Chappys Tap Room and Grille

I usually come in after dinner time for a beer, so I knew they had a good beer selection.
Brought my daughter in for dinner tonight. Really impressed. Got the Memphis ribs with mashed potato casserole and Cole slaw. I also added beer battered shrimp. My daughter got a chicken sandwich from the kids meal. Everything was fantastic. The potatoes really stood out and the ribs were great. I was really pleased with the kids meal being equally hgh quality.
Ethan have great service and knew his beer.
I come here to drink frequently, but will be back for another great meal!

If you like beer (real beer, not miller light) you must come to Chappy’s, rated the best beer bar in Ohio! They have gads of taps and they are always rotating what they offer. There’s always something new to try and the staff is very friendly. The food is also much better than typical pub fare.

I want anyone who reads this to know Chappy’s is one of my very favorite places to get great tasting food! On this night I did receive the worst waitstaff service I have ever had anywhere!!! We were seated on time at our call ahead time and from there we were seen by our waitress. She brought our drinks at a reasonable time, she took our very simple order at a reasonable time, BUT from that point on things went down hill till right at the end.
After 40 minutes of receiving our drinks we decided it was time to find out where our waitress was and if our food would be arriving anytime soon. The restaurant was fairly busy when we arrived around 7:45 on a Friday evening, but they were emptying out fairly quick. The manager stated they had a party of 30 and that’s been the hold up and that he would give us «something» off our bill. We said NO we don’t want that, we just wanted to know why she hadn’t been back which is odd this day and age. Moments later after we returned to our table the waitress appeared and said she was going to see what was taking so long in the kitchen. She returned roughly 5 mins later to ask us if we wanted some chips while our food was coming out soon but she wanted to confirm our order at the same time (wth???). Another 5 mins goes bye only to have the manager to come over to apologize for the delay bc apparently our order was never placed with the cook. Oddly, the waitress comes over, while manager is standing there, with bag of chips and ranch dip that she offered us and knocks it out of her own hand as she attempted to place it on the table spilling all over the booth and my gf’s pants and shoes! We couldn’t believe it! The manager said the night was on them and we could move to another table and be waited by another waitstaff member. Our night ended after getting our food 90 mins into the evening, eating it, and getting out of there! My gf had the chip dip all over her jeans and shoes when she got home even after attempting to clean it up while at Chappys! Just plain and simple a crazy evening that is hopefully soon forgotten! The food was good as always! I love the blacken chicken and lemon butter broccoli, no ones is better!

This place has a pretty solid beer selection… no doubt of that. Sat at the bar and the server was cool. Food looked pretty decent all around. I asked for a recommendation as I typically do (for better or worse) and was told to try «anything beer battered»…soooooo I went for the fish sandwich and thought it was just OK. My buddy got a burger and he said it was awesome. I’m sure a ton of the food on the menu is delicious… just wouldn’t necessarily get the fish sandwich. Anyways place was modern… with a very nice bar. It wasn’t that packed… probably because the prices are a little high… I think if they lowered the prices a bit you would have a lot of young professionals hitting the place up. Instead it was a lot of older folks… which is maybe what they are going for. Anyways I would recommend going to give it a whirl… if only for the beers alone.

Found a table in the bar area right away. Tried 2 of their numerous draft beers. Both were delicious. The grilled pork chops were cooked as ordered and very enjoyable … and worth trying! The mashed potatoes tasted like instant but worth finishing. I keep coming back here whenever I’m in Dayton because I’m never disappointed.

I absolutely adore the chicken and waffles hear the waffles were just what I wanted everyone is doing those authentic Belgian waffles which are really hard and he’s more like shortbread cookies however the waffle here with the chicken and waffles at chappies is the best that I have ever had at soft fluffy and American-​style and best of all made with real vanilla beans. The hot sauce maple syrup was the perfect touch and the chicken was great however I will add that if I were to change one thing I would make the chicken a little more moist

My favorite restaurant in the area. Chicken tortilla soup, mashed potato casserole, and peanut butter pie are all awesome! Go here you won’t be sorry.

I can’t stop eating their fried chicken. Or their cheesy potato casserole. 30 minutes on the chicken and well worth the wait! They have a great beer selection to keep you busy and a very nice patio. It was beyond packed while we there, and the drinks were a touch slow. All understandable. I will be back!

