I have been coming to Morro Bay now for almost 10 years and it’s nice to see that the Cloisters Park over that time really hasn’t lost any of it’s charm. Situated within the Cloisters community, the park has a nice little playground where it has a nice set of children’s playground equipment, a nice jogging path that leads to the beach and a beautiful little pond that houses many of the marine birds(however in recent years this has dried up quite a bit from the drought). My favorite thing to do is to jog along the path here which is no more than a mile and then circle around the beachside houses. Something about breathing in the salty air really makes for a great run. At sunset this is the place to be. As the sun sets over the ocean, the light casts a pink salmon hue over the sky, clouds and over the rock that melts into a beautiful orange culminating right where the sun had just disappeared. This place is equally fantastic at night with all the stars out. This park is also great for dogs. Dogs on a leash though. Really impolite to have your dogs running around without any regard for other people’s personal space. This is truly one of my favorite places in California and wish that all of you could enjoy it as much as I do.

Cute park! My GPS wigged out a bit when I was trying to get here, but we figured it out. It’s just across the highway from Taco Temple, so we were able to work through half of our one-hour Taco Temple wait here. It was a great spot to keep the kids(a 10 yr old w a soccer ball and a 17 month old) occupied for a bit. The play structure is boat-inspired with a «swinging» bridge, some steering wheels(helms??), and a couple of slides, swings, and bouncing animals to rides. Did not check out the restrooms for myself, but I hear there is a metal urinal in the men’s room, whatever that means. The grass area is large and the view of the bay is beautiful, but there is no beach access. We’ll be back for a stroll on the paved trail here!

What a hidden away park. It is on a road that says dead end, so unless you live in the area you might just turn around and never get to the park. The Park has a nice set of climbing structures for the children and a flat wide walkway that encircles a giant patch of almost lawn. The pathway leads to a longer walkway along the coastline and many dog walkers, bikers and joggers use the trail. A handy item for those who live close by, and still handy for other who are here for the simple stroll. There are picnic tables and park benches, with benches facing in both directions. So if you are a bird watcher this could be a very nice stop for you too! Whence you sit quietly for a bit, the bird sounds pick up and the passing flight increase quite a bit. All in all it is a park with a little something for many lifestyles. The City of Morro bay takes care of things and that is nice too. Oh yes, restrooms are available.

I can’t believe I’m the first to review this park since its been around a little while. My husband and I took our 17 month old here today for some lunch and playtime for the first time, and it’s definitely one of my favorites in San Luis Obispo county. The playground itself was great for us because it was made with easy access for younger kids. One small slide and a bigger one for the older kids. There are picnic tables for people who want to eat and a VERYLARGE grassy area with restrooms. Also a paved trail/bike path and a walking area to the creek with many ducks. Dogs are allowed on leash. It might have been the day of the week that we went, but it was nice and quiet but so much room that it didn’t feel crowded. I’m taking my daughter here on a regular basis!
