It was moday evening and after spending whole day at the acquarium we wanted something quick so headed to KFC drive through which was close by. First we waited in the drive through for 15 minutes there were may 3 or 4 cars in front of us. We backed out and went in to order. We were the second person to order, the order was delivered after 20 minutes. There were only 2 people doing everything. One at the drive through counter and the other at the register for walkin. The guy at the register(Raja) didn’t care that we waited for long he just wanted to get rid of us. If you don’t want to spoil a good day, then please don’t ever vist this place.

For the longest time, I have been dying to come back here ever since I was a kid. I was a huge fan of fish and this place served a HUGE amount for a cheap price from what I could remember. It has been nearly 10 years and I was eager to fulfill my expectations from what I had experienced before. Alas, it would seem that it has changed so much. The quantity has drastically reduced, I’m not even sure why I ordered onion rings when they came out ill-prepared, and the menu has shrank. The service seemed unorganized as the cashier was going in and out of the back to cook and prepare, leaving customers waiting in the front to be serviced with even more customers waiting for the orders in the back. It disappoints me to see this happen to Long John Silvers. I will still come back to the chain though, just not this one. The bell won’t be ringing this time.

PROS: * The food tasted as it should. It is KFC after all. * Service was prompt and courteous. CONS: * The place was nearly empty at 12:30 on a Sundays afternoon. It made me wonder what the locals knew that I didn’t. Then again, Monterey isn’t exactly a fast food kind of town.

I have been here twice and both times it took well over 20 minutes to get our food and there was no one in line ahead of us! I complained as we waited the first time, but figured maybe it was just a one time thing. WRONG. My family was in town and they wanted some KFC, so 4 of us jumped in the car and headed down. When we arrived, two tables were occupied, already eating and there was no one in line ahead of us. We ordered pretty quickly, enough for 4 adults and 3 kids: a decent sized amount of food, but nothing excessive. We began to wait… And wait… And wait… 15 minutes pass by and the cashier approaches and apologizes because the cook forgot to start cooking some of our food. She was nice enough and when I asked for free drinks for our troubles(it never hurts to ask and we knew we would end up waiting at least 20 – 25 minutes for FAST food by the time this was all over) she obliged. So we continued to wait another ten minute for our meal. It is simply not acceptable that when we are the only customers waiting for food in a fast food restaurant, that it takes that long. We discussed and came to the conclusion while waiting that they probably cater mostly to tourists who they know will only visit once so they feel no need to have good customer service. Very disappointing.

I got what I expected from this KFC. The chicken seemed fresh and very crispy. The seasonings were well done. Biscuits were also good. It is clean enough and the service is decent. Takes longer than most drive-thru places but average compared to other KFCs.

I love long John silvers chicken and hush puppies. The Monterey location did not let me down. I really can’t understand the negative reviews because the«fried» fish or chicken was greasy. Wish we had a LJS in Santa Maria. Only 4 stars as the service was a little slow.

I would give zero if it were an option. We walked in. There was one guy in front of us who had finished up ordering and was waiting for his food. We stood there and waited while 3 employees were working behind the counter on I guess what was his order, since there were no cars in the drive thru. I told my gf what I wanted, as I had to use the restroom. I come out a few minutes later and find that she still has not been waited on or acknowledged. We continue to wait what seems to be an eternity. Finally the guy waiting gets his food and the girl working the register comes over to take our order. Apparently, they can only help one customer at a time here now. We order and wait another eternity for what would turn out to be the worst food I’ve ever had at a LJS. I also ordered a side of clams, btw, but I guess the girl was daydreaming and didnt catch it since it wasnt on the receipt. What I had ordered was nasty as hell. The chicken was hard as a mofo. Crunchy, tooth breaking pieces. The fries were alright. The hushpuppies were burned. I’ve never seen them overcooked. They were gross so I passed. Overall an unfriendly staff, dirty restaurant [at least the section that we were sitting in] and janky ass food. This one goes onto the ban list.

I rarely eat at fast food places. Now I know why. On a whim, I decided to try the LJS fish, after a late night at the office, and I was famished. I give five stars to the staff, as they were pleasant. The rest went downhill from there. How silly of me to think I could be calorie conscious at a place like this. I ordered two pieces of fish, no fries and took two sides of cole slaw(knowing I’d save one for lunch the next day). I didn’t know fish came in perfect little diamond shape! Good grief. Can we say GREASY and SALTY? Even the cocktail sauce didn’t help. I found two«Hush Puppies», which is basically deep fried batter. Can we have a little more grease, please. NO thanks. The only thing I did like is the KFC Slaw. I’ve always loved that slaw! No wonder our nation has one of the highest rates of obesity. This is a heart attack in a box. Nasty, nasty… I hate wasting food but fish piece #2 got tossed. What a waste of food. Watch the movie«Food Inc.» What was I thinking!!!

Renovated KFC&LJS, a good thing. Clean environment, reasonably priced products, bucket o’ chicken with cole slaw or fried seafood is a quick fix for the hungry. Of course, it is an easy meal for families or group gatherings, too. Enjoy!

Devouring basketfuls of homemade potato chips in Idaho, guzzling Magnums of small batch production wine with friends, or smoking an occasional handrolled cigar do not count as guilty pleasures in my book. Weinerschnitzles however tops my list of guilty pleasures and KFC tied for 3rd alongside BK(heart Jr. Whoppers no cheese) until tonight. Shopping at Marshalls is #2. I’m the kind of girl that loves to mix her mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and sometimes corn at Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. So you would think I would be stoked about this new(as of 2 years ago) Chicken/Mashed Potatoes/Corn/topped w/gravy and shredded Cheddar Cheese bowls at KFC. Well I finally tried one tonight, the snack sized portion that is($ 1.99 on their value meal) and boy was I dissapointed. Not only was everything lukewarm but the bite sized chicken pieces were borderline cold. They were actually quite tasty, a little on the saltier side but heck who doesn’t love a little salt? Not only was it not warm, but they had poured way too much gravy that the lid didn’t close properly and I found this out the hard way as I was pulling it out of the bag. My hand was covered in the sauce. I would have licked it off… if it was hot enough. Finding a decent sized piece of iceberg lettuce in the concoction was the kicker. Not lovely! Also got 2 bicuits($ 0.99) a great deal but they didn’t give me any margarine/butter! I asked for honey(4 packets whcih were covered in honey and obvi sticky on the outside) but didn’t think I had to ask for margarine. I mean I carry everything in my car. A couple changes of clothes, shoes, ½ case of wine, 2 wine openers, Wet Ones, Clorox Wipes, a case of Smart Water and a bottle of vodka at any given moment but butter/margarine not so much. I’ve got to say KFC is no longer one of my guilty pleasures. I’ll have to replace it with something else. 1 star for the charismatic young fellow at the drive thru window. Hey, it’s not his fault that the food was cold.
