Who knew there could be so many delicious choices for breakfast! Love the food, the atmosphere and the peeps.

Went last Friday for breakfast. Very cute place and pretty relaxed. Super nice server. Breakfast was SOGOOD! We had some specials — waffle benedict(i think that was the name) and french toasts filled with strawberries and nutella. Both incredibly delicious. It was our last day in Montauk but I would definitely go back!

To start off if you come to this town during the off season of slower times it’s hard not to find a good place. We come from the west coast and are bless to be in foodie heaven where we live. This place did not disappoint. First my wife had the cinnamon French toast. They use a thinner bread and that’s ok. Who wants enough bread to feed a small family as their breakfast anyway. She also orders a side of eggs. Eggs were fried correctly with a good center yolk. You can taste the freshness and not over oiled. The French toast was flavorful and nothing was over powering. Good balance. To my surprise all of it disappears! She never finishes anything unless it’s special. Good job! I had the special eggs Benedict 3 ways. Ham, prosciutto, and salmon. The prosciutto was on toasted artisan bread while the other two were on English muffins. Absolutely perfect I’m taste preparation. Amount of sauce and portions. These are not small. Had a chance to speak with the owner. He has«been here 35 years». We wouldn’t change a thing. Make sure to plan breakfast at 8am sharp in this town. I can imagine the busy season to be hectic.

Let’s start with the pros considering Montauk is beautiful Owners are very personable and nice Nice boutique to peruse clothing before you enter the restaurant. CONS Specials on the board(not on menu) don’t have prices Egg dishes including omelettes don’t come with potatoes. AREYOUKIDDINGME? So let’s play this out because it happened to me. Egg White Omelette with avocado, bacon =$ 13.99 Egg Whites=$ 1.50 up charge Potatoes= $ 3.50 Did I just pay $ 19 for an egg omelette that was diner quality at best, not big and average tasting? I know it’s out east but don’t price gouge!

Never had a bad meal there. The omelettes, huevos rancheros, pancakes are all delicious. We looked forward to going for the first time this year on Saturday of Memorial weekend and it wasn’t open yet for the day. It was 730am ??? Anyone know what time they open?

This is my favorite breakfast spot! I dream about it all winter long. Their pancakes are awesome. Bird on the roof omelette is my favorite!

Food was great! the wait almost an hour really really sucked, I’d go back again if the place wasn’t packed they need more wait staff to keep up 4 servers for over 60 people is not enough. Was a bit on the pricey side too $ 48 for two people?

Mediocre. Atmosphere is cute mom-pop style, however tables are very small and very close together(People bumping chairs as they walked by). The tip money was left on the table from the previous guests and the waitress refused to take it because she did not serve these people. Not impressed. However I ordered the eggs Benedict(an all time favorite of mine) but not at this place. I’ve had better. And as some reviews have said good things about the home fries, our tasted like the surface of an unclean greasy grill. First and last time for this place.
I would give this place 4 stars but the service was soooooo slooooowww. I was STARVING on a rainy cloudy morning, and while our group didn’t wait long to be seated or served coffee, the food took close to forever. However, it was VERY good and worth the wait. Nothing like a good breakfast, so heavy that you can’t finish. They have tons of specials, all nothing like you’ll see at a regular diner. Lots of unique choices, that will make you mouth water, just reading(unfortunate for you because it might be a while before you get the actual food). It was my only time here, so next time I’m in town, I’ll check it out and see if it was just a bad day for them. Because the food was great!

Waited 15 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes to have a waiter finally take our order, and then another 30 minutes for the food. Food was mediocre at best, coffee was not strong(people came in carrying Left Hand coffee) and they never refilled our waters the entire 1.15 hrs we were there. I had the prosciutto Benedict and it was so salty I couldn’t finish it. Boyfriend got French toast and the portion was hideously small. Don’t see a reason to ever return when there are two amazing diners nearby offering better food and better service.

Sad to give this rating because the owners are nice people. The longer we were there, the less stars they received. Whether it was the long gap after we were sat before first contact, the lack of refills(due to neglect) on any of our beverages(coffee included!), or the that our home fries were literally a no call no show. The waiter just took it off our check and failed to let us know that we were not going to receive them. Really rough/strange experience, and the food was no where near good enough to warrant that kind of service. As nice as the owners were, there will not be a next time.

Have been going to Montauk for 20 years, and was looking for a new breakfast place. Read about Bird on the Roof throuhg Unilocal, and took a group of folks there. Food was good, huge portions. Odd items to note; the tables were mini, so small that our food/drinks and guests were very crowded. There are alot of chockies around the restaurant, cute, but also dusty. Service was odd, we have 3 or 4 diferent people waiting on us and waiting a long time for simple items like water or coffee. Recommend going elsewhere.

The quality of food is appalling. The management is agressively rude. The waitress was great… Don’t waste your time and money coming here.

Best place for breakfast! My favorite’s are the prosciutto Benedict and the salmon club. Enjoy it with a nice glass of chocolate milk because this is a wholesome restaurant without alcohol. Home fries are also great. Never disappoints. I’ll see you next time :)

Came here last summer when I visited Montauk. We just started our 2nd summer trip in Montauk and I already let everyone know I definitely do not want to go back to this place. The restaurant is a bit cramped. The food wasn’t that great either. I really don’t know why this place is so popular. Most of the items we ordered were burnt or over cooked. It’s definitely not worth the wait. Stay away !!!

This place is RIDICULOUSLY, like really really ridiculously good. My wife and I make it a point to stop in for breakfast every time we are in MTK. Great service and the food… the food! If you’re planning a trip to Montauk, plan on(at least) 2 breakfasts here. First time– get the pancakes(all varieties are great), they are thin, moist, and perfect. Second time– get one of the specials. My wife got a three cheese scramble on a croissant with truffle oil, friend got stuffed French toast… Both were delectable! The three cheese scramble is just an example of the sensible creativity they use on the menu; everything worked perfectly together. We enjoy other places in town for breakfast as well, but this is the one we have to go to in MTK. Easy to find too… There is a big, steep roof with a bird on it.

I had the pancakes, which tasted all right, but here’s the thing: they were so thin the edges were crisp. Seriously, they were as thin as a sheet of paper. They gave me three but I ended up having to layer them and eat them as one so they could feel more substantial. Otherwise, service was excellent and they have a great seating area.

Bad all around experience. Somehow we were seated after all of the other groups that came after us. Food took forever to come only to find out that waiter had messed up our order(after he acknowledged the order correctly) and then he tried to bring the plate back and blame it on us and refuse to change it. After all of that, the food was mediocre and cold.

PANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKES Strawberry, Banana, Chocolate Chip Pancakes !!! OMG Service: Slowwww Other food: Huevos Rancheros –ummmm pretty gross, like a pound of cheese on it, it came out looking like a pizza, I wouldn’t order it, the Bird Omelette was huge but no real flavor. PANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKESPANCAKES I would come back and get the Pancakes only. They have an amazing little shop next to it /in it with really nice people running it and great deals. They close early for brunch 1:30pm.
