Elegant Garden Nursery

Fantastic place, nice staff and managers, good selection. We go here first, then head down the street. *It changed hands this past year, so there’s been some changes and shifts if you last went a year ago. (So, in other words, ignore posts older than 2015…*) Most importantly, the prices are great for great plants that you are not going to find at any Home Depot. Down the road (towards/​in Simi) is also another huge nursery, but they carry different plants and prices. They also do regular pottery sales at this nursery.

I picked up some ground mulch yesterday for my front yard. I explained to them I needed red ground cover mulch for landscaping. The gentleman took me over to the area where they keep their mulch /​bark. I asked him if the red material was ground cover and he told me it was. I went back to the office and paid for the material. I showed the worker my order and he loaded the back of my truck with the red mulch /​bark material. I came back a couple of hours later needing the same material and paid for two more scoops. But when I showed the worker my order he told me it was for the lesser stuff which I found interesting since I had two other employees tell me that the red material was in fact the bark /​mulch material. This was a difference of $ 80. I wish the employees had more knowledge of their material so it wouldn’t have been so confusing and maybe I would have gone somewhere else to get my supplies.

Went in looking for two particular trees. GRANT assisted me. What a delight he was articulate and most helpful. Took me directly to the locations and picked two beautiful plants out for me. It was such a pleasure getting great service on a very warm day outside in the scorching heat. I most definately will return again. He was so helpful

Best experience at a nursery… seriously!!! We were able to look around ourselves using their golf cart which made it so fun and convenient! When we had a question, a staff member was always nearby! Grant, Bonny and Carrie were beyond helpful! We are doing the rebate program with SoCal Watersmart and Elegant Gardens had every low water/​drought tolerant plants, shrubs and trees we wanted at great prices… GO HERE you won’t regret it!

I had been here before and purchased some plants and landscape gravel when I first moved to Moorpark about 3 years ago. The staff was helpful and friendly at that time. I also noted what they had there should I need anything else. Fast-​Forward to about a month ago. My in-​laws were in town visiting from Las Vegas, and were looking for a statue of some sort for their new home there. We arrived in my truck and began to browse around. After about 10 minutes or so someone came out to ask us what we were doing there. I told them that we were looking for a statue or other thing that could go in a yard. He told us we needed to leave immediately unless we could produce our contractors license. Since none of us had one we began walking back to my truck. He then yelled to us that we could maybe go to the office and they could get us in touch with a contractor that we could then come back and browse with him, but we would not be able to buy anything without a license. As we were leaving I saw on the sign in small letters that the nursery was now contractors only.
So I guess it is my fault for not seeing the small print on the sign, but the employee didn’t need to be so rude.

My wife arrived at Elegant Garden Nursery at 4:30 PM and I met her there about 10 minutes later. Carrie, an employee at Elegant Nursery was showing her some fruit trees we were thinking about purchasing. I asked Carrie how tall the trees get and her answer was, «You need to do your research on the internet. It would take me too long to explain it to you.» Isn’t providing the customer information her job? The business closes at 5:00 PM but Carrie was very pushy and made it clear that we had to leave soon as they were closing the gates. I checked and it was only 4:43 PM. My wife asked Carrie if it would be ok if we (wife and I), walked over to see some other fruit trees. Carrie said «Ahhh ok», as she rolled her eyes. I look over next to us and another Elegant nursery employee is gladly showing another customer the same fruit trees. This was our first time at Elegant nursery and we were very disappointed. Although their selection is great, their customer service is horrible. We went to Nordic Nursery in Newbury Park immediately after and although their selection is smaller, their customer service is excellent. To me, customer service and plain old good manners go a long way.

NEVER order sod for delivery from these people. We ordered sod and were told delivery would be the next day between 1 and 3 pm. At 330 we calked and were told delivery would be between 1 and 6 pm. At 730 pm still no sod and mow no one at the nursery. They got over $ 900 from us and we got zip. They wanted the entire balance up front.
13 hours past 2 nd promised delivery time. They never ordered the sod. Additionally, they could care less that we had crews waiting Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to lay the sod.
Finally talked to a manager. Sod should be here first thing in the afternoon. He did not jerk us around.
On the positive side, they do have a very large selection of plants.

Kevin is super helpful, wow. He should be recognized for his excellent customer service. Before coming here we actually went to lowes to check what plants from our list they would have and to check pricing and whatnot. We walked in with our list and were directed to the expert and we handed him our list; he said, «whats this» we said our list of plants we need! and he looked at us and said AND? it was unbeleivable. we left after that and thankfully at this nursery we were directed to Kevin. He took the time to go through our entire list with us and give us pricing and he was just very helpfull.

I love this place! It has acres of plants to chose from. The staff is always helpful, from offering to drive me in their little carts to pick up my plants way out in the field to helping me load up my vehicle with my treasures. They stop what they’re doing to answer any and all of my questions. Once they didn’t know, so they went and looked it up. Somehow whatever I buy always seems to be on sale. Don’t know how that happens, but that’s always another pleasant surprise.

This beautiful nursery makes shopping for plants for my personal garden enjoyable. Situated in an idyllic corner of Simi Valley, this nursery feels like paradise.
I disagree with the previous comment, the customer service is great. The employees even asked if there was a discount on the products we were already committed to buying.
Walking through this extensive nursery takes a some time because of the amount of plants. The breathtaking view combined with the great customer service makes this a place I will return to again and again.

Customer service is the reason for the poor rating. The nursery has a great selection of plants and decent prices. The have coupons on their website and unlike most companies who will accept an electronic copy of their coupons — they don’t. Although we had several plants we were going to purchase — we didn’t buy them since they wouldn’t accept their coupons via iPhone.
