Stayed here for a multi day zero after the 100 mile wilderness before tackling the rest of my flip flop to Harper’s Ferry. Friendly staff and a lakeshore for going on a paddle. Pretty good hiker restock and you might be allowed to tag along to the Rangely for boots and higher end items. 5 stars for a long distance hiker hostel!

What to say about the Lake Shore House, first off Rebecca is truly the«Hostess with the mostest!» She runs one of the best pubs you’ll ever have the pleasure of visiting. From the very first time we walked in the door, we’ve been treated like family. Good food and great times are sure things at the Lake Shore House.

Awesome environment with all an AT hiker could ever hope for: — beds — highly efficient washer/dryer for $ 5 — couches — TV/movies — coffee in the AM — microwave/fridge/toaster Not to mention the fact that he staff are all about the nicest folks you will ever meet. (Larger bed upstairs not the most comfy but considering all else — who cares!)

They had quite an extensive menu and i would love to give it 3 stars. We were hungry after coming off the trail and ordered the fried cauliflower, stuffed portabello and I had the quiche. The stuffed portabello was a bit disappointing because I’m very particular with stuffing. The quiche was not bad but a bit greasy or cheesy. My bf had the all you can eat tacos(soft) but one platter(4 tacos) was good enough. The tacos were basic, a dab of ground beef, sprinkling of cheddar and lettuce and tomato. voila… It was decent pub food for a small town. Shaw’s Lodging puts this place on the map though with their all –you-can-eat pancake/eggs/bacon/sausage bkfast. We stayed at Shaws for 2 night because the place was so cute and quaint.
