Rocktop Bar & Grill

They advertised family night for July 4^th fireworks. We paid $ 54 to get in. They only had one pool open that was tiny and filled with kids. If we had known it would have been like that we wouldn’t have paid.
We’re very liberal parents but they also booked a bachelorette party at the same time, same venue which resulted in unexpected phallic inflatables. We informed management but they only patronized us.
Tonight reminded me of the TV show «Mystery Diners» in which the staff play house while the owners are gone at the expense of the customers (who, according to tonight’s standards) were bent over to receive a big old fuck you from Rock Top management without so much as a «thank you» afterwards.

Don’t remember much but I remember not having to deal with long lines or waiting times at all. Got drinks fairly quickly (probably the reason I don’t remember much!). The bar has a couple of jacuzzis/​pools! It’s nice but I’ve never seen anyone actually get in them…

This place had so much potential, but man, it just really isn’t getting the job done. It’s nearly impossible to get a drink. This place is constantly understaffed and mismanaged.
Prices are good, and the atmosphere could be awesome. I’ve given it enough tries; I don’t think I’ll be back.

We came on a football weekend (I’m alumna) for the same vs. Oklahoma. We came to this spot on the Friday night before the game because it is new since the last time I’ve been to Morgantown and we wanted to try something different than our usual places. It was pretty empty at 9−10pm, but we were there early by Morgantown standards. It looks like it could be a really cool place. We hung out on the roof and enjoyed some beers and the view. I can’t say too much else since we were only there for about an hour to hour and a half before moving on. Service at the bar seemed fine, the crowd was fine, and next time I’m back in Morgantown I’d like to come back.

I stopped in here with my fiancé on a Friday night, despite some of the scathing reviews. It is clear the management are taking our opinions seriously because I was greeted at the door by a lovely girl with a smile while the bouncer was all business. Nice combo. Overall, this place has something for everyone. It has a good range of ages as well. I am 26 and didn’t feel completely out of place here. We headed up the Secret Stair into Mordor, which was pretty steep but awesomely decorated, to the rooftop outdoor bar. I was thoroughly impressed with the scene. Huge central bar with friendly bartenders, 2 pools (some dudes ended up dancing in there by the end of the night), and a great DJ. It got pretty crowded so we headed to the indoor section which is right down the ramp. Once again, friendly bartenders, great prices, TVs, and edgy, rock n roll décor. They have a great bar food menu with things like chicken fingers/​typical bar fare as well. My huge selling point on this place though? No smoking! It was awesome not having an asthma attack and leaving smelling like an ashtray. I will definitely be back!

I hate it when the $ 8 an hour employee working the. door act like they are doing me a favor by letting me in. I am a middle aged male who was going to spend some money there for my sons 24 th birthday but opted to go the the. Vintage room where they have a little class.

I’m not sure where the other two reviewers are coming from. While it is true that there is a staircase to go up to get there, they also offer a valet service that takes you up to the restaurant. I found the staff very friendly and the food is Outstanding! The outdoor setting is perfect and the live music is very good on most weekends. My wife and I had a blast and will definitely return.

I’ve been here several times. I like this place, but a couple things probably prevent people from coming back or giving it good reviews. One is that you have to walk up a ridiculous staircase to get there. Which is fine, but I can see a lot of women in heels being mad about this. Also, the security staff in the front are jerks. There’s a group of security at the front, and they look at you like you’re interrupting their conversation when you walk up to get in. They give off this vibe like you should be grateful they’re letting you into this place. This is Morgantown, fellas. You’re not security at the highest-​end club in NYC, and there aren’t a bunch of celebs inside. Take it down a notch.
THAT BEING SAID, I like this joint. The open air on a nice summer night is awesome. Also, I like the mix of people that come here. It’s not one of the places that has mostly college kids, or mostly older people. It’s a place where you see all different ages and kinds of people. Plenty of room. Staff other than the above-​mentioned is pretty friendly. Nice place to hang out.

As soon as you start walking up the stairs to enter, take a look at the paintings that canvas the walls, and you can tell immediately, that this isn’t just another bar in Morgantown.
And that’s just the start.
You can tell a lot of time was put into designing Rocktop. The bar and seating area inside is superbly decorated with Rock memorabilia, and it just feels very inviting. The outside areas are huge. You can go to the large bar outside, and have a more party type atmosphere, or you can relax on one the the many sofas.
The staff has been incredibly helpful and courteous every time I’ve been there (four times now). They’ve also seemingly gathered all of the best and most knowledgeable bartenders in the area. There are also a number of unique mixed drinks on the menu, that exemplify the creativity put into the establishment. I can’t say the same thing for the majority of places in Morgantown.
The menu is also unique, and offers a broad range of items such as Chicken and Waffles. I also understand that the menu is going to be seasonal. I have only eaten here once, but I was very pleased, and will absolutely return.
For just opening recently, Rocktop is all ready on a Roll, and from my experiences there, I only expect it to get better. I highly recommend Rocktop.

The outdoor setup is pretty sweet but the staff ruins it.
The security staff are major jerks and think they are high and mighty. Apparently there’s a manual somewhere that says if you’re security, you have to be mean to anyone and everyone whether you’re doing anything wrong or not.
The staff ruined what would have been a good experience.
Hopefully the owners will read this and do something. I might not go back.