My husband loved the barbecued chicken and my broccoli was awesome! My beer battered fish was average and pretty expensive for the consistency. The batter was nice and crispy but the inside was a bit smooshy.

Chappys food is amazing.
Their fried chicken and waffles are the best thing on their menu. The fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had.
Only complaint about Chappy’s they are a little over priced. The wife and i went with our 5 yr old had a small appetizer, i had 3 beers the wife had a glass of wine and our meals we spent 80.00 without tip.
Everything we had was delicious and good portions but i feel 80.00 is a liitle experience for a family of 3.

I stop at Chappy’s anytime I’m in the area. Fantastic beer selection, killer kitchen. What more could you ask for?

Crazy good selection of beers and microbrews, amazing food. Highly recommend their smothered chicken and cheesy mashed potato casserole.

When the better half and I were staying in Dayton, I checked Unilocal for the most and highest reviewed places to where we were and Chappys was it.
It’s no surprise because this place really doesn’t mess around with the Beer selection. I was actually able to get a «Monk’s Café Flemish Sour Ale» which isn’t the easiest Beer to find. I’m one of those weird people who like the Flemish Sour Beers, so finding them anywhere is always a treat.
Although I didn’t have one myself, they also have a sizeable Chicken and Waffles dish which seemed to satisfy the people who did order it.
I ordered the Davey Boy which was pretty much the same as the «Big Boy» from Big Boy. The fries and the burger were very satisfying.
If you are looking for a nice place to get a burger and a beer, I agree with the rest of the Unilocal reviews, this is the best and most reviewed place around.

About 25 – 30 beers on tap. Good local selection with nice specials (Bell’s Two Hearted for $ 3 on Tuesdays). Decent bottle/​can selection. The people at the bar aren’t here to drink light beers!
I had the chicken and waffles with the sriracha maple syrup. It was very good.

Food is excellent. Fried chicken has the best skin ever. Friend ordered the pork chop and they were a great size and very juicy. Chicken tortilla soup could be a meal it’s so hearty. All of the sides were excellent. Good service, very clean. Going back!

Girlfriend and I have been there about once a month. I’m a fan of the smothered chicken and cheesy mashed potato’s. Girlfriend get the pulled pork sliders.
Good food always busy in the evenings but better than fighting the mall crowd.

Chappys is my favorite Dayton spot!
I have been going there over 2 years and I ALWAYS have a good experience.
The food is excellent and the beer list is large and ever changing.
The potato caserole is to die for, I get it almost every time I go there.
The fried chicken is heavenly and well worth the 30 minute wait.
I have reccommended Chappys to MANY and will continue to do so.

I needed a good place for beer and food around Dayton on a recent trip. After perusing Unilocal for a while, I finally decided on Chappy’s. The food menu looked good, but it was the beer that really drew me in. Chappy’s has tons of taps, and many of them are local beers from Cincinnati and Dayton. Unfortunately, their beer menu was a day or two out of date, so 2 or 3 of the beers my brother and I tried to order were no longer available. The beers we did get though were excellent and served in proper glassware.
The food is also good at Chappy’s. They have a pretty decent selection, including a variety of appetizers, entrees, burgers, and sandwiches. Both of us decided on the Cajun shrimp po-​boy with fries. The po-​boys were on a huge hoagie roll, and were filled with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and tons of plump Cajun fried shrimp. They were really good, though adding remoulade instead of mayo would have made them better. The fries were good as well, and the portion was just right.
Our server was nice, and did a decent job of taking care of us, even though she was swamped with lots of other tables, including a large party. The atmosphere was a little too dark for my taste. It was rainy out, so it was really dark and almost hard to read the menus. Turn on a light! Overall this place kicks ass, and I wish I lived way closer to it.

Great beer selection. Any place that offers Lindeman’s Framboise receives at least two stars by default. If you’re a beer snob, join their beer club. Seems like it would be a fun challenge to try all of the different varieties they offer.
Order the fried chicken (see photo). It is worth the 30-​minute wait and doesn’t seem as long when you order a few drinks.
Best side dish goes to the cheesy mashed potato casserole (see photo). Standard mashed potatoes with cheese but they executed them well. I should have requested a double order of the casserole and passed on the side salad! I guess my arteries thanked me later.
