I sold a set of drums here on consignment. They took a while to sell and even longer to get paid but overall the experience was pretty good. People who work here are great and I would recommend shopping here.

Buyer and seller beware: This tree is really shady! The Music Tree agreed to sell my guitar on consignment in February 2013. In July I received a call stating the guitar had sold and a check for $ 175 would be processed and mailed. After at least seven calls requesting to speak with the manager(when stating what the call was regarding, he was conveniently«not in»), and being told the bookkeeper would issue a check right away, it’s nearly February 2014, and still no check. Maybe a cool place, but not a reputable and professional business.

The Music Tree is a symphony of excellent customer service. This is truly a gem of a find. The peeps at the store are all music lovers and have a passion and love of instruments, notes, and music. I was overjoyed with the TOP customer service. The staff makes recommendations, let’s us take the instruments for a test drive, string the instruments for free and sometimes give us free guitar strings. We take music lessons, which are unique and involved. The instructors also love their trade. I would have bought the piano at this store, but they did not have what I needed. However, they do have a fine selection of all other instruments, speakers, etc. Take a walk on the Wild side. Cheers.

The folks at The Music Tree in Morgan Hill are great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. They seem to offer a little of everything. They have instruments new and used for sale, rentals, accessories and my personal favorite, a place to learn. Being new to the music world, my perception has always been that musicians were born. Turns out that only a small minority are, the rest have to work really hard at it and learn. Lessons in all instruments seem to be available there including voice which is why I go. My teacher Linda Draggett is amazing! She sang in the SF Opera for years, and as a professional soloist for many more years. Her voice is still amazing and she has an uncanny ability to reach inside you and coax out your best voice. Not everybody will sing opera or on the radio, but if you get pleasure out of singing or would like to, I believe Linda is the most direct route to that end. Give her a try and in no time at all you’ll make sounds that you didn’t think were in you, and then trust me, you’ll be hooked. She is also a piano teacher BTW.

The owner is a very helpful and knowledgeable all around nice guy. I’ve seen him setting up audio equipment at not one but two local elementary schools. Giving back to the community earns huge kudos from me. Also the store has a decent selection with good prices.

The Music Tree of Morgan Hill has be instrumental in helping me purchase our winery’s sound equipment and The Music Tree team helped insure that those without music equipment knowledge like myself could setup the system for many of the local bands to come plug and play. I have been a repeat customer ever since.

I must say, I was excited to learn that they had taken over the music store in Hollister. I learned this from my husband who was taking guitar lessons with our daughter at the Morgan Hill store. My son had received an electric guitar for his birthday and was dying to get lessons so he could learn to play like his Dad & Sister. I went in to the store and requested information on getting guitar lessons for my 9 year old son. They gave me a business card for the teacher to call and find out pricing and days/time that would be available for lessons. I emailed the teacher, called & left messages for him and he never returned my calls. I went back to the store to see if there was another teacher available. I was informed at that time that they may be closing the store. However, the teachers would still have access to the rooms there to teach lessons. Well, during my conversation with this gentleman he was more interested in playing his instrument then making eye contact with me during our discussion. Obviously, he could give a damn about my wants or needs. The lack of his concern over the situation that I had just been through with a teacher that THEY recommended really put me on a sour note! He told me that I could go to the Morgan Hill store if I wanted lessons(I already knew this because of my husband and daughter taking lessons there). But why would I want to go there with the BAD impression/experience that I just went through with the associate at the Hollister store? I felt that possibly I would get the same LACK of attention there that I got at the store here in town. I live in Hollister and would much rather support a LOCAL business here! When my son entered into the 4th grade he had the opportunity to take band lessons at his school. At the information night for band we learned that the school district had only a certain amount of instruments to loan out to students and that the Title I students(I believe that was the criteria) were first to receive instruments. then if there was anything leftover, then the rest of the student body for all of the schools here in town would have the chance to get one of these instruments. Unfortunately, they went quickly and we needed to rent the Sax that my son wanted to learn how to play. Well, guess who was renting the instruments? Yup, The Music Tree… Much to my dismay, I caved to my son and rented an instrument from them. I did speak with Darren that night and explained to him the experience that I went through. He was very apologetic and wanted to make things right for me. So after our lengthy conversation, I ended up renting the sax from him. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. My son has enjoyed learning how to play the sax. As any other parent, I wish he would have practiced more. But due to his school schedule and the fact that the Hollister School District will NOT be continuing on with band for students that attend the elementary schools next year. We ended up returning the instrument to the store. It’s sad that the school district had to cut band from the budget next year. This is such a wonderful enrichment program for the students. If the would just cut the new superintendent’s salary as well as upper management at the district perhaps the music program as well as a lot of jobs there could have been saved. But hey, that’s another subject. I support the music program at all levels of the school and it is a shame that this was one of those items that was cut from the budget. It would be nice to see the music store help keep that program going. If there is no band, no need to rent or buy instruments for their kids. It’s just the«Circle of Life».

They’ve got some nice boutique stuff and can order anything I ask for. A big plus is that they also do live sound re-enforcement which is cool. These guys hook it up with the deals better than the big box stores.

This place is a great resource for homeschoolers. They offer lessons of varying kinds(drums, guitar, violin, piano… etc…) The staff is knowledgeable. I give the place 4 stars and will change it when we meet more of the instructors. The teachers are free agents, and well we had a bad experience with one. So be aware of the individual teachers policies and attitudes. Mr Denton is one of the piano teachers. He has a practice in San Jose as well.

This is one of those local businesses that really serves the community. It is really nice to have a music store that provides music lessons. And they provide the PA system and music for Pony Ball opening day. This is a music store true to it’s name. Not only do they have competitive prices but they are a central location for music lessons. There are numerous«sound» room for practice and lessons. You can find lessons and teachers for just about any instrument. From classic to the newest tunes and styles. When I spend money on music supplies I am more than happy to support the Music Tree rather than one of the chain stores.
