Yum, yum, yum. What a gem. It’s tiny and the owner likes to give everyone crap, which I loved. More importantly, the burgers are legit and I get a side of onion rings. Try the Betty Ann-you won’t be disappointed.

Finally got around to trying this joint over the weekend, after hearing good things from a co-worker several months back. I had passed by once before, only to learn of their(extremely) limited hours, which are 11am-2pm, Mon-Sat. Inconvenient? Absolutely. But if I could somehow get by on 18 hours a week flipping burgers, I’d be auditioning for Team Voltzy in a heartbeat. Trust me. I opted for the 10 for $ 12 deal, which worked out to about $ 18 once they tacked on $ 6 for a generous helping of crinkle cut fries, a root beer and sales tax. Not the cheapest of meals, but you could easily do more wallet damage knocking out a dozen sliders at White Castle and these little monstrosities are so much better. While the patties are about as thick as a Quarter Pounder at McDonald’s, they’re unevenly distributed over the breadth of four slider buns. Each mini burger is topped with its own slice of American cheese, mustard, a pickle slice and a tangled glob of grilled onions that will have your taste buds doing pirouettes. Unfortunately, the much sought after cabbage roll soup was not available this day, though I didn’t have much belly room to spare. Dining is outdoors at picnic tables and seating is extremely limited. To elaborate, there’s a roof overhead, but you’re still exposed to the elements. Think lunch in an open carport. If it’s freezing cold out, you’re likely going to be snot-nosed and miserable. I suppose that’s when the aforementioned soup comes into play. Likewise, the wind can get to whipping around in there pretty good. Be sure to weigh down your napkins, or whatever else you value while attempting to enjoy your meal. Lastly, there’s the crass older gentleman that presumably owns the establishment. Quite a card. He’ll introduce himself, then break into his patented Waldorf and Statler routine. Busting balls, obtrusively shimmying up to patrons to eavesdrop, macking on the ladies, offering his unsolicited two cents, striking up off-topic conversations with anyone willing to pay him mind and(oh, so predictably) dealing up a seemingly endless stream of one-liners, most of which are off-color and/or insulting. I’m guessing he visited a Dick’s Last Resort at some point and decided to adopt their shtick. Just a good ol’ boy, never meaning no harm. Likely a Moraine OH institution. PROTIP: grin and bear it. The tasty grub more than makes up for every moment of awkwardness to which you’re bound to be subjected.

Worst case of poor service and complete unprofessional attitude. I ordered 2 burgers plain and the jackals owner gave me a rough time.(remember me… you called me Sally?) Instead of giving me what I asked for, I was given my order with everything on both sandwiches. The smell inside my van almost made me puke! I pulled over and pitched the bag of food. I already had made up my mind that I wouldn’t be back because of Mr. Mouth, the foul smell of the food cinched it. This happened over a year ago and now that I work near that dump, I will tell anyone with a pulse to spend their money elsewhere. I work hard for my money, if I shop at your business, make my order the way I ask. Not too much to ask for.

We went here on a not-so-busy Thursday in October. Ordered a few burgers, root beers, and fries. We waited a full 25 minutes to get our food. While we waited, many others who phoned in their orders came and went away with their food. This is obviously something that we did not know. Regardless, it would have been helpful if the woman who took our order said«It will be a while because we have a lot of phone in orders». Root beer was very good. Burgers were okay. The mustard was a sweet n spicy type that some may like, others may not. The fries were crinkle cut and seemingly straight out of a frozen bag. The owner is a lively guy, but some may find him just slightly offensive(he can really make you laugh and be glad you stopped for lunch there).

Best burger in town! What a fun place to go! Amazing burgers that are a little larger than sliders. They have a magical sauce on them. Owner is a super cool guy as well. And when they have the cabbage roll soup– buy a gallon!

Tried their garlic burger at GarlicFest 2015. That’s a good burger! Actually, the size is between a slider and regular sized burger so I got a couple of them. At first, I was taken aback by the guy cooking since he seemed a little gruff. Well, come to find the following description for the event: «VOLTZY’S: The hamburger king of Dayton is here and he is sassy and garlicky. Expect him selling some garlic burgers grilled with onions and topped with cheese. As always, insults are still free. If personality was music, owner Rick Voltzy would be a whole brass band.» All I can say is, «Yep!» lol In any case, the burgers were delicious though not too garlicky. Unfortunately, my burgers did not have cheese — not sure why. The buns were steamed so the burgers had a kinda squishy feel, but in a good way. Next time I get over their way, I might try the Voltzy. Caio!

Super tasty burgers, great prices, and the owner is awesome! Came out during our meal to say hi and see if everyone is doing well, we’ll definitely be coming back! I recommend calling your order in ahead of time, saves on the wait.

My first visit. The owner is a funny man and a ball buster. I liked him. I shared a ten pack of cheeseburgers which were very good. With an order of crinkle cut fries and root beer in a frosty mug. It was a great lunch and fun experience.

