for the Taiwanese breakfast. The restaurant is modern and clean. Having been here multiple times, we’ve tried a lot of the items on their menu. But what gets me coming back every time is their god damn Chinese Donuts and Rice Roll. Seriously, you’d think fried dough is the same everywhere but the Chinese Donuts that Yi Mei serves up is just insane. It’s crunchy on the outside and the inside is airy and retains the crunchiness. Gotta be the best Chinese Donuts I’ve ever had. Prior to coming here, I’ve never heard let alone eaten a taiwanese rice roll. Ever since I had my first one, I’ve been hooked. Highly recommended.

Wanted a snack. Beef Roll, Bean curd, cold Soy milk. All pretty tasty. All little grungy for a restaurant. Many friends says the food is pretty authentic Taiwanese here. They don’t speak much English but fortunately the table next to us had the same order. Must be pretty popular. So this made it easier this time. Been here a few times, consistent tasting food.

3.5 Stars I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed all the dishes I’ve tried so far. They take CASHONLY so don’t be like me and have to rely on your friend/coworker to pay for you(LOL). Their soy milk is pretty good here. I like mine cold and my friend likes hers hot. I used to drink soy milk and eat the Chinese donuts(dipped in sugar haha) as a kid so it’s kind of nostalgic. The Daikon cakes are also good, but I think they put dried shrimp in it to add flavor/saltiness. My friend is allergic to shellfish and realized it was inside after she ate a piece. The green onion pancakes are also a favorite of mine(more like a flat-bread) as well as their dumplings. The last time I came here, my friend and I shared the pork chops and a rice dish and it was plenty of food. So 2 soy milk, green onion pancake, Daikon cake, pork chop, and rice combo only came out to $ 16.00. We had to ask for a to-go box too. 99⁄100 Reviews for 2015

This was a little gem I found from Unilocaling since I was stuck at a car dealership nearby and hungry. So I stopped by here with my friend after looking at some of the delicious pictures and couldn’t resist. We ordered the fried dumplings(it was okay), juicy pork dumplings(it was okay), the salty rice roll(this was good), beef sandwich(good), and the pork sandwich(this one was my favorite because it was served on a flakey bread). They also had a variety of sauces at the sauce station where you can self-serve and take for your takeout orders. The garlic sauce was one of my favorite ones and it was good with almost everything. This was one of those places u order at the counter, pay, then they bring you the food. Since it was my first time I wasn’t aware of that. But the lady was pretty friendly and told us we had to order there. During my meal I had ordered some stuff to go as well, and I thought it was nice of the worker to leave my takeout food in the food warmer until I was ready to leave. I would come back here for the rice rolls, sandwiches, and probably try a few new items.

Quick Taiwanese breakfast food. Once in a while when I don’t crave my usual American breakfast items, I’ll go for some Asian breakfast other than dimsum. I’d give Yi Mei a visit. Good place to pick up some rice roll and soy milk(hot/cold). Note: If you order hot soy milk, it’ll come in a bowl and unsweetened. The shao long bao is decent, smaller and less juicier comparing it to DTF. I really enjoyed the daikon cake with a egg. Not such a big fan of the chinese donut and bun they have. It’s very greasy fried and hollow. Good prices. Quick service.

December 30, 2014 So yesterday, my fella took me to a Filipino breakfast spot for garlic fried rice, eggs, and longanisas with cantaloup juice. To, to return the favor, I brought hi here to try out my food. We ordered way too much. I wanted him to try everything I love. So, we ordered something he has been craving(sweetened tofu) and my peanut milk. The juicy pork dumplings, pork belly sandwich, Chinese donut-crullers, and green onion pancakes. We were such fatties! Total came out to be about almost $ 20.00 I love all, but this place cannot beat yong ho. 3.5/5.0?stars
