I used to love this shop. It’s owned by teachers who live in Hawaii but summer in MTK — they are not Hawaiian fyi. I kind of wish they were because then maybe they’d be friendlier. I’m turned off when I go in there now because I barely get a greeting — even if I say hello first. I used to like the stuff more but I think it depends on your taste — it’s probably a store more for middle aged/older women except younger women might enjoy some of the jewelry and fragrances. There is some stuff from Hawaii and some tropical themed accessories along with some summer basics like bandeau tops. In the back are some home items from Hawaii and some fragrance stuff like the Kai brand oils and sprays. It’s a bit over priced but what isn’t in MTK?

What is there not to love about Kailani, The tropical colored walls are bright and inviting just like the ladies that own and work here. I can shop for anyone and anything here, so awesome. Love the kids cute nautical themed clothes and my husband is always happy to see me walking in the door with a bag from here cause he knows I’ve gotten him an awesome locally designed t-shirt. This is my go-to for birthdays and last minute gifts, they always have good ideas when I am stumped. Also, love that it is owned and operated by locals.

I will never shop here again. I was a loyal patron and the store owner rudely refused to take back a pair of sunglasses that broke the same day I purchased them. I was appalled by the way I was spoken to as a customer and will never walk into the store again. What a shame — I now will make sure to tell people who head out to Montauk to avoid the place. Such a terrible taste left in my mouth. The owner could not have handled the situation in a worse way.

This is a wonderful little shop in Montauk with an incredibly kind and helpful sales staff. They were having an incredible sale, and I got a 100% sweet cap for just $ 13. I literally thought I heard long when she said the price, as this was a $ 54 item, but since the tourist season in Montauk is essentially over and the rad owner likes to rotate the merchandise(from what I could tell, mostly independent artists), and thus this was essentially a close out sale. I also bought a gorgeous dress that was a steal for $ 24, and awesome sunglasses(I have serious sunglass-finding-issues) for $ 10. This little town is lovely, but I wasn’t expecting to find much in the way of really gorgeous, independent, and stylish clothing. Because Montauk rules and is magical when it is kind of cold out(maybe it also has something to do with the outrageously cheap prices of the hotels during super-off season!), I will make sure to stop in again! I look forward to seeing what she brings in next.