I have been eating here for a year now. I have yet to find a better burger in the area. Good food done right. The soup is extremely good but can run out fast. It’s a spot that you must try.

A great local hamburger stand, been in business for over 25 years. I had the Betty Anne with fries and the cabbage roll soup. Great food and open all winter. I’ll definitely be back. Keep in mind that they are only open for the lunch hour only, 11am-2pm. No credit cards, debit card with $ 10 minimum.

A true jewel hidden in the gem city. Sad to say, a friend got us to this establishment for the first time today. Leave your ego at the door as a newbie, come in and enjoy the ride. The owner is a great cook with a fantastic sense of humor. Just trust him. You’re in good hands. It’s a small place with no seating but that’s okay. You’ll need to stand up to burn the extra calories you’re going to intake. Wonderful experience, great guy and superb food. Best cabbage roll soup anywhere, I’ll guarantee you that. Thank me later after you stop in and treat yourself. We’ll be back!

Found this little out of the way joint on Unilocal on our way through Ohio. Love the simplicity of it and the owner is really fantastic(although he did tease me a bit about my pink and purple hair) and if you don’t want onions, just say so at the window. He caught me picking them off my burger and made me giggle giving me a hard time about it. Super nice guy and a damn good cook. I had the cheeseburger. It was delicious. But, i think next time we’re passing through I’m gonna have to try the Betty Ann cuz… Yum! Saw it on another customer’s plate and it looked super delish. We had the root beer served in a chilled glass mug and an orange dream ice cream float. Both yum! Hubs had the Voltzy slammer wrap. Absolutely loved it. Overall, highly recommend this little place. Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent prices.

First time visitors today. Love the greeting you get from the owner/cook. Great atmosphere. Walk up only. Sit under the porch on the front and eat at a picnic table. Well worth a visit. Not fancy, but cheap and good.

I must say this little«hidden» shack is amazing. Great food and great service, the owner is very friendly and ensures every customer leaves satisfied. The Patty Melt is my personal favorite, but everything is good, special and unique. Great place to stop by on the lunch hour.

What do you mean you’ve never had the Voltzy’s experience? Get over there! What’s taken you so long? Burgers, soups, fries — your classics and plenty of originals. Just good, good food at a good price. Burgers are all made fresh, a nice change from the chains. Most importantly to me though, the owner really values his customers and goes out of his way to make your dining experience unforgettable. Once you got the menu down, you’ll want to call ahead — sometimes he gets slammed during lunch(because it’s so good!). Support these local places — they’re the heart and soul of what makes places like Dayton great.

This little hidden spot is was a great find! I’ve heard about Voltzy’s for a couple years but could never manage to get there during lunch hours(the only times they are opened except between 11 – 2 on Saturdays). You can’t sit and eat there(except in Spring and Summer) but their food is delicious! All of their burgers are made fresh(no frozen patties) and they are the best! They call them sliders but they are much bigger than the sliders you’d get at White Castle. They also have smoked sausage, wraps, coneys you name it. They are very cheap too. Not to mention the owner is so friendly! I felt like we’d been friends forever after being there 5 minutes. Would recommend highly.

I was surprised to see only 2 lonely reviews of Voltzy’s, Voltzy would say something like, «I’ve been in business here for 22 damned years and you’re just getting around to reviewing me? Where in the hell have you been Susie!?». I can’t believe I’ve never been here, this is indeed one of those well hidden local gems that’s been around forever for good reason. Seating is all outdoors on picnic tables, there’s no waiter service, it’s cash or debit card only, and they’re only open for lunch but man it’s some good stuff! Voltzy who is the cook. owner, and comedy relief for the place made the visit even more enjoyable, if you don’t like sarcasm and getting picked on(all in good fun or course!) stay at home! If this is your first time here, let them know and he’ll come out and remind you how many years he’s been in business and ask where the hell you’ve been all these years and why it took you so damned long to get here, he made fun on one guy for ordering a plain hamburger and called him«susie» while he was there, funny stuff, the whole place was cracking up! The food here is really something special, everything was fantastic, you just have to try it! They even have a 17lb monster burger called the Bill Clinton divorce special, awesome! One tip though and we were reminded of this by Voltzy himself, get a to go menu and call ahead with your order! We ordered there and it took quite a long time to get our food, those«in the know» where walking right up and getting their food, now we know and so do you! So, what are you waiting for? Check out Voltzy’s and get a healthy dose of great food and entertainment!

Just off the road in a large parking lot between Springboro Pike and Kettering Blvd south of the GM assembly plant is a stand alone white building. You have to look for it — it’s not well marked. But when you get to the order window expect friendly service in choosing which Voltzy burger is right for you. Just remember one thing — they load on the grilled onions. Too bad they’re only open during lunch hours.
